With just under 3 months to go until 1 December, there are some big decisions to be made! Thread to discuss advent calendars while we wait for more content revelations and release dates.

It wouldn't be Christmas without a red nail varnish from M&S.

That's weird! I literally just ordered one. Maybe they hadn't been released when you were looking and so showed as OOS?

If you don't look after yourself, you're less able to look after everyone else so definitely treat yourself.

That is true. I paint my toenails red. I swim with the dc so frequently get my feet out. Luckily I have this endless supply of red nail varnish from beauty boxes and advent calendars

What ARE the wristbands?

Looks like M&S have gone for another bag. I don’t like them. They feel very old-fogeyish. Like the St Michael’s of my youth.

Still showing in stock for me. In the past when it has sold out, they have done a second drop though.

Christmas is probably the only time I'm tempted to wear red nail varnish!

M&S looks promising - especially as it's so easy to hit a linked spend on stocking fillers my kids are already wondering when the hot chocolate bombes are arriving

Does anyone know when the Selfridges one goes on sale? Can't find the details.

That's what I've been wondering too.

I think the spaceNK ones are too stop drips going up your arm when washing your face. The H&B ones are wash ones so do you use them to wash your face?

Edited to say - I found a description for the H&B ones. They are the same as the SpaceNK.

I've never heard of wash wristbands but I've googled and they are the perfect invention (if they work) for when washing kids hair! My arms always get soaked. What a revelation

I’m tempted to get this AC as well as the John Lewis one as it’s a good price!

St Michael is actually very desirable on Vinted now! Exceptionally well made clothes. They don’t make em like that anymore.

I have a question about the two Cult Beauty calendars - if the fragrance one had a 10ml Kayali one day, what does the non-fragrance one offer instead?

That's a brilliant idea.

If you look at the list of contents on the site they have ** after the calendar specific items. From memory, a travel bum bum cream is in the other one for one of the days and a Kate Somerville travel product for the other.

I hate hate hate lavender and mint type of scents, if I didn't I'd definitely go for H&B, excellent value and I had one the year before last I think it was and it was really good.

I'm really pleased with the beauty bay actual box, feels sturdy enough to re-use and isn't overly Christmassy. Just have to resist opening it before December now :D

@thetimeisnow - definitely don’t let anyone put you off getting a lovely advent calendar. Some people just don’t get it. Either they are not at all into make up or skin care or are just miserable buggers! The size of the advent calendar market would suggest that they are in the minority. These threads bring so much enjoyment to people too. Almost as much as the actual calendars I think.

Regarding the wristbands there was a thread on here a few weeks ago from someone asking how people, wash their faces over the sink without drowning the place and a few people recommend wristbands.

M&S is probably a no from me purely because of the bag. I have enough bags and it doesn’t look like one I’d use really. I didn’t get it for the same reason last year. Much preferred the year they did a nice tin. And also I just don’t need any more stuff!

My Liberty AC was dispatched yesterday. I’ll check it briefly for damage and to make sure each drawer has something in it but then it will be going away til 1 December. And I hope to forget the contents by then!

Just ordered the H&B one for dd there now and also the LF one. I use Elemis pro collagen marine cream so the 30ml and the medic8 products alone make it worthwhile for me.

Yes those area really good, and the Estée Lauder advanced night repair is a good product too, always worth it. I'll make some teenager's day happy giving them the hair mist!

Hmm, well H&B has been deducted from my account, but no confirmation email.

Processing problem perhaps? I think that's all I want advent calendar wise this year. I have the make-up I want (aside from kajal liner, but could get that with Boots or superdrug points) and use a Korean skincare serum and peptide spray.

And H&B include a candle and deodorant 💖

How are people washing their faces?!? I am usually naked and always use a flannel: there’s not a lot of splash.
Hair washing is a different matter, I appreciate.

I am debating also which one to get, so far JL looks like my choice, but the M&S one may be on on the list.

And since my DH, bless him carted a M&S one (the box with the draw) overseas for me using up precious luggage allowance and space, I have decided to do him one. So I have bought fancy gift bags in different sizes and will fill each one with something he likes/needs/does not know he likes or needs so ha can join in with the fun!

I wash my face in the shower so no drippage issues.
