@whinsome my email was a bit strange too!

AFingerofFudge · 12/07/2024 09:27

I have phoned Toast yesterday evening and they processed my refunds on the difference immediately. I've saved £40 which isn't bad as I've only kept 2 items (so far!)

I need to call them tonight - I have 2 orders, that are still within the return time, so I will get some hundred £ refunded, hopefully. They are usually good at that.

I just had a refunds for some returned items from my first sale order. Unfortunately they have only returned 2/3 of the money... I don't get how their computer works, when they state which items are returned, and then end up with a wrong figure.

BarnacleBeasley · 12/07/2024 11:16

Hello Toasties, I hope you don't mind me dipping in with a totally ignorant question about sizing? I've just won £225 on the premium bonds, and I keep getting targeted ads for the Toast sale, so it feels like it was meant to be. I am really tempted by this jumpsuit https://www.toa.st/collections/sale/products/wrap-front-needlecord-jumpsuit-myrtle but although I am on the petite side, I am a fair bit fatter than I used to be. Can anyone advise whether 'slightly big' on the Toast website means 'absolutely bloody massive'? The size estimator thingy is suggesting I buy an 8 (on the basis that I wear an S in Uniqlo) but I just feel it would be a bit demoralising if I order it and can't do it up. None of my existing size 8 clothes fit me at the moment, though I haven't given up hope if I do a bit more exercise and stop eating pringles in the office all day long.

@BarnacleBeasley - welcome.

Does tend to differ by style. Hopefully someone on here will have tried that jumpsuit on so can advise more specifically.

MrsRadichio · 12/07/2024 12:26

@BarnacleBeasley congrats on your win! I haven't got that jumpsuit but also keep eyeing it up. The indigo twill one was very popular on here I recall.

Anyway - in case it helps - based on reviews and the fact it says it runs big I would go down one size from my usual high street size for this item.

Toast are good and fast with returns too - though annoying to have to return in the first place.

I am going in for another look at the sale. I think it is likely to end soon (maybe next week?) So far I have only kept one thing which is the cobalt striped long sleeved top.

Snowyowl78 · 12/07/2024 12:52

@BarnacleBeasley i would try the 6 as well as the 8. I have the indigo one in a 10 and it fits and really I’m a high street 14. I tried the cord one and I don’t think sizing was different.

Popplebop · 12/07/2024 13:05

Live July styling conversations on line right now!!

BarnacleBeasley · 12/07/2024 13:11

Thanks everyone! Lucky everyone is saying to size down, as the 10 is now sold out anyway so it'll have to be the 8 or even the 6!

faustina · 12/07/2024 13:33

@BarnacleBeasley - what a lovely thing to do with your winnings! I hope it looks lovely on you - do come back and let us know!

AFingerofFudge · 12/07/2024 13:38

@BettinaInDenmark it's really interesting what you've said about returns. A couple of weeks ago I posted that I'd returned my first sale order and they'd only refunded one out of the 6 items I returned and I had to chase them.
Now admittedly I do a lot of orders at sale time. Loads. I love to try it all on and end up only keeping 2 or 3 things (probably out of about 60 or 70 things!!!)) as I find it's always the surprises that end up being the keepers!

Anyway, in order to keep the money separate, I pay using PayPal credit card which gives you 30 days and so I return it all hastily. I'm now getting nervous as it is showing I'm at £1700!! I'm keeping items that so far total around £380. Basically I need to painstakingly go through all the orders and tick off the refunds one by one. It's going to take a while but I have a day off on Monday so will have to do it then as I fear they have not refunded me all I'm due. Some of them are still in the system but it's making me jittery!!!

Nanasueathome · 12/07/2024 14:01

I’ve just had email back from Toast
My apron dress was reduced by a further £20 and they’ve refunded that
Really pleased now

Snowyowl78 · 12/07/2024 15:08

I enjoyed the live! I thought both women were good, and I especially enjoyed the model turns at the end of each outfit segment. Caroline is really selling me the orange linen dress, although not sure about the indigo jumpsuit, it looks like a dress so I’m not sure I want that now.

Popplebop · 12/07/2024 18:30

And I also had a successful refund of the reduced items so pleased - thanks everyone. I now need to make excellent use of the items I have kept from this sale! I have been wearing the textured knitted waistcoat today as it has been so damp and miserable - wasn't expecting to wear it until the Autumn...

