Me too @Countmeout !

faustina · 17/04/2024 20:15

oh yes, that s nice @Countmeout ! I have a terrible jacket habit at the moment - just ordered three from Uniqlo to try on, but none as nice as that

lordloveadog · 17/04/2024 22:23

That’s a jacket which might actually suit me! I tried some of the recent offerings but dh said they made me look like Mrs Maisel’s manager, which unfortunately was true.

Unwitting · 18/04/2024 09:54

I am so sick of seeing Men's New In now. Although I do really like that pale blue jacket. Sadly DH/DS reject most of Toast & it wouldn't fit me.

OftenOrange · 18/04/2024 12:35

@Unwitting I look back on the days before Menswear with affection, now the Women’s stock in stores is really poor .My husband would never wear Toast , I don’t know many men who would come to that.

OftenOrange · 18/04/2024 12:40

I just ordered the Flower Mountain sneakers in the dark navy brown colourway , I tried the beige ones and prefer them, but as I plan to wear them for a bit of non hilly hiking I fear the light ones would soon look grubby .
Does anyone have them , I wondered how they are for long walks and also how they fare being worn with dresses ( I’m not young and don’t want to look as if I’m trying to be!)

FitzLea · 18/04/2024 15:04

@OftenOrange I have them in the navy/sage colour way and wore them with a crinkle cotton dress yesterday, absolutely lovely and so, SO comfortable and did a fair amount of walking. (I’m not aware that the trainers/dress combo is for young people only, but I felt good and comfortable).

OftenOrange · 18/04/2024 18:07

@FitzLea I’m thinking that would be a great combo, my dresses are either denim pinafores or the Bryn crepey style . Think I need a crinkle !

FitzLea · 18/04/2024 19:28

@Countmeout I did think it looked nice but I think the trainers would look really nice with denim pinafores too. That’s how this latest one is styled and I think it looks lovely.

FitzLea · 18/04/2024 19:31

@OftenOrange what I did think was that the trainers might work better with a dress with some shorter socks, rather than longer socks that bunch at the ankle.

faustina · 18/04/2024 19:35

lots of reworn things on the site just now !

ScottishMouse · 18/04/2024 21:22

Ooh thanks @faustina. Have just ordered a robe, a sweater, and a dress. Oops. Have had an incredibly difficult day today, so that has cheered me up a little.

OftenOrange · 20/04/2024 14:13

@FitzLea I’m super pleased with the Flower Mountains, the darker colourway works so much better and even feels neater on the foot . First time ever a new item has gone straight into use!
As a great fan of denim pinafores can I justify the latest one shown with these shoes ? It’s so lovely with a more fitted shape.

Husband may even go into Toast to try the FM trainers ! However he keeps asking silly questions like ‘are they waterproof ‘ , hasn’t quite grasped the horses for courses aspect ….

OftenOrange · 20/04/2024 14:15

In action

FitzLea · 20/04/2024 16:50

Oh that’s perfect @OftenOrange! So funny you say that your husband would try them - I noticed my husband eyeing mine the other day and said I’d get him a pair too.

sonjadog · 20/04/2024 20:01

I am going to be in London for the weekend in a few weeks’ time and have some hours before I meet friends to fill. Which Toast shop would you recommend visiting? I am thinking I can try out a few items I have been looking at but don’t want to pay to get sent here!

Countmeout · 20/04/2024 20:21

Nottinghill is supposed to be the biggest @sonjadog and I think are supposed to stock everything, but don’t be afraid to ask if they have something/a different size. They seem to like to keep most of the stock in the stockroom in all the shops!

sonjadog · 20/04/2024 20:39

Great thanks! I should be able to get there easily enough.

ScottishMouse · 22/04/2024 21:53

Received my Reworn items today. Two are going back. The sweater was in terrible condition - there was so much pilling and it looked really scruffy. The dress was a wool shirt dress in navy and yellow check from some years ago and it was nice and in good condition but it just didn’t suit me. The robe is a navy floral one from last season and is in perfect condition. It’s a little bigger than my other one as that is a S and this is S/M, but it’s not too big so I will keep it. It was a bargain at £52.

OftenOrange · 23/04/2024 09:23

@ScottishMouse The robe was a great buy ,how lovely.
interesting that the jumper was below par. I can understand someone sending them the jumper, but a beautiful robe …..I wonder if they pop in a few things from returns or such ?

OftenOrange · 23/04/2024 09:29

The Kindred styling events with Evie are back , and in multiple venues this time.
I’ve signed up for one near me , wondering if there’ll be 15 % off again , and if so if there’s anything I ‘need’ .
Wish I could move on some items I rarely wear , I’ve a ludicrous wardrobe of Toast dresses and blouses, but I only wear jumpers , t shirts and Annies in Winter, then thin linen for Summer in Southern Europe. I’ve sold loads of other stuff but my Toast items still speak to me !

ScottishMouse · 23/04/2024 09:35

@OftenOrange i bought a reworn sweater previously and it was perfect, so it was a bit of a surprise that this one was so terrible. But yes, perhaps the robe was used in store or a styling event or something so wasn’t strictly speaking new, I can’t imagine that anyone would have donated it back.

sonjadog · 23/04/2024 10:05

I saw a dress in the reworn section that I would have liked if new, but it looked really faded and worn in the photos, so I moved on. I thought it was just a bad photo, but maybe it really was faded and worn looking. I am not convinced about the "reworn" thing. Where are these items from? What are they paying to get them returned to them?

Countmeout · 23/04/2024 12:11

Was that in an email @OftenOrange about the styling event?

I have only bought 2 items in reworn so far and both were immaculate.
i have a theory maybe staff are encouraged to give their uniforms, not sure if these are fully subsidised but I understand they get 60% discount on other purchases. Obviously some of the stuff is a great deal older , maybe stuff people can’t get rid of on eBay.
