Fat girl summer - let's slay 💅

So, for those of us who are chunky yet funky, what's the plan ladies?

Shall we give no fucks and wear nice comfy summery clothes or do we worry about keeping every inch of us covered head to toe in black until we sweat so hard we melt? What's the plan?

Currently a size 20/22 myself, unlikely to get down to a magical size 14 by July so I'm looking at the nice comfy looking linen pants, few maxi dresses, shorts because I'm a wee chubby pale rebel and to really go wild a jumpsuit or two.

Simply be has some lovely things at the moment including shoes, asos curve is looking alright and vinted is my best pal.

I'm 35 for a few more months and don't want to have another summer in my 30s hating my body, so this year I'm going to embrace it. Anyone with me?

Today's outfit for a choir performance where the dress code is 'colour'!! I made the skirt, I also dyed the fabric!

Also, the red dress I wore earlier this week, pictures of which I'd promised to @HebburnPokemon

Lovely outfits and the skirt's a great colour! Is it linen and was it easy to die?

Blueberrycreampie · 30/06/2024 18:04

Sorry Dye! 🤣

ChishiyaBat · 30/06/2024 18:34

That green and pink are amazing together @TragicMuse ❤️

BeretRaspberry · 30/06/2024 19:19

I decided to keep the size 20 as the other was a bit too big. Here’s a photo. I hate the fact that the only full length mirror in my house is in one of the teenagers’ rooms because it’s always full of mess (and fingerprints on the mirror today) so detracts a bit! Anyway, it’s lovely on, is light and comfy and it has pockets!

I also ordered the purpley pink one but I think I need to accept I’m not the sort of person who wears colour.

Edited to say, this picture doesn’t do it justice. I actually felt great in it!

That looks fantastic on you @BeretRaspberry ❤️. Your teens room is cleaner than my scruffy fuckers because I can't even see the floor😂.

Love that dress it really suits you!

BeretRaspberry · 30/06/2024 20:22

Thanks you two. ❤️

Oooh, I’ve just tried the purpley/pink colour on and I actually like it!! This is unheard of. I shall be keeping it, though it is exactly the same dress just in a different colour yet is about 4” shorter! If you look at the pic of the blue it’s down to my toes, whereas the purpley one is mid shin! Just a warning to anyone who might order it.

I’ve also got these trousers which are Yours from Next again. I love wide leg trousers and these look really classy on. I have to say I’d prefer nicer fabrics and generally better quality stuff but I think as as size 22 ish, that ship has sailed.

That photo on the left of the red dress looks gorgeous. Do you have any photos of you wearing it, or it on a hanger? I’m going to get my sewing habit up and running again this year and a red dress is definitely on the list. I want to see the top panels with the different prints. Gutted you said it’s from Sainsbury’s as I shop there a lot and would definitely have bought it if I’d have seen it.

Thanks @Blueberrycreampie it's a linen or linen mix - I can't quite remember which. It was cream and I dyed it myself with a box of tulip red and half a sachet of denim blue!!

Blueberrycreampie · 30/06/2024 22:17

Thank you @TragicMuse I want to dye some white trousers linen and viscose mix so I will maybe have a go. I know you do it in a washing machine so will look for the right stuff.

TragicMuse · 30/06/2024 23:13

@FatAndFiftySomething I'll take a picture next time I wear it.

The bodice has a shirred panel across the back and sides so it is the same print but doesn't look it.

I got it years ago, so sadly it's not been available for a long time. Would be relatively uncomplicated to make something similar though...no fastenings or sleeves to deal with!

You should be fine with Dylon on viscose (the linen is a given!) and yes, the machine is really easy. Just make sure you run dark clothes through the next couple of washes! And clean inside the rubber seal.

I dyed last week and this weekend I pre-washed some white linen and there was no colour-bleed, it's survived well!

Good luck!

Blueberrycreampie · 01/07/2024 08:48

@TragicMuse Thank you I will definitely try it soon!

TragicMuse · 01/07/2024 19:44

I bought a Manners halter-neck crop top from Vinted. And it's reminded me why I don't like halter-necks. All that boob-weight on the neck! So incredibly uncomfortable. I wore it for a couple of hours and then had to take it off. Think I'll relist it...

HebburnPokemon · 02/07/2024 09:35

Evenstar crochet dress - loving it!

Lovely. Where is the red dress from? I love girly tea dresses

TragicMuse · 02/07/2024 12:12

@HebburnPokemon it was from Sainsbury, but an aeon ago. Maybe 8 years? A long time anyway.

Until it settles down I shall be living vicariously through you all. Especially the crochet dress. That was absolutely dreamy!
