Yes I know, I'm stupidly early, but I love a beauty advent calendar and I've just seen Liberty has stopped a sneak peek at their offering this year...

Just saved myself £260 by not caring about beauty products Go me !

VibeOnWithMyGalPals · 25/08/2024 14:32

And thank you @Toottooot !

CocoMascara · 25/08/2024 14:33

Re Penhaligon’s, recently (in the last couple of weeks) I’ve seen last years in their outlet shops for £200, it was v tempting and looks gorgeous. I’m waiting the reveal for their Xmas range this year, I like a lot of their scents

Your username is particularly apt... Did ye, aye?

@IlovePond I am quite annoyed with myself- I really thought I had been good at using stuff up. Please tell me I am not the only one!

You are definitely not the only one, I've still got a few items unopened from F&M 2023. As in, I've just taken then out the calendar 😬 I suspect I still have minis kicking about from even older calendars. This is why I actively prefer splurging on one more expensive calendar with mainly full sizes. I've had previous years where I had multiples as they were a bargain, but you end up overwhelmed with stuff.

ETA - LF is not for me. It's not bad for the price point though, although I think I'd personally rather have the 12 day Harrods hair and body calendar for the same price. If you fancy the Elemis and Estée Lauder it's kind of a no brainer to go for LF, that's good value.

Naw she didnae - sorry nae mair attention given to that reply fae me.

I'm about 75% sold on LF, but I would like to know about some of the other calendars first. Like JL, Glossybox, Boots Premium, Sephora. LF comes out on 1st September though so I'm not sure how many reveals we will have before then.

@IlovePond

I love that Christophe Robin scalp scrub! I have greasy hair and this is the only product I've found that makes it last longer between washes. Also adds volume.

Ooooh I would definitely buy it for £200. I don't suppose the outlet stores will post? I've recently had back surgery and can't travel very far.

Puravida23 · 25/08/2024 15:43

Mmm Not sure about LF now. I loved the spoilers and the rest includes a lot of stuff I will use like shampoo, conditioner body wash/Lotion and we have the candle so should really be a winner but I have gone from 80% enthusiastic to about 65%. Not sure why. I think giving us 6 out of 7 of the best products was a big mistake as the rest was always going to be a slight disappointment. I think if I see an unboxing I might be convinced again as it does look great value but I think I will hang on and see what else comes out

JudgeBurrito · 25/08/2024 15:49

@Puravida23 I'm not sure what the thinking is behind drip-feeding the spoilers. I totally agree that sharing the best products first is going to make the rest a let down. Hopefully this is why I found the CB spoilers disappointing and the rest will impress more, but I wish they'd just announce the contents all at once.

MidnightMeltdown · 25/08/2024 15:50

Look Fantastic looks decent for the price. If I didn't already have so many products then I might have gone for it, but as it is, I need to be selective and there are others that prefer.

I think that this is a great option for people who don't want to spend £200 plus though.

CocoMascara · 25/08/2024 16:17

@Growlybear83 it would be worth calling the store and asking. I think regular Penhaligon’s might send out orders, Diptyque stores definitely do, so it’s not a crazy ask. I saw them in the Portsmouth Gunwarf store, the staff in there were lovely, so I’m sure they wouldn’t mind a call to ask

Growlybear83 · 25/08/2024 16:27

@CocoMascara Thank you - I'll try ringing in the morning. 😊

Sunnydaysarehereonceagain · 25/08/2024 16:36

Well I’ve been quietly following this thread in the hope that I’d be wowed by at least one of the lux calendars. In the past I’ve had Liberty, F&M, HN, JL and the Harrods fragrance one. Not impressed with any of these this year. I’ve actually pre-ordered the Harrods 12 day hair offering. Looking forward to the Champo stuff and I’m another who rates Christophe Robin. I’m away for half of December anyway, so 12 days will be perfect. Might be tempted by H&B for January, depending upon contents. I’ve worked my way through a ton of high end lotions and potions and I honestly don’t think they’ve made a major difference to the way I look / feel. I’m planning on downgrading my skincare regime next year. I’ll keep my Liberty beauty drop subscription though 😊

MidnightMeltdown · 25/08/2024 16:59

I initially dismissed the Harrods hair calendar, but actually it has some good products in it. I'd like to try the dry shampoo and I like Christophe Robin and the Beija Flor scent. I'm not excited by Champo though, and not sure whether there's enough value overall to convince me to buy it.

