What shoes do you wear if you can’t walk in heels?

I’m really, really bad in heels. Broke my ankle a few years ago and I’m like Bambi if I try anything over two inches. Anything strappy presents an even worse issue.

I’m also very tall and don’t like towering over people constantly.

I’d like to buy this dress for an event but I don’t know what to do shoe-wise.

Any ideas, and ideally, links please oh wise ones?

i'd go with a 1 or 2 inch block heel with a light open top, something like this (2" example).

Sorry but the brogues comment made me chuckle. Very amusing, imagine wearing brogues with that dress,

personally I’d wear either flat strappy sandals or a velvet,slipper mule.

Doc Martens or smart white trainers

Doc Martens seems a questionable move for the height insecure (I guess with the exception of those after 'exposure therapy')

Maybe fly sandals? So comfortable and not too frumpy.

These last forever! I have 3 pairs and have got years of daily on my feet wear with them. The strap placement gives great stability too.

I've never worn heels.
A low heeled pretty shoe with a bow or other embellishment. Sling backs are in and there are some nice crossover strap flats that are dainty about. Russell & Bromley have some. Also dainty sandals.seem to be making a comeback - my local Jones have some.

Something like this perhaps.

A pp suggested velvet mules and I think a rich blue velvet would look great.

Flat sandals also with a bit of gold or some beading.

I’ve got some of these. I’m tall and seem not to have very many tall friends or colleagues. DH is same height and DS taller.

I like ballet flats and loafers. I also favour mules, clogs, Birkenstock type things. I’m very into the trainers with dress look.

I fell off some high wedges once and it put me off heels

I gave similar style in dark green suede, and I wish I’d brought some black ones too as they are very comfortable and can be with dressy clothing or with jeans.

I wear these for nights out/celebrations. I really dislike heels these days.

I wear a tiny kitten heel sandal I bought from M&S once. They’re silver. That failing, I’ve a pair of pointy toe kitten heel navy shoes I bought from Dune one year.
Otherwise I wear docs with my dresses now. Definitely get a wee kitten heel or one of those pointy flats for that dress. It’s beautiful

Suede flat slingbacks.

Buy some fancy shoe bows or sparkly shoe clips to wear for the wedding. You will get far more use out of the shoes if you can make them plain again.

I’m the same as you. I wear flat sandals. These some I’ve bought recently. If you’re near an Indian shopping area will be worth taking a look as gorgeous flat sandals is kind of our super strength lol. It’s also wedding season so lots of choice.

Another pointy flat fan. Otherwise these very boring but extremely comfortable heels are all I wear. I have them in loads of colours.
