Yes I know, I'm stupidly early, but I love a beauty advent calendar and I've just seen Liberty has stopped a sneak peek at their offering this year...

I would choose lots of skin lotions and serums, lots of perfume and body sprays, and body cream. Definitely no makeup or nail varnish, (especially black mascara and red lipstick), and no candles - I've got a box of about 20 that I've accumulated over the last few years and will never use.

Addictedtobeauty · 20/08/2024 11:59

Thank you @AprilLady for the magnificent spreadsheet. I’m also liking Harrods for the skincare. I wish Vogue would hurry up and reveal! I preordered Liberty with BD credit already, so that feels free. Feelings are important 😁.

Therightcoffee · 20/08/2024 12:40

Dithering here - like f&m, and liberty but can’t decide whether to just buy items I definitely want over these and skip calendars.

liberty and harrods running gwp today but resisted!

TragicMuse · 20/08/2024 13:07

I really enjoyed the Looks Fantastic one I got last year, so I'll be looking out for that!

Puravida23 · 20/08/2024 13:26

Good news for those who missed the Harrods Fragrance advent . Harvey Nicks have just revealed they are doing a 12 day one for £165 so far they have revealed it has Byredo bal d’afrique (8ml) Portrait of a lady and Maison Crevali Neroli Nasimba (30ml). They are also doing a main beauty calendar for £250. Both look interesting to me. The Waitlist is here with a few teasers

MiaN · 20/08/2024 15:03

Thanks for that

MidnightMeltdown · 20/08/2024 16:53

I'm a bit on the fence between F&M and Harrods.

With F&M I like the fact that there are 4 good sized serums (including vit C). Not sure what the MRNA one is though as can't find any info on that. Also like the mascara, and the fact that there are a few perfumes, and a full size AA body oil which I haven't tried (usually we just get the shower stuff). Generally, the products seem to be good sizes in this calendar.

DoDs are the 2 mini candles, eye mask, makeup bag, pillow spray and scrunchie.

Harrods I think comes in second for me. The SPF product is good and I'd like to try the Clarins cream. I already have a couple of EGF serums in my stash, but I haven't tried the power version of this serum.

However, Harrods seems to have less generous sizes than F&M. A 7ml serum, 5ml eye cream, 20ml face cream (which I already have several of) are off putting. IMO that's practically empty packaging 😂.

I'm also not sure that the makeup shades will suit me and I'm a bit disappointed that the Dermalogica product is a toner. On the other hand, no crap like mini candles, scrunchies, pillow mists and eye masks...

Liberty is a definite no for me. I'd like to try the perfumes but I'm not very interested in the other products and I've had most of them before. Plus 2 candles and a pillow mist!

MonkeyTennis34 · 20/08/2024 17:01

Hmm, not keen on the design of the Harvey Nics AC.

I don't think it would look great in my bedroom and might give me a migraine 😂

virgocatlover · 20/08/2024 17:42

Really Ree has unboxed the Space NK calendar on Instagram. It seems quite underwhelming with some DoD's such as AB. And a strange choice for door 25 too, which should be a 'wow' product. Hopefully the list will be published soon, but it looks like I'll be saving £250!

Yes, I watched too…last years was really good, not sure at the moment. I thought the live wasn’t that great though to be honest!
So many lip products…I need to study the list in a more relaxed manner. It felt a bit stressful, but think that’s my old self not really loving the format! 😁

Puravida23 · 20/08/2024 17:57

Mmm just watched the SpaceNk unboxing too. Lots of products but yeah also felt quite underwhelming. No candle only 1 perfume, no lovely bath oil or even a nice Handcream . I just missed the luxe in this advent
Lots of brands that I feel have been rolled out again and again every advent (Kate Somerville exfolikate, Charlotte tilbury, Paula’s choice)
Hope Selfridges Harvey Nicks or even John Lewis can offer better

Orangeslemon · 20/08/2024 18:04

I’ve had Liberty the past couple of years but I’m on the lookout for something different this year. Interested in Harvey Nichols based on the products revealed so far – the Le Labo fragrance is a plus as Liberty always used to contain Le Labo but doesn’t this time.