Looking forward to seeing what Sephora has to offer.

pepperaunt · 25/08/2024 17:02

So glad I’m the only one! I’ve pre-ordered the F & M calendar as I’m quite bored with the usual Harrods or Liberty, beautiful boxes notwithstanding… I’m having second thoughts though as I’ve found yet another random drawer full of previous Advent calendar “goodies”. I’m not sure I’ll ever use up the ubiquitous AB moisturisers though.

pepperaunt · 25/08/2024 17:02

Make that NOT the only one

MidnightMeltdown · 25/08/2024 17:14

I think it will probably be Space NK and F&M for me this year, but will wait for the other reveals.

I usually end up caving and ordering something that I had no intention of buying (esp. if there is a discount!) 🙈

I like the fact the F&M has more body/bath products as I tend to get through these more quickly, and I have quite a lot of skincare atm.

MrsBNow · 25/08/2024 17:35

I used my Beauty Drop and pre-ordered the Liberty one, this is my first year doing BD and will be my first luxury calendar. It’s my birthday next month so have asked for the Harrods one.
I normally get one around the £100 mark so will have a look at BootsPremium, Glossybox and Look Fantastic or any others that get recommended.

pinkchampagne1 · 25/08/2024 18:03

I have hinted to DH that I would like the Harrods one for my birthday too. 😃

IlovePond · 25/08/2024 18:31

That makes me feel a bit better @JudgeBurrito and @pepperaunt I have set myself a target of using - not saving - some of the lovely things I rediscovered this afternoon, starting with some cuticle oil that I had forgotten about!

@MidnightMeltdown - I can’t believe I tried to sell the CR salt scrub on eBay, (and failed😹). I agree - it’s great - my hair actually squeaked - it was so clean. Not sure I will be rebuying at the price, though- will see how long it lasts.

My best ever advent calendar purchase was the ASOS one from a couple of years ago - reduced to £51 for a few hours on BF and I had a £5 voucher so got it for £46, (and it was a good one that year!) I don’t expect to see that kind of bargain again, but hope springs eternal 😹

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 25/08/2024 19:31

i think I must be one of the 1% who love AB.
Intially I rolled my eyes when AB The Rich Cream first appeared & just assumed it was going 2 be pants.
Then I got a trial size of it in a Liberty Beauty Drop Box, I use it as a night cream & I love it! It's fab!

Fedupandstressed · 25/08/2024 20:28

I signed up to the LF monthly box to get £12 off the calendar. Mainly for the Elemis and Medic8. The others are a bonus.

And hopefully they'll do the Boots Premium again, so 2 calendars for less than the price of 1 luxury one. I've used everything up apart from the Harrods Fragrance, but I've ordered that one again as there are some gorgeous scents in there.
I also use the box for keeping them in, plus the ones from Liberty earlier this year.
I started making an effort to get one bottle out to use a week at a time, but I have soooooo many samples to get through. I keep getting the salt works ones. I have little spray vials everywhere.

BakeOffRewatch · 25/08/2024 20:41

I have had ads for L’Occitane and Lush, I’m surprised at the prices of those around the £150 mark. Especially Lush as it’s nearly all bath bombs, though the box is really nice and sold for reuse and sustainability aspect.

I have a bit of CultBeauty credit and they seem to reduce it to £200 every November so might get it then. I also have a bit of BeautyDrop credit and a big Liberty Loyalty voucher coming, so hoping for a good Winter Beauty kit.

I wanted to get a family member the girls Accessorize calendar last year, I know it’s not the theme here, but if anyone sees it launch please let me know! It was 50% off for ages and then sold out before I got it.
