I like the Kindred basket. I think it’s a really nice gift. I wanted to put it on my windowsill- possibly with the baubles - but it won’t fit - too narrow 😾How are other people using theirs?

I got made Kindred last summer - several days after buying a post pass and before using it, (which was annoying). I suspect I might get struck off this summer for not buying enough, especially as shop purchases don’t count, apparently, (which is doubly annoying if true!)

Are the gifts with purchase usually twice a year?

Re: The skirt- for something I wasn’t sure about keeping, I seem to have worn it a lot this week😹

Toastlurker · 23/02/2024 00:12

@Dee1224 you can link in-store purchases to your account- just ask them to do it and give them your details/email address linked to your account when you’re at the till and it will store the order.

Dee1224 · 23/02/2024 00:35

Thanks @Toastlurker I do usually do that and I hope it counts. It was someone on here who said that a Toast assistant had said store purchases don’t count.

I can’t remember who it was who mentioned it. It was quite recently, I think.

oddandelsewhere · 23/02/2024 00:51

It was me who said it, I asked an assistant I think in Llandeilo. How very annoying that they didn't volunteer the information that they could be linked to an account and therefore count towards kindred. I much prefer trying things on in the shop before I buy them and not constantly returning things, but I have been buying more online recently just to keep kindred. It is a nice basket isn't it !

Toastlurker · 23/02/2024 01:09

I double checked last week that it’s linked with Kindred and the assistant confirmed so I hope she was right!

Dee1224 · 23/02/2024 09:07

Thanks @Toastlurker - I have bought quite a few things in store this year, so that’s good to know!

FiddleFigs · 23/02/2024 11:13

Lovely (and useful) Kindred gift!

I finally gave in and bought the skinny garden bloom bandana. I feel like it's rather pricey for what it is - but it's very wearable, and much easier to tie and work with than a square bandana. I might copy the dimensions to rustle up a few more out of odd lengths of Liberty lawn I've been saving.

I also bought the crinkle cotton stripe skirt and absolutely love it, and sizing is accurate - I really appreciate that Toast now lists garment measurements. I know I'll get so much wear out of it, so although it's a bit more than I'd usually spend on a skirt, I think it's worth it.

Dee1224 · 23/02/2024 12:38

I would definitely snap that skirt up in any future sale @FiddleFigs - I can’t pay full price for it in top of the olive crinkle I bought instore.

It’s lovely but I was told it was only available online, which is why I didn’t try it on last week. However, I can see from its reviews that someone tried it on instore so presumably the assistant just meant they didn’t stock it in that shop!

Snowyowl78 · 23/02/2024 17:45

Has anybody ever tried to have a Lydia dress taken in? I have a 16 which I could do with being a 14, or matching the current sizing for a L. I have the black one in a L and it’s perfect but the blue 16 I have is considerably bigger and I’d like it matched to the L black one. Just wondering if this is a silly costly idea or if it would be possible (with a tailor - not me!). I’m talking about the straight up and down ones rather than the new v neck bell shapes.

Countmeout · 23/02/2024 18:21

I’m sure it’s possible @Snowyowl78 . I had mine taken up so the material is sewable I suppose. I had a Boden dress taken in, similar shape but cotton (with a lining) . It was £15 about 5 years ago. Unfortunately I’m now slightly heavier . I sometimes keep a fat item and a thin item now if I like the garment very much 🤭

Snowyowl78 · 23/02/2024 18:27

Thanks @Countmeout to my untrained eye it looks pretty easy as they are straight up and down and I’d be prepared to pay £20 for it I think!

AvaGardens · 23/02/2024 21:16

@Dee1224 hello from a fellow olive crinkle skirt lover 😃, I wish they'd have more choice of colours available, I'm going to be wearing mine out!

