With just under 3 months to go until 1 December, there are some big decisions to be made! Thread to discuss advent calendars while we wait for more content revelations and release dates.

I saw a preview of Fenwicks somewhere, IIRC it has a circus themed box. It looked quite good so if it stacks with a GWP I may go for it.

I believe that was a picture of their 2022 advent. No details have been released of their 2024 calendar yet but I think it was around mid September last year.

QueefofSheena · 12/09/2024 09:46

@pinkchampagne1 thanks! I should have been suspicious when no other sites had it!

Last year I bought Sarah Jossell from latest in beauty for my DD and she loved it - bargain price under £50 from TikTok shop. And grooming one for DS. Can't see similar this year though.

@Butterfly44
I have seen lib on the tik tok shop but been slightly nervous about using it. Was everything okay with your credit card etc?

Roundaboot · 12/09/2024 12:02

Oh actually I think that might be a previous year as it's showing as out of stock on the ASOS site. 😔Nevermind, the search continues!

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 12/09/2024 12:09

Does anyone know ... I think after deciding there aren't any I want enough (have so much product already hoarded away and have recently spent my beauty drop credit on lovely things including the last liberty edit meaning it all qualified for the recent GWP.) to justify spending lots on and while I've always have a soft spot for M & S, the higher price this year and so many familiar products some I've still not used up from last year means I'd decided not to bother.

But in is darn well FOMO means I'll really miss having the opening to look forward to on those horrible dark December mornings.

So I think I'll go for the H and B

Are there likely to be any further discounts on it? Checkout won't allow you to apply any codes

Housewife2010 · 12/09/2024 12:12

@tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz When I first bought H&B a few years ago, there was a discount if I signed up to their loyalty card. Check if they still do that.

MidnightMeltdown · 12/09/2024 12:29

Looks like Harrods beauty has sold out. I expect that they'll restock it given that we're still so early in the season, but if not then that must be a record for them!

I reckon that space nk and H&B may sell out quicker than usual too as they seem to be the most popular this year.

Do you think Elemis will sell out? That's been living rent free in my head for a couple of days. It doesn't seem that highly rated amongst seasoned beauty calendar buyers/Elemis users though.

I'm new to Elemis and fancy trying more of the range but I already bought the Rituals calendar to share with DS so two would be greedy. I'm hoping it gets discounted but then I risk missing it and I'll be annoyed with myself.

I realise this is a very self indulgent dilemma! 😂

MidnightMeltdown · 12/09/2024 12:46

@OvaHere

I don't know, I've never bought the Elemis one. I think it sold out pretty quickly last year, but I too noticed that the reviews on their website aren't very good this year. I don't know whether or not that will impact sales.

FYI two is definitely not greedy. I have been known to buy 5! Blush

Doubleraspberry · 12/09/2024 12:48

@OvaHere have a look at the Elemis gift sets on QVC. All full sizes and my guess is that they’re currently priced to reduce at some point before Christmas.

Therightcoffee · 12/09/2024 12:51

I love Elemis - reckon that calendar is good for mid 30s, it doesn't have a lot of the anti ageing things I particularly love although, I don't think it's a bad offer. But off to snoop QVC!

Ha ha. I guess that puts it in perspective!

Oh don't worry I have already been stalking QVC. Their current bundles will have to reduce quite a bit to seem like better value than the calendar though.

Their festive bundle is currently £300 although the products might have more bigger sizes than the calendar - which seems to be a lot of people's complaint this year.

Therightcoffee · 12/09/2024 12:56

Reckon the Elemis reviews are spot on - it's a nice calendar it's just not all it could be variety wise

I'm well past mid 30s. Nearly 50. So do you think it might not be as worth it for me as I think?

I currently own the Marine Collagen Day Cream and Eye Cream, also the Superfood Midnight cream.

Therightcoffee · 12/09/2024 13:01

45 here - I'd not object if someone sent this to me (daydreaming again!) but if you go to one of their counters, they've got a tonne of products not in the calendar that are better for our age. Although honestly marine cream you can't go wrong with or the night cream.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 12/09/2024 13:03

Hi Housewife yes have the app unfortunately, thanks though 😊

Oh wow glad I decided to buy Harrods yesterday . I had been thinking of hanging on just to see if Elle or Fenwicks produced something amazing. But they may do another release as you are right it is still really early. Mad to think really it’s only half way into September.
I agree I think SpaceNk will sell out this month and H&B has previously sold out very fast haven’t really looked at this properly I might see if there is an unboxing somewhere
Everything is selling out really fast at the moment . cult Beauty did a beauty box yesterday which I was vaguely interested in but it sold out in about 4 hours!
@OvaHere I am pretty sure I have seen an unboxing of Elemis on YouTube might be worth checking out if you don’t mind not having a surprise

MidnightMeltdown · 12/09/2024 13:11

Cult Beauty Scent with Love is also currently out of stock, but looks like they will be getting more at some point.

I have the Elemis one and have already opened it. I bought it because I use several of the products in it, plus I've been using the travel sized versions a lot while travelling recently. The calendar just happened to have exactly the kind of things I'd buy anyway, so was value for money for me. I do often buy the QVC offers too so I agree it's worth shopping around if you like Elemis.

I already opened it because I need an empty one to make an advent calendar for DD, and I bought it for practical reasons rather than the surprise/fun element. I've bought LF to open in December. Having opened it, if it was my main advent calendar I'd have been disappointed. It's not the products themselves, it's that the drawers were mostly large with very small products in, and no tissue paper or packaging. So the actual experience of opening it was quite deflating, and it felt like lots of tiny tubes rattling round in big empty drawers. I'm still glad I got it, but glad I didn't save it for December!

I do love Elemis - I'm 44 but post-chemo with very dry & sensitive skin, and Elemis are the only products that do t irritate my skin. Hence why I need travel sized products, I won't use anything else!

I reckon that £300 bundle will go half price. And then I’d swoop as they are all full size products which feels better value than more products but travel sized. I don’t do enough of the sort of travel that makes travel sized useful!

They just had an Elemis tsv on QVC which was fab value £80 for 4 full size core products. Well worth watching out for

QueefofSheena · 12/09/2024 13:46

My Harrods Fragrance AC arrived. I’m torn over whether to open it now or save it as I bought it with birthday money.
