I've just discovered dungarees, I want to buy them ALL

I'm 45, 'too old' for dungarees I expect but I've bought 2 pairs and I love them! They're so comfortable, so practical.

I'm eyeing up summer ones, autumn ones, winter ones. How many pairs is too many? This is all I'd wear now if I could get away with it!

Awful. No

BreakfastAtMimis · 06/05/2024 18:37

Well, you have two too many pairs already. They're not flattering on anyone over the age of four.

Seahorsesplendour · 06/05/2024 18:37

Totally with you at 46!!! Wore them in early 20’s and now cannot understand why I ever stopped!!!! Where are you finding them??

Not everyone cares about flattering.

Seahorsesplendour · 06/05/2024 18:39

Thankfully old enough not to care what anyone else thinks!!! Maybe that’s why my 22 year old self ditched them!! If only I’d known them what I know now!! 😉

aibutohavethisusername · 06/05/2024 18:41

Popsy clothing

Ilovemyshed · 06/05/2024 18:43

Lucy and Yak!

Tootiredforallthiscrap · 06/05/2024 18:44

Tbf they’re what more mature folk think are edgy. And I’m getting on myself. Wore them during lockdown and they did me no favours.

Netcam · 06/05/2024 18:44

I think they look nice whatever your age, but I wouldn't wear them, simply because it would be too annoying to go for a wee. Same with jumpsuits. But if that doesn't bother you, go for it!

LadeOde · 06/05/2024 18:46

Dungarees are lovely @OP. I'm a great fan of them & older than you and yes they are back in fashion with various fits. You can wear them with a t-shirt or a set or blouse so many options. Never mind all the old foggeys moaning. The point of dungarees is comfort and fit. If you want flattering clothing you buy something else flattering straight/ flared etc trousers a dress or skirt. Its like saying jogging bottoms arent flattering! Of course they're not, that's not the point of them but they're not ugly either.

TeamPolin · 06/05/2024 19:09

Omg, discovered dungarees last year and LOVE them. Couldn't give a shit what anyone else thinks - I'm just so HAPPY when I wear them!! Smile

LemonySnickets · 06/05/2024 19:18

I'm 48 and own and wear dungarees! Love them!

mynameiscalypso · 06/05/2024 19:21

I'm in my 40s and quite like a pair of dungarees but they are not flattering on me at all. They always add at least two dress sizes to how I look.

Winnading · 06/05/2024 19:27

For summer I'm getting some short dungarees from Lucy and yak. I'm waiting for payday right now. If anyone knows anywhere better, let me know.

Jazzicatz · 06/05/2024 19:29

Just got a lovely pair from Run and Fly, bit cheaper than Lucy and Yak and just as comfortable. Check them out!

Lovemusic82 · 06/05/2024 19:31

I live in dungarees, I’m 42. I love run & fly and jambats as well as Lucy and yak, I have quite a few pairs. I don’t care if they are flattering or not, I like them and they are comfy.

yorkypuds · 06/05/2024 19:43

Definitely try different brands. I look huge in Lucy and Yak as they are big in the wrong place for me (hips/thighs) but I love run and fly!
I wear them 80% of the time and give no shits what anyone thinks (although I do get ransom compliments in the street a fair bit!)

Whatineed · 06/05/2024 19:51

I had a maternity pair years ago which I loved, but at my age now I think I'd feel like one of those puppets on Tots TV.

If you enjoy wearing them and feel great in them then more power to you OP.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 06/05/2024 19:58

Ignore what the naysayers says, I hear that there are plans afoot to bring back Play School, and they will be auditioning for people with dungarees.

TuesdayWhistler · 06/05/2024 20:11

I think they look great in just about anyone and everyone..... .

Except.me.

I look like i should be repairing tractors in the top field.

outlandishly · 06/05/2024 20:13

I'm 48 and love mine. They're the wide leg jumpsuit style that o wear a vest under. I was hesitant but they look so good on.
I wouldn't look right in the fitted denim/cord styles like traditional dungarees but the loose ones are lovely.

Withswitch · 06/05/2024 20:16

The word just conjures up the desperate feeling you experience when you hear the strap plopping into the toilet bowl as you try and have a wee.

sevenseasoftea · 06/05/2024 20:32

If you like them wear them, I think they look cute!

pinkspeakers · 06/05/2024 20:43

I love my black cord dungarees from Hush. I'm wearing them now. I wear them for a huge range of occasions depending on what I put with them: work, out for drink, country walk, just at home. For work I wear them with a jacket. I'm 52 and don't care what anyone else thinks! They are so comfy!
