AW 24, what’s in style?

Any predictions as to what is going to be on trend for 40 somethings this autumn and winter?

I used to live reading style magazines for the new season but haven’t bought one for years!

Wintery pastels or rich jewel tones? Black and white monochromes?

I’m hoping chunky jumpers and comfortable trousers are on the menu!

(ultimately I wear what I want, but I like to feel stylish when I can!)

Nearly all fashion journalism is incredibly badly written, though. They are all very attached to naff turns of phrase like whisper it, that add absolutely nothing but are very irritating.

Yes, atrocious, especially the way every item is introduced with a dreary pun (the same dreary puns lazy hacks have been using for decades). Going Brogue. Getting Shirty. A Boot Up The Arse. That sort of shite.

I suspect it’s because the fashion magazine editorial meetings shown in Ab Fab were very accurate.

ChilliPB · 04/09/2024 15:44

Haha yes agree the journalism is annoying. I often just skim and look at the pictures/click the links.

Butter-soft leather.

First time i came across it, I thought, yes, that's exactly it.

But now every time a I know the word 'leather' is on its way, be it fiction or non fiction, I know someone 's got a bit of butter on their keyboard.

The reference to Ab Fab made me laugh, that’s exactly it. Still, I’ve found some great buys from their articles and, despite them being heavily tied to Zara and H&M/Cos etc, I’ve also discovered some new retailers, like Ninety Percent, which are now staples.

I am such a geek that I decided to catalogue my wardrobe this week. I’ve gone from a size 18/20 to a 10/12 so have had to replace everything and have lost track of what I have and what I still need. I discovered a lovely burgundy jumper from The Kooples via Vinted that I had bought at the start of the summer and forgotten about but wore today and loved.

I've ventured out to actual shops today and have decided that my wardrobe is missing a pair of high waist, wide leg, tweedish trousers. Tesco had some, but I didn't reckon they'd be long enough on me. I'm on thr edge of tall.