Space NK has quite a few products I’ve already tried and I’d really like a candle and more than one fragrance… I hope we won’t be getting fewer perfumes and candles due to places doing separate fragrance calendars now?

OchonAgusOchonOh · 20/08/2024 18:05

Hmm. Not so sure on Space NK. It has that awful chocolate lip mask again. I'm not keen on the makeup in it. And the AB and Sunday Riley that turn up everywhere.

Isabelle70 · 20/08/2024 18:10

@BIossomtoes have you seen you can make a lipstick at Code8 in London?
I am thinking of going to make one next time I travel to London for the perfect lip colour but better.

Twinsandsome · 20/08/2024 18:17

BIossomtoes · 20/08/2024 10:57

I think I’m broken. I have enough Beauty Drop credit for the advent calendar so it would be “free” and I just don’t want it. I’ve reached the stage where I have enough holy grail products that most skincare doesn’t tempt me at all. I quite fancy the blusher and eye shadow but I’ll just pick them up on eBay or Vinted.

Please would your share your holy grails? X

Pinenu · 20/08/2024 18:53

I didn’t have the patience for the full unboxing and found it rather awkward.

Looking at the list, they’re all nice products but it feels very repetitive and I can’t say I’d be excited to open it each day.

It would be a good option for someone who hasn’t had an AC before.

I’d love an AC with some bath oils and salts, body oils and lotions, candles, spf, hair masks, face masks, and a few makeup and cosmetic items. Maybe I should just go shopping.

BakeOffRewatch · 20/08/2024 19:10

Have you seen the Bamford one @Pinenu ? I love that brand. Liberty did a winter beauty kit with one of their bath oils and a mini hot water bottle, it’s lovely. https://beautyadventcalendar.net/bamford-advent-calendar-2024/

Coldbit · 20/08/2024 19:41

I'm a bit disappointed in Space Nk, it feels very samey and for me there's no stand out product. They did a good fragrance AC last year which sold out really quickly, wonder if they'll do one again this year

Pinenu · 20/08/2024 19:41

@BakeOffRewatch I missed out on that Liberty kit and still think about it to this day, it was amazing. I don’t think they’ve come close to it since either.

The Bamford AC looks like just my cup of tea. It’s a tad too expensive for a 12 door but if it gets discounted I will pounce. Thank you for sharing.

BIossomtoes · 20/08/2024 19:46

I didn’t know that and am seriously excited by it. Can you choose the texture and density of pigmentation? It sounds wonderful.

My holy grails are Filorga Time Filler eye cream, Sisley Black Rose Oil, Eucerin Hyaluron serum and Elastin cream and Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair serum @Twinsandsome. I always use Suqqu primer after getting it in a BD box and Chantecaille Faux Cils mascara. I can’t see ever changing from those products.

JudgeBurrito · 20/08/2024 20:50

I would agree with this. On the face of it, it has some good stuff but two vitamin Cs, two exfoliants, lots of hair repair products, no candle, and the fragrance seems to be like Escentric Molecules, which does nothing for me. It's a sold offering and I haven't discounted it, but it's not exciting. I think value for money is probably pretty good, there's a lot of full sized items.

VibeOnWithMyGalPals · 20/08/2024 20:58

I watched the Space NK unboxing, and loved the contents. Really generous sizes too for the most part, and glad there wasn’t any red lipstick

MidnightMeltdown · 20/08/2024 21:32

I really like the look of Space NK - I think that this is the best so far! I prefer that it's beauty focused rather than having candles and pillow mists and sleep masks etc filling up doors.

Couldn't stand watching that silly women unboxing it though. She was too far away from the camera to even see the products properly! There's a better video on YouTube which just shows the products.

Unless anything else catches my eye, I might get F&M and Space NK.
Want to see offerings from Vogue, CB Selfridges and JL before deciding though!

Wonder whether NAP will bother this year after their previous flops...

VibeOnWithMyGalPals · 20/08/2024 21:35

I like Really Ree, I think she did a good job, but I agree that we couldn’t see the products, and it was so annoying when that other woman was interrupting her to ask her to recap.
