Yes I know, I'm stupidly early, but I love a beauty advent calendar and I've just seen Liberty has stopped a sneak peek at their offering this year...

I was thinking of going for Harrods beauty next year but this has now put me off and I will spend my money elsewhere.

That's terrible. what on earth is happening with Harrods!

Just had the email. Harrods have cancelled my order too. After reviewing I obviously didn’t pass the grade! I am incredibly annoyed especially as I almost bought the Caroline Hirons box yesterday but then remembered my credit card size because of stuff like this advent and changed my mind. And now CH is out of stock
It will be interesting to see if any of us end up with this advent . They are definitely not getting any more of my money so that’s their main advent crossed off my list
Really poor form all round.

I wonder whether they mistakenly made the calendar available a day early, and are now cancelling the early orders?

It’s certainly “first world problems”, but that’s where the luxury market places itself “Luxury is a necessity that begins when necessity ends.” - depending on how refined you are that’s Antoine the perfumier from Emily in Paris, or Coco Chanel. Gutted for everyone who is not going to receive their first choice calendar.

And how convenient that the chat function and WhatsApp are not working on the website or mobile!

Probably overwhelmed with angry customers!

Harrods the store that is ruining Christmas (and we are still in August!)

I actually managed to get through to CS of Harrods…apparently they oversold, so they are cancelling a lot of preorders. I do wonder what time it went live, how many they had to sell, and how long they’ve held onto the money once they realised.

Hmmm... strange that they put it online again this morning! I suppose that was a mistake too. Somebody at Harrods has REALLY messed up.

I wonder whether they will still have stock in store on 1st...

They ruined Christmas many years ago, roughly starting when they changed their grotto rules to only allow customers who had spent 20k in that year

I did think that it took longer than usual to sell out this year - obviously because they were busy selling stock that they don't have!

Would love to know how much they oversold by!

It’s just so disappointing. I bought mine at 1.24am on the 8th (I obviously don’t sleep!) I think it sold out about 12 hours after I bought
I mean how difficult is it to stock control . I think they have supply issues on one of the perfumes and have had to massively reduce supply of the advent off the back of it
It will be incredibly annoying to think it will be on sale in their stores though next week when we have all had our orders cancelled . And the timing sucks just before release . You are right @SoloCat how long did they know and how long did they sit on our money before cancelling. Either way that is my love affair with Harrods over😢

You could try asking the person in CS to transfer you to their supervisor. That was one of the things I did. If it goes far enough up the chain, someone may see sense.

My order is still showing as “reviewing”. I wonder how they are deciding which ones to cancel and which ones to honour. I think quite a few of us ordered very soon after it became available on the 7th? I had already ordered when I posted the link on here.

@Puravida23 I also think there must have been a problem with supply of some of the perfumes that arose post the pre-order and which means in reality that they have not been able to put together as many calendars as expected.

What will be really maddening is if they are honouring the orders of those who buy 5 or 10 calendars and then resell them at inflated prices on eBay 😡

If they've oversold they should at least be using the stock earmarked for the shop to fulfil some of those orders.

It's a totally rubbish system that allows them to oversell. A first year undergrad computer science student could easily write a system that doesn't allow overselling.

@AprilLady I was wondering the same thing. They're probably looking at how much you spent in Harrods this year!

Agree JL looks very decent and good value for the price compared with some of the £250+ calendars. I’ll hopefully get the time to do a big spreadsheet update this weekend so that I can make some decisions.

It doesn't look bad for those looking for one at the cheaper end. Not a bad exchange rate either for those buying in euro. It doesn't give sizes but I would assume at that price point, they would be mainly travel sizes.

Looking at it a bit closer, it would be a good option for anyone buying for someone in their late teen/early 20's

What a complete shitshow by Harrods! Sorry to all those who have been disappointed.

I'm pleasantly surprised by JL. I was pretty sure I was going to get it but slightly worried there would be repeats from previous years as it does get quite samey. However, there's enough new stuff in this years to make it worthwhile for me, and actually the repeats (Neom candle, AA bath oil) are things that I really like.

Hair care products will all be given away though. This year, not only are they all not Curly Girl friendly, they all seem to be aimed at fine, limp, straight hair which is the exact opposite of mine!

I’ve had the same email, and now I’ve had the refund confirmation. I wonder if any of us will actually get one?

I’m probably going to go for the HN fragrance one now.

I’m on a Facebook fragrance group, and quite a few people are reporting cancelled orders there too. But someone who contacted customer service was given a different message to the above - saying it’s all being reviewed.

@QueefofSheena yeah I have just been looking at it and I think I will go for Harvey Nicks too (they could do really well out of this fiasco) unless anyone like SpaceNk does one which is really good
