Yes I know, I'm stupidly early, but I love a beauty advent calendar and I've just seen Liberty has stopped a sneak peek at their offering this year...

That does look good. But I’m after last year’s for £200!

A bit younger than that but very into make up. Way more than skincare. H&B looks too toiletries for her I think.

How dare you @DancingNotDrowning , we’re very civilised here 🎩. @Growlybear83 i guess if you’re already there and made the journey on a 26 degree Sunday, your reactions might not be reasonable. I’ve had a look on insta, TikTok and X and I can’t find anything about anti social behaviour. I did see some posts about people getting both calendars and winning £100 worth of points. Very tame! A LOT of aggro from people having their orders cancelled.

Bought adult DD the LF one order this morning. Now trying to figure out what’s best for youngest DD13.

DH and DS’s are obviously being ignored.

@BakeOffRewatch I've been home for ages now and have cooled down and relaxed 😆. All the problems happened in the first five minutes or so after the shop opened, so the excitement was over quite quickly - I was in the queue outside that the store staff moved customers to in less than ten minutes after opening time. When I went last year, the calendars went on sale on a weekday, so I'm sure things were much more heated and frantic today because it was a Sunday, and also because of all the uncertainty with the preorders.

does anyone buy without pouring over contents in advance? I like to have a vague idea of what’s going to be in mine but I also

@DancingNotDrowning I’m waiting to see if anyone wants to swap my DoD (listed them in Liberty beauty drop thread), but I’ll put it away in a week and I’m sure I’ll forget by 1st December. DH was asking me if I’d open in order or all together. Not sure. There were things that I’d want to use earlier on in the month like blush, lipstick and glitter eye shadow. I don’t want to be wearing them into January. Day 25 is a huge DoD for me so I won’t forget that but it’s good to be prepared!

Not only do I pour over them, I also create a spreadsheet that lists items by category and colour code them by how keen I am on each item.

Luckily I have the memory of a goldfish so I still get the element of surprise.

I think looking at too many calendars with sometimes similar products different sizes does that @OchonAgusOchonOh .

If by some miracle the Harrods fragrance AC does arrive I’m probably going to open it straight away. I bought it as a birthday present to myself as it was a milestone birthday this time. I won’t post spoilers though

I'm limited in the ones I look at as a lot of them don't ship to Ireland. Plus I will only add to the spreadsheet if they don't have too many DoDs. I currently have Liberty and spaceNK in it. I will add the beauty bay one as it looks interesting. LF is a definite no. Unless CB is quite different to the leaks, that will also be a definite no.

Harrods, LiB, JL, Flannels, Next, H&B, Elle don't ship to Ireland so they're off the list too.

I’ve received my refund from Harrods for the perfume advent..so who knows whether or not I’ll end up with one. On a plus note it’s saved me some money, for now 😁

Anyone seen anything on Rituals? My friend gifted me a set for my birthday and I really loved it.

@DancingNotDrowning I get my daughter to check the contents list so they are not too many DoD. Saying that I had to have Liberty this year as I had vouchers and BD to use up.

That's always the thing isn't it - December is the Christmas month and you want the Christmas things by about Nov 25...

There are a fair few Irish on here so useful to know. It's really annoying to spend ages looking at them, getting excited about one in particular and then realising you can't have it.

Some will ship other stuff to Ireland but won't ship the calendar. You also need to be wary about Excise if the calendar is over €150 as some don't cover that so you can get hammered by customs.

Sephora was another one that didn't ship to Ireland last year.

Quick question for anyone in Ireland who got the Liberty calendar previously. Given that it's over the €150 threshold, I just want to check do they include all VAT, excise etc or did you get caught for further charges?

Seriously though, that is bonkers @Growlybear83 but I'm kinda not surprised. It's almost as bad as the B&M toilet roll brawls in 2020. People seem to lose their minds in these situations.

Surprised that Harrods beauty calendar has sold out as it's very similar to the previous two years when it took months to sell (and one year was even reduced). Maybe they've just taken it offline temporarily because they're overwhelmed by dealing with the fragrance calendar fiasco. They usually restock the beauty calendar in any case, so it will probably be back.

They could have understocked it at this early time to create a buying frenzy? Nothing to drum up business like something being in short supply... I'm sure they will re stock in the autumn.

Then again their merchandisers could just be shit...
