I do have an issue with non-Christmassy themed advent calendars. It's my own issue, I realise. But I like Christmas colours, bit of snow or sparkle, Liberty is always lovely. So many of them don't hit the mark for me.

I heartily agree @Doubleraspberry

My Next AC is Christmassy in subject matter (Father Christmas flying through the air above snow-topped houses).

But the colour scheme is all wrong....pink, black and white!!

I may be getting overly obsessed....

Growlybear83 · 16/09/2024 16:26

Oh dear. I thought I had finished buying for this year but I looked again at the links that had been posted to Escentual and the L'occitane calendar somehow made its way into my basket. I thought it would have been very rude to have removed it. 😆

I remain uncalendared for both me and my teen. Genuinely struggling to get excited. I think H&B may be the best for the teen but I was slightly hoping for something with bit more make up punch. I think I'm probably looking for something I won't get at the budget I have, and really don't want to pay loads for that one. And for me, it all feels quite meh for the prices. I feel sad about this!

I've got the next standard (non premium) one for my nearly-teen. It's £90 so maybe a bit more than some of the ones aimed at that demographic, but it's her christmas present from me and her dad and it's what she wanted. Oh no - what have I done - I've created a beauty addict out of my daughter, she's nearly as bad as me now!

Thelifeofawife · 16/09/2024 17:12

After waiting to hear back from Harrods regarding the beauty calendar, they finally got back to me this morning to say you have to purchase it in store. What was the point in putting a notice online to contact customer services to enquire, only to say that 🙄
I still have the option to ask someone to collect it for me, and I do really want some of the products in it (and the box) but I feel very reluctant to give them my money with how they are handling things this year

Same here, no calendars yet and I usually have three! JL is my favourite but it's not out yet and overpriced so I want a discount. I often get No7 but undecided this year before seeing contents. M&S is always a yes but this year it's pants imo.

There are some calendars I like the look of but they're not as good value for money this year (imo!). I would be tempted with discounts so hoping for those.

I mistakenly watched an unboxing of the Space NK calendar and now I'm suffering from FOMO. I've even been through and added up the RRP of the products I would definitely like to try (£713).

I've bought 2 already though so arghh......

My DH isn't the most observant chap, bless him, but if any more giant boxes arrive he's surely going to start asking questions. It's my money so I can do what I want at the end of the day but I don't have a good answer to the question 'do you really need all these?' 😂

You do. The answer is, YES! Grin
My Clarins one has just arrived. I haven't opened it yet.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 16/09/2024 17:21

Don'tBiteTheCat's response is better though...

I keep almost going for something and then just thinking ‘really?’. I almost bought ASOS for DD but the Revolution palette is just so disappointing.

I was the same re. ASOS. I had a code for 30% off and was about to buy, but when I took a step back I thought 'would I spend £60 on these products if buying individually?' Products like Revolution devalue the whole thing.

Woohoo my very long awaited Harrods Fragrance has arrived! Had a bit of a panic when DHL called it dangerous goods and it was delayed 🤣

That's really odd. It's very early for Harrods to have sold out online. Usually they are available until at least late October. Two years ago it was even reduced, and although this years if good, I don't think that it's particularly better than it was that year. It's had quite similar contents for the past 3 years.

I guess it may be because the competition is weaker this year.

Picture of the box. It has nice drawers.

Found a YouTuber code ADVENT10 to get £10 off this one should anyone be interested.

That's fantastic. I'm delighted for you.

Doubleraspberry · 16/09/2024 17:52

I'm very impressed you've finally managed to get it! You deserve it for free for your persistence.

I am pondering Glossybox for DD as she would love the Iconic palette. Does the £10 work for subscribers, do you know, @OvaHere? As I'm tempted to sign her up as a Christmas present.

CocoMascara · 16/09/2024 18:01

@OvaHere ooo that is a lovely glossy box box! Anthropologie also have good boxes, I use them to store Xmas tags and ribbon etc. I was tempted to get that this year because I could do with another box, but didn’t fancy contents too much! I quite like the Harrods 12 day, a useful box after would be a bonus!

I would say Dangerously addictive, I was going to get one! I had decided that the 4th attempt was going to be my last try.

Doubleraspberry · 16/09/2024 18:05

I’m going Glossy Box plus a subscription. And the boxes that arrive before Christmas can be saved up as a present. I feel better for that! She’ll love the contents and the box for storage.

If you subscribe at the same time you get £15 off.

Sorry, I see you figured it out. I think it's a nice one for younger girls/women.

I'm more tempted by the box than anything!

Doubleraspberry · 16/09/2024 18:14

I was cheekily hoping you could get both discounts! But sadly not.
