Really, it's lovely and if it fits then I think it would be suitable at any age.

mnahmnah · 09/06/2024 09:09

Anyone at any age! Not sure if you have bought from them before, but I would size up. They size smaller especially on the bust area!

BagFullOfNoodles · 09/06/2024 09:09

I am 40 and have this dress! It's lovely I'm around a 12 occasional 14 now, but until a couple of summers ago I was an 18/20 and would've still worn it

EllaPaella · 09/06/2024 09:10

That's a really lovely dress and definitely no age limit.

SorenLorensonsInvisibleFriend · 09/06/2024 09:11

Gorgeous dress. I could imagine it looking good for any age, any size. Enjoy it!

Gladespade · 09/06/2024 09:12

It’s really nice. However, i would put myself in the old and fat category and I think I would look a bit matronly in this. Worth a try on though.

Worldgonecrazy · 09/06/2024 09:12

120 years old and fifty stone?

It’s a beautiful dress - if you are well endowed you might need a cami underneath as it’s quite low cut. Have a lovely time.

LivelyTraybake · 09/06/2024 09:14

I wouldn’t say you can be too old,
but clearly you can’t wear it if you are bigger than an 18 because that’s the biggest size they make.
I never understand they “am I too fat for this?” question because it is obvious if they make it in your size you are not.

GlitteringUnicorn · 09/06/2024 09:17

Any age, any size
Apart from this one!!!

I was expecting a crotch high slit or something! This is a very demure dress and very suitable for a wedding.

Misthios · 09/06/2024 09:18

I have a couple of Nobody's Child dresses and they are fab, love them. Very flattering and easy to wear but yes, I'm a size 14 and they fit just, but not roomy like a M&S size 14 or something.

Summertimer · 09/06/2024 09:23

Oo it looks lovely, I’d go for it praps in blue or gingham.

The denim ones are nice, but probs not for a wedding

Workawayxx · 09/06/2024 09:25

Any age or weight that fits in the dress! It’s lovely, such a great colour and really wearable for future events.

TitInATrance · 09/06/2024 09:29

I think if you are fat (don’t like the term!) it would suit you at any age, but if skinny then maybe 40 or under. I’m disappointed to realise that certain styles are aging on the old and thin.

Momstermunch · 09/06/2024 09:31

It's a nice dress but it's not particularly out there or revealing so I can't see why it wouldn't suit pretty much anyone.

CurlewKate · 09/06/2024 09:48

Thank you! I was just worried it might be a little bit "girly". Sadly, it's academic now because while I've spent 24 hours dithering, the bigger sizes have sold out in all colours i I like! Back to the drawing board.

What a strange thread. Clothes aren't off limits because you're "old and fat". Wear what you want.

Exactly, it's sad people think otherwise.

PragmaticWench · 09/06/2024 09:57

Monsoon often have dresses in this cut, if this has sold out.

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 09/06/2024 10:00

I have that dress in a winter version in dark green cord with long sleeves in a size 14. I think it is generously sized.

As for how fat? The designer decided a (generous) 18 was the cut-off. That is almost certainly a commercial decision about stocking levels than a "eugh - I don't want fat people wearing my dress" decision.

As for how old? Really?

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 09/06/2024 10:02

Thank you. I hadn't seen that lovely story.

TootGoesTheOwl · 09/06/2024 10:09

Well you can be too fat, as the dress only ever went up to a size 18.
I do think it is pertinent to consider our age and size when buying clothing (I am a size 20) and it is worth considering that just because they make it in your size doesn't mean something will be 'flattering' to wear.
If you genuinely have no fucks to give about what people think about your clothing choices then obviously go for it and wear what you like, I think most people want to wear something that brings out their best features so taking age and size into account is perfectly normal.
That said, I do think that style of dress would be suitable for most ages/sizes.

They have them in store at M&S so if you really like it it you should try on there.
I have the same dress. Couple of points to note, the fit is small if you have a larger chest. I'm 32FF, usually a 12 but have to size up to 14 in these dresses. Also they are VERY low cut. So if you don't want to have cleavage literally spilling out of the dress at the wedding you will need a cami underneath.
