Ooh wonderful thanks 🤩 I have a trip in a hot city next week

Need some contemporary items for summer please. 2-3 dresses, perhaps a jumpsuit, skirt, trousers. I’d love more colour and like stripes, and a print (not paisley), embroidery.

For context I wfh, and went up from a size 10-14 due to health issues & a baby, so live in jeans, tees and trainers now - terribly boring. I’d love help finding some versatile pieces for my new bod that I can wear with trainers and sandals, and are still suitable for my fairly casual office (when I have to go in), or if I can dress it up fabulous.

Deep winter, 5’2, longer legs, short waisted, large boobs, wider back & shoulders, big tummy. I’ve always been curvy and don’t have much of a waist.

As my legs & bum are now fatter no short dresses or shorts anymore, no thin straps thanks. Need natural fabrics especially up top as I have hyperhidrosis, and run very warm since baby.

I'm so happy to see this, I love your threads!Smile

I'm desperately searching for a dress for Royal Ascot. I already have my hat so I'd like to match the dress to picture.

Price point under £150

I'm on the shorter side so petite styles suit best

@Cappuccino33 some ideas for you

@DahliaRose3 might be a bit late but a couple of ideas. Linen/cotton is very popular this season so a lot easier this summer to find natural fibres. All of the styles below pull the waist in- the wrap style, smocked waistband and tie waist. All of them would work well with sandals and a tee but equally could be dressed up with a block heel, little jacket for a smarter look. Hope you have a nice trip!

Can I ask about trainers please? Nothing too bulky ideally. Currently wearing ancient gazelles. No idea what to buy.

Isabelle70 · 06/06/2024 22:26

I got this jumpsuit for a holiday but feel it needs a belt. Would you be able to recommend a suitable belt? Hopefully budget friendly. I have some cream/off white sandals like the model.
For extra wear, do you think wearing it with an open shirt would look ok? A linen shirt?

frillseeking · 08/06/2024 17:10

@Isabelle70 yes it would look great with a white linen shirt! Here are some belt ideas, hope this helps!

@frillseeking thank you. I will take a look at those belts.
I also took on board your earlier comment to me about trying things on when feeling good and styling them. I styled and kept an item I was originally unsure about and it looks great!

Lougle · 08/06/2024 17:37

@frillseeking I so hope you can help.

DD2 16 and is very shy. We need to go to a wedding. I'm hopeless with clothing. I think she is pear shaped, and her waist always seems really short if we try a dress on (as in the belt sits right under her ribs and makes her top half look really short).

Bust - 39.5" (100cm)
True waist 34.5"(87.5cm) - that's the bit where it pinches when she bends, right?? That seems to be right under her bra line.
Waist 37" (94cm) - that's the fullest part of her waist
Hips 41" (104cm)
Inside leg 31" (79cm)
Height 5'6"

She quite likes the idea of a jump suit but doesn't want to look like a mechanic or a gardener! We need to somehow flatter her tummy.

frillseeking · 09/06/2024 08:48

Hi @Lougle, happy to help. What about something like this pretty jumpsuit from Nobody's child? It's got an elasticated back and a tie waist so you can position the belt where you want to and the elastic helps with fit and is a bit more forgiving. I thought the print would be suitable for a wedding and also age appropriate for your DD

@5amClub adidas gazelles are super on trend at the moment. I'd suggest updating with a new colour, some inspo below. I live in mine and I've also got the bold, love them!

Thanks for the suggestion. I think she'd struggle with the arms and back being elasticated, but it's really pretty.

frillseeking · 09/06/2024 10:22

@Lougle I was thinking this would help with the fit as it's more forgiving. If you send me a DM of a photo it might help x

Thanks, I've sent you a link to one, as you can't DM photos. I really appreciate it.

hailholyqueen · 10/06/2024 13:14

@frillseeking

Mid 30's mum of two who has totally lost her way with normal day to day clothing. Size 18, 5ft6, pear shape, smallish boobs so booby things drown me.

Living my life in leggings and baggy tops which don't bring joy. Any suggestions? Need to be toddler group/softplay compatible. Massive thanks in anticipation!

OhFlapJack · 10/06/2024 19:11

Have you got any recommendations for something to cover up a tummy - size 16 and looking for something to wear to an evening 40th birthday party please!

frillseeking · 10/06/2024 19:17

@AesopsMables self portrait have some gorgeous dresses in the sale at the moment that would be perfect for the races. I've attached some of my favourites below. They come up quite petite in my experience

@OhFlapJack I highly recommend this dress. It really pulls you in at the waist and has a gorgeous wrap/ drape detail to hide the tummy, super flattering! I wore without the straps as I felt this looked much nicer

Hi can you please help? I have to go to a funeral soon. Would like to wear a dress, it might be a hot day. Would like a small hat event. Budget is not big, I'm thinking of Vinted perhaps? As I won't want to wear any of it again I reckon

ADHDHDHDHD · 10/06/2024 20:23

Sorry, forgot to add / size 12 v pale with an unfortunate stomach area

frillseeking · 10/06/2024 21:01

@ADHDHDHDHD I would go for something like this in a lightweight fabric with small sleeve and pulled in waist and full skirt- elegant and suitable for a funeral but still flattering

@ADHDHDHDHD here's the link

Long smock-waisted dress www2.hm.com/en_gb/productpage.1237994002.html

I'd say this is one you can wear again as well if you wanted to

@Thisisthedawningoftheageofaquarius I have to be honest it's hard to find good wrap dresses at the moment. I've attached a few ideas below. & Other Stories are always good for this type of dress but they might be a bit too 'pretty' if you're thinking for work wear. Same with Aspiga but I've attached below in case this is the type of look you were after. The Sosander one could be nice for summer workwear and I like the geo print. Hope that helps. I mentioned up thread that there's quite a lot of DVF dresses on the Outnet so worth checking out