Popplebop · 12/07/2024 18:35

@Snowyowl78 I also enjoyed the live - I am not sure my bank balance can quite stand any full price Toast purchases right now! I did like a couple of items and the fact the dresses could be tied front and back

AvaGardens · 13/07/2024 04:25

Yes, a good live, best for a while.
Both ladies did an excellent job of presenting and I relate (and buy!) more with their age group 😊

As a consequence of poor summer weather I have ended up with practical, if slightly less exciting, sale items but not such a bad thing to limit my enthusiasm which knows no bounds in a Toast sale.

Whilst watching Wimbledon last night I unpicked the outer frilly bit on the edge of the collar of this cooler weather gingham check blouse. Perfect now at £65!
And yes, I'm posting this just after 4am.
Insomnia is a drag.

Snowyowl78 · 13/07/2024 08:01

@AvaGardens what does it look like now? Hope you got some more sleep!

TosstTastic · 13/07/2024 08:10

Enjoyed the Live, really helps you connect with the clothes
The twill jumpsuit on the right is on my wishlist. Looks like it's been snapped up by others already or are they waiting delivery for the larger sizes?

Countmeout · 13/07/2024 08:28

Yes glad to see the live back. I loved both blue dresses and will hope they reach sale at some point , I have too many dresses. I also loved the orange dress that Caroline wore.
I liked the ecru outfit with the jacket but think I have similar items that I could replicate it with near enough. I was tempted to pop the Prau pumps in my basket for five seconds as the weather has been so rubbish my feet are too cold for sandals and I’m a bit fed up wearing trainers but not sure they’d go with much I have and also feel a bit flat iykwim.

AvaGardens · 13/07/2024 09:17

@Snowyowl78 I'll add a pic when I'm back home, off for weekend now, but very pleased with it, still has the large collar, which I like, but without the fussy frill!

Lagirl20 · 13/07/2024 09:23

Hope you don’t mind me jumping on this thread! I’ve fallen in love with this grey Donegal jumper but wondering if anyone has it? Can you let me know thoughts on quality, longevity, bobbling?
it’s so beautiful but I’m nervous to spend so much on one item! Thanks toasties 😊

softsummer · 13/07/2024 09:49

@Lagirl20 a friend of mine has that one and wears it a lot. It's absolutely gorgeous, looks great on her and she loves it. She says it's extremely warm too. Don't know about bobbling but she gets lots of wear out of it and it still looks new

mizu · 13/07/2024 10:10

@Lagirl20 I have an olive coloured Donegal like this from a sample sale last year and I love it. Wore it much more than I thought I would last winter / spring, it really was my go to jumper.

Boiledeggandtoast · 13/07/2024 12:17

@Lagirl20 I have 3 of these jumpers (our house is very chilly in winter!) in different colours, including the grey, and they are fabulous. They also handwash well.

whinsome · 13/07/2024 12:29

Well, there might've been 4 orders placed since I last said I was done. 🤭

AND

shock of all shocks I am keeping the 3 that have so far arrived.

I ordered a size up in the Anja shirt in redcurrant as I think some of the reviews mentioned gaping and I have a chest. It was what the Toast sizing thing recommended as well. It's great. An orange with a purple weave and buttons which sounds hideous but I really like it. Light material. I'll wear it as an overshirt now (only downside is its a straight hem and I'd ideally like a curved one for overshirt) and under pinafore etc when cooler again. Wearing it makes me smile.

Next to arrive were the organic kick flare jeans. I was a bit worried about these as a tight waist is mentioned in the reviews a few times and I definitely carry more weight there than I used to, but I've been looking for this style of jean for ages and they found their way into my basket. They are slightly snug at the waist but nothing major and there's a bit of give in the fabric. They are high waisted - thinking about it probably very high waisted as I have a long body. I am 5 7 but with short legs (to go with the long body) so they aren't cropped on me but perfect to wear with flats. I bought size that Toast recommended for me. I've worn the Anja shirt and the jeans out already so they are defo staying - with an extra £10 off the shirt which is nice.

The Asawa dress arrived today and I LOVE it. Really was expecting/hoping to not. I ordered a size down from the Toast recommendation. It is snug over the chest (I have plenty volume there) but not too snug. I couldn't wear a top under it right now but am planning on losing a little weight so hopefully come winter I can layer under as well as over it. The fabric is amazing! Swingy and hangs beautifully. Armholes were fine, no bra showing. Can be smart or casual. Waist is high (at least on me to accommodate my bust) and it looks nice with a red belt. I was worried the colour would draining - I suit warm colours - but I think its just about ok and can wear with a bright necklace/scarf etc.

All that's left to come now is the Dahlia Print Organic Cotton Nightdress.

What started as a very bleuh sale for me has turned out to be surprisingly successful. Now I just need to sell a few rarely worn Toast pieces to make space!
