With just under 3 months to go until 1 December, there are some big decisions to be made! Thread to discuss advent calendars while we wait for more content revelations and release dates.

Ebay only lets you list new cosmetics so it's kind of a given. if the item is sealed I always say as for some people that's important.

Right! I am phoning them now to demand my delivery charge back!!!

I think I am decided on Space NK this year and have the email to say I will get the link at 10 a.m. However the high pressure sales tactic is putting me off. I don't for one minute believe it will sell out before general release. Tempted to wait and see if they offer another GWP as they did last year (although I did leave it too late last year and then regretted missing out)

I've sold on Vinted as I prefer that for selling over ebay in general.
You have to price really cheap, IME. For example I sold the Mac lipstick from the JL calendar a couple of years ago for £6 (RRP is about £25) People want a bargain and they are also paying a few pounds postage on top.
I always pride myself on doing accurate and truthful descriptions but I don't say it's from a calendar as I don't see the need.

I'm also not doing it to make a profit - I'd just rather my unwanted things go to someone who'll appreciate them rather than lying unused in a drawer.

Lots of hype for Space NK here! TBH I didn’t find the contents that inspiring. Not that I think it’s a bad offering - far from it. The big hitters are all very similar, I think, so ultimately it comes down to which AC offers a clutch of products you really want.

I decided to go for Cult Beauty’s fragrance option (ironically will probably end up giving the two fragrances to my almost-teen). The Bioeffect EGF serum is something I use, so that’s £135 of value right there for me.

Annoyingly, I dithered too long to get the £20 voucher.

I’m dithering a bit on space nk as there’s nothing I think WOW about. But on the other hand it has a few of my favourites including things I’ve discovered for past space nk calendars (Sunday Riley ceo oil, drunk elephant etc) and there are some promising new things I could potentially see being interesting to me (brow gel, rare beauty lip oil, milk primer, hourglass blush) that I’d never buy separately. So it’s probably the most sensible of them all.

on the other hand I am waiting for Diptyque to release theirs as I just want a magical dreamy lovely smelling bundle of non-essentials…it’s a dilemma

Pissed off about the delivery charge!!! I thought it was a bit of a cheek this morning but I’m extra annoyed that they now seem to be discounting the delivery! Although glad for the people that aren’t paying it. I don’t know whether to bother emailing but it’s left a bad taste.

I'm also not doing it for profit really (although nothing wrong with that) but as a bit of a game to see if I can sell enough of the things I don't want to pay for (or nearly pay for) the things i do. I then end up with a lovely stash of high end products to see me through the year for ideally nothing, or if not nothing then very low cost.
I'm unemployed at the moment due to a dire job market and this keeps me busy and makes me feel like I'm doing something useful with my time whilst waiting for the job market to pick up .

Oh joining in, I'm treating myself to one of these for Christmas - as a single mother of teens I don't get anything unless I buy it for myself. Plan is to get the boys to wrap it up and I'll open the whole thing up on Christmas Day 🤩 like the look of the Harrods on me so far £250 is my limit though!

Eek I've ordered Space NK! I added it to my wishlist on my account and then I was able to check out. I had £20 NDulge points and it gave me free delivery. Now I'm going to stop looking at Advent Calendars and put this away when it arrives so I can "forget" what's in it to try and be more of a surprise in December!

It's great I think but I have too many of the products and I don't need them

I’ve decided against spacenk in the end. My husband announced this morning that he has already bought me a beauty advent (although he’s not disclosing which one!) and I definitely don’t “need” two! Unless there are any heavy discounts later of course which might affect my view…!

That Bare Minerals calendar was amazing, I'd never used their products before and now a big fan

I remember that big discount on the Bare Minerals calendar. Was impressed with them that they honoured it. I got it for my sister for Christmas that year and she really liked it.

I've been using Bare Minerals for years. I love them. Their mascaras are fantastic, the foundation is very natural looking, the lipsticks have great staying power and the primers are brilliant. I'm not on commission, honest.

I was disappointed not to get the calendar on discount last year. They were UK only.

I've got it in my basket and now I don't know what to do!

I've already had a reply from SpaceNK regarding the delivery fee. They apologised but said I need to contact again once it's dispatched for the refund.
Seems like a genuine error as a poster here has since said there was no charge.

I said I would buy one this year but got swept away by everyone else's excitement 🤣 oops!

I went as far as payment and I’m being charged too for delivery from Space NK

Space NK looks quite good but the shade of the Lisa Eldridge lipstick does nothing for me.

Me either, but it seems like that is the only drawer of doom for me so I’m happy!