I'm using my bowl to hold curtain hooks, not very Toasty I'm afraid.
I should really be using it to keep my spoon whittling kit in it, but I've just moved house and I'm losing my mind slightly disorganised 😊

Stoic123 · 23/02/2024 22:51

@AvaGardens - 'Spoon Whittling Kit' is definitely peak Toast.

FiddleFigs · 23/02/2024 23:51

@Dee1224 - I’ve got my eye on the olive crinkle skirt if it makes it to a sale - really lovely colour.

Gathered skirts are always a bit much on me, but the proportions of the crinkle skirts work really well.

Dee1224 · 24/02/2024 00:08

Hi @AvaGardens - great username btw! The olive crinkle has really grown on me. I think it would be also be lovely in a lighter green or rust colour.

I agree @FiddleFigs - gathered skirts usually do nothing for me but the length on this is so good. I just hope it doesn’t shrink - upwards or inwards 🤞🤞🤞

AFingerofFudge · 25/02/2024 16:32

I've had a random "Welcome to Toast" email this afternoon. As though the £££ I've spent with them count for nothing Grin Shame there was no discount code with it!!

sonjadog · 25/02/2024 17:49

Has anyone tried the Cotton Linen Poplin Apron Dress? I am curious about the fit, and also I would like to see it on more people than the model before I order it. I have to pay for postage and returns, so I'm not keen to order up just to see what it is like...

Dee1224 · 25/02/2024 17:51

@sonjadog - I saw someone trying it on at the Kindred event. She was a tiny person and tried it over what she was already wearing. Maybe because of that, but, tbh, it did look like she was wearing an apron imo.

sonjadog · 25/02/2024 17:53

Thanks @Dee1224 I am wondering about that too. Am I going to end up hoiking it down at the front/back all the time and retying the strings..?

Dee1224 · 25/02/2024 17:56

One of the staff tied her in neatly @sonjadog - obviously not an option at home 😹

Stoic123 · 26/02/2024 16:22

How are people's Reworn items? My new to me jumper is lovely.

mizu · 26/02/2024 18:02

@Stoic123 that is currently one of my favourite colours. Gorgeous Star

Countmeout · 26/02/2024 18:44

I love that colour too @Stoic123 .
I received my second reworn item today. I bought the Ono gown, not sure about a shorter gown but thought it might be good for summer. I love the colour. In excellent order and nicely wrapped in tissue.

As usual 🙄 when wandering round the website I spotted this which I hadn’t noticed. Need to try it on with various items but I always wanted an embroidered item and thought it not the worst priced. Does anyone who has been in a shop know if this the the same shade as the coat worn by the Venetian Pantry? Inevitably in the flesh it’s slightly duller than the photography shows but there’s lots of possibilities with the colours in the embroidery.

I bought that jumper in the previous sale @Stoic123 and it’s been my most worn item since. Such an uplifting shade.

My reworn linen dress arrived over the weekend and it’s beautiful. Listed as near new but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s never been worn. Also so nicely packed.

I was wondering about anyone on here with the old cropped Annie denim trousers. I’ve had mine for a while, and had to wash it for the first time on the weekend (I try not to wash denim ever) - the material was softened and by midday today the knees were awfully baggy and looking terrible. Has anyone else experienced this? I’m really disappointed as I wear them a lot, but I can’t stand the baggy knee effect.

faustina · 26/02/2024 19:30

@Stoic123 - that is beautiful! There was a jumper which I almost bought, but which had been sold by the time I got round to it which I'd had on my Wishlist - so annoying! (even though I really don't need anymore jumpers). Anyway in the end the only thing I bought was some black coffee linen pull on trousers which were described as good condition as far as I remember, but there were actually two rips in the seams underneath each pocket - on the actual hip, so I have returned them as not really fit for wearing. They sent me the kindred gift too which I felt a bit embarrassed about since the trousers were so cheap. I've returned previous gifts in similar circumstances but this time I kept it - a: because it's pretty and b: because I would have kept the trousers if they hadn't been ripped
