What shoes do you wear if you can’t walk in heels?

I’m really, really bad in heels. Broke my ankle a few years ago and I’m like Bambi if I try anything over two inches. Anything strappy presents an even worse issue.

I’m also very tall and don’t like towering over people constantly.

I’d like to buy this dress for an event but I don’t know what to do shoe-wise.

Any ideas, and ideally, links please oh wise ones?

Don’t be so ageist, most 60 plus folks don’t just have a personality transplant and suddenly like shoes like that. That’s nothing to do with age, and everything to do with personal style.

ok

My pink-haired art student DD bought her summer sandals from there on the grounds that looking like an old woman was fine whereas she wouldn't dream of wearing uncomfortable shoes.

I'd wear those @Commonsense22. Sadly it isn't sandal weather Sad

Exactly.

Awkward shoes situations are so much easier to resolve in the summer months when there are lots of sandal options.

I’d wear them too, but not with an occasion dress, I wouldn’t think them dressy enough. Fine with jeans and shorts for me. Obviously we’re all different.

I don't think they are special occasion sandals either, but I would wear them if I couldn't find anything else.

Wellies 😂

Would be more of a style statement than some of the shoes posted here. It is perfectly possible to buy pretty flat shoes so I really don't know why this thread is full of 1) ugly casual flats 2) heels (and yes, wedges are heels, block heels are heels, kitten heels are heels, and 'oh these are so comfortable, they are only 2 inches' are heels).

RampantIvy · 18/07/2024 14:09

I'm with you on the "heels" @JaninaDuszejko
I would add pointy toe shoes as unsuitable for those of use with problem feet. They are uncomfortable and ugly.

Apologies if you've already found a pair, or none of these are your style but perhaps there might be something that catches your eye.
Beautiful dress!
