Did anyone watch the "live" today? I watched a bit and then decided I couldn't stand hearing the word "lovely" any more.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 02/05/2024 17:40

@sonjadog or "favourite".

Although I did watch it all, but I'm really not keen on Nikki and Penny from 'Style in the Stix ' , they didn't inspire me to want to buy anything.

sonjadog · 02/05/2024 17:43

I am sure they are nice people and their Instagram page is probably very good (I have never looked), but I am not sure they have the charisma needed for selling things live.

ironingboredagain · 02/05/2024 19:25

Robust feedback was given about style in the stix at the Shoreditch event!

sonjadog · 02/05/2024 19:27

Now I am curious, what did people say?

Countmeout · 02/05/2024 20:47

I have been out but just popping in to say the blue sundress is now available in all sizes. I will report back once I get it. I haven’t seen the live yet, will come back later.

Overuse of the word lovely was mentioned

Watched the Live today and it and made me really nostalgic for Nikki's ones.

Watched a few minutes of this one on FB and the difference...

Nikki always seemed so adorably awkward in front of the camera, it was very endearing. Plus, she had all the hard work of figuring how to make the Live's a success. Those early ones set in pools of shadow atmospherically concealing all useful clothing detail 😍

OftenOrange · 03/05/2024 00:15

The stix are quite annoying , partly the double act and even more the gushing language . Toast would be better using their existing staff to introduce the outfits ,they could do so much better than this pair .

Nikki was spot on in presentation and had a great eye ,sadly missed.

Countmeout · 03/05/2024 06:24

The top you were talking about has also appeared online @ScottishMouse

I’ve now watched the live. Did anyone notice how many very low arm holes there were? Bras showing. The shape of quite a few of the dresses/tops mean that happened and I had already wondered about this dress in particular
https://www.toa.st/collections/womens-dresses/products/stripe-block-print-cotton-dress-greengage
It and a few others are very cut away at the front. The white poplin top also had a bra issue (although you can solve it with a hat 🤣)

I do like live because you can get some idea about a garment and hope they continue going forward but it’s obviously difficult to find a presenter that works.
I see Gabriella Moran is doing the next live on 17th focussing on dresses . I found her good to watch.

Thanks @Countmeout!

ScottishMouse · 03/05/2024 07:07

I know this has been asked before, but I can’t find where it was discussed. Is the Cleo tshirt the same as the old Emma, or is it straight in the body but otherwise the same? Has anyone bought/tried one recently and if so, how is sizing compared to Emma? Thanks.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 03/05/2024 08:39

Yes, I noticed the low arm holes @Countmeout , and the greengage dress was the only one that caught my eye. I very much doubt I will buy any of the sleeveless dresses.

Stoic123 · 03/05/2024 08:40

@Countmeout - yes, difficult. I liked the Stix ladies on the first one they did - the gushing worked well when discussing gifting. Very jolly and Christmassy. Last two ones not so much. Am being a fusspot.

I liked Gabriella's styling last time (denim tousers under loose dress etc). Easy to see how might work for those of us who are not a size 8.

Maybe the new season just isn't doing it for me. I am digging out my summer wardrobe this weekend and that may perk up my interest.

AvaGardens · 03/05/2024 09:12

I had a good whinge earlier on in this thread about the 'everything is lovely' ladies, and how competent Nikki was in contrast, this weeks live exceeded previous 'loveliness and niceness' vids 😅
Yes, armholes way too low on sundresses, and the square cut backs revealed the bra of even the tiniest of models!!

ScottishMouse · 03/05/2024 09:21

I have a somewhat unplanned trip to London at the start of next week and hope to get to a Toast to see the new things. On different days, I will be near the Shoreditch, Marylebone & Mayfair stores. Which would you recommend, as I can probably only visit one? Thanks.

ScottishMouse · 03/05/2024 09:21

Also maybe the Bloomsbury store, but is that just menswear?

sonjadog · 03/05/2024 09:26

I am on my way to my first ever Toast shop shortly! Arriving in London in a few hours’ time. I am going to the King’s Road shop first as I phoned a couple and they seemed to have the best selection of the items I am interested in.

ScottishMouse · 03/05/2024 09:35

Ooh exciting @sonjadog !! Do report back later.

Stoic123 · 03/05/2024 09:56

@ScottishMouse - I've prefer the Mayfair to Marylebone one. More space and a smidgeon more friendly in my view. Never been to Shoreditch.

ScottishMouse · 03/05/2024 10:09

Thanks @Stoic123

lordloveadog · 03/05/2024 10:34

Watched the styling video. They do blither, but at least they dress everyone in clothes that actually suit them and work together. Some of the previous ones seemed to be sartorial satire. On the other hand, they only have very slight models and I did enjoy seeing the clothes on a range of shapes.

Have fun sonjadog! Looking forward to a nice full report, please!
