Right. So reading this thread I started listing all the lovely things I WANT and love the look of, but then I did the sensible thing and went to the loft to look at my summer clothes to audit what I have. I actually have more shorts than I thought, so the sweatshorts I had ordered got sent back, even though they were only a tenner. The fit wasn't perfect either, so it's something I'll keep an eye out in case I find the perfect pair.
Most of my trousers look a bit shabby. I thought I had loads, but most of them actually need replacing. I went for a look around the shops yesterday, and was v disappointed in the black and white monochrome at the local H&M store. They did have some nice simple linen trousers in white, navy and black and a few in more beigey colours, but they were a bit thin and see-through. I have a pair of navy ones from them from years ago but they are on their last legs. But I guess at that price point (£17-27) you can't expect the world.
Arket had some nice things, but lots of colours that didn't suit me.
&other stories - too much fluff and puff and tiers. I despaired and left quickly
I tried on about a million pairs of jeans, and I think what I'd like is loose-fitting, wide-leg, sort of slouchy light blue pair for the summer. All my jeans are mid to dark blue or black, and I'd like a light pair for the spring, preferably mid-rise. Just slightly overwhelmed with options.
I tried on the black White Stuff dress I linked up thread, and it's lovely - very flattering on an hourglass size 14. The £79 seems a bit high but I haven't found anything else I love so far. I just wonder if I should branch out to a brighter/lighter colour.
The only thing I did buy was a pair of VERY wide leg black cotton trousers from COS. Just checked and they don't seem to be on the website which is odd. Black yet again, but they are to replace a worn-out pair of Baukjen trousers I've had for years. The jersey on them is quite stretched out and the fabric looks a bit pilly and faded. The COS trousers were incredibly light and I think they'll be great even on hot days
The only other thing I am contemplating on getting is a playsuit/romper (as much as I hate the word) for hot days at home. Some of them can be pretty cute, but as I'm not sure how much use I'll get out of it, I'm wondering about looking somewhere cheap like New Look for one, or even Vinted. If I end up wearing it lots, I can look at buying a nicer one at the end of summer sales for next year.
