I'm looking for casual dresses

I've bought a few things from Next that I'm really happy with. I was also thrilled to discover that I've gone down a size! I bought a pair of linen-mix trousers in khaki and I got a pair of shorts in the exact same fabric/colour. I figured it's easier to mix and match tops to go with them. And I bought a lovely bikini from New Look which isn't somewhere I'd usually shop. I was sold via a sponsored ad! Next on my list are some light, summary pyjamas. I will probably end up getting some in Primark.

Those linen trousers look great. Have you worn them? I've been bitten before with trousers like that that go very sticky out at the knee. I'd like to chance it though.

@PrimalLass hard to tell if they will eventually go sticky out at the knee (I know what you mean!) but they're so comfortable. They're called wide-leg but they're not too wide which I like. Smart enough for work as well.

@Secondstart1001 I think that I had that one in black last year, and it was lovely- but shrunk after the first wash. Not loads, but it was already the perfect length for me, and it just took it too short, so I had to take it back. Just a warning if it's the perfect length for you now.

@Fluffyc1ouds I hate to tell you but it's not that you're fine down a size but that Next have sized some of their clothing slightly larger this year. I have those linen shorts and they are definitely looser round the waist than the version I bought a couple of years back!

@anon2022anon omg thanks for heads up! I haven’t collect them yet from Next .. will try them on in shop and maybe I should wash at 20 degrees? It’s so annoying when that happens., it’s such a lovely dress, Next has recently been my go to shop. I also ordered a black dress from petites which I thought would be nice for pre beach … will post it so you can have a look 👀 xx

Oh really? I had one last year which was very similar but I haven't worn it since I washed it - bought at the end of summer for Sardinia in September . I'm wondering if mine has shrunk now. It was a bit tight as it was . I definitely need a new one then .

And the shorts I have similar to the linen trousers are elasticated at the back and quite loose .

@ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea it didn't shrink width wise, but length wise. I'm long bodied, so it went from being perfect to 'show a bit of cheek when you lift your arms', which is only a difference of an inch or so for me. Hopefully yours is okay

I just nipped to Next to make a return and picked these lovely red linen trousers up.

This thread has been great for Inspo! Thank you @DGPP for starting it off and all those who have shared! I’ve just made a massive order from Next Petite, cute cropped chinos, magenta tops and a lovely light jumper from Mango. It’s certainly been a kick up the bum to get organised and I’ve put alot of stuff I don’t wear any more on Vinted to make some space and help find the spending! also brought a black and white Strappy dress from Vinted (Mango)… need payday to come now lol!

@PrimalLass just give it a gentle wash inside out … 20 degrees is good and you can add Dettol laundry sanitiser if you’re worried about it not being clean enough! Sometimes Primark can be surprisingly good! It’s a lovely dress, you must be tall (lucky!) 😅

I am a size 18/20 and went with the size on their chart. They are oversized though, but I like that as I wear with knitted dresses, so for a neater fit probably go down a size. I am 5'6", 18 in a jumper from M&S, if that helps.
