Justine Tabak (.co.uk) has some great summer pieces still in the SALE. I just bought a Liberty and an Irish Linen dress - bargain !!!

Thanks @Countmeout. That would look good as a waistcoat!! Something a bit different.

I immediately want the culottes 🙈

Brackenfield · 04/04/2024 13:57

I'm quite tempted by the fan 😅 I nearly purchased the previous ones but being from NI both colourways were a bit too on the nose..! This one seems more politically neutral 😉

sonjadog · 04/04/2024 14:10

You could have bought two, one in each hand? Or used them alternatively at different times of the year? ;-) (I am from NI too originally)

Countmeout · 04/04/2024 15:15

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 @Brackenfield @sonjadog .

😂Gotta keep that Kindred budget spending up somehow

Hello! I hope it's okay to drop in and ask a question. Did anyone buy the check crinkled cotton pinafore dress that was in the sale recently and have you washed it yet? I've ordered it in two sizes and both fit ok. I prefer the smaller size but am not sure if this type of fabric is likely to shrink/get extra crinkled in the wash, does anyone know? I'd be very grateful for any advice, thanks!

Stoic123 · 04/04/2024 23:04

@puddles75 - I haven't got the pinafore dress but have bought crinkled cotton (similar material) dresses from Toast in the past. I think there was a slight shrinkage after washing - not a full size down and not a cumulative effect but dresses felt slightly more fitted after first wash.

I am prone to fluctuating weight so would wait for a second opinion from others on here.

LoveFairIsleJumpers · 05/04/2024 08:36

Waistcoats over dresses look great - often much better than a cardi. I have that waistcoat . . . LOVELY and very versatile/useful .

I bought the pinefore too, but it feels a bit smallish...
I have other items from Toast in crinkled cotton - top, trousers and dress. All of them shrinked a bit in the wash, as the fabric "crinkled together" a bit more.

Countmeout · 05/04/2024 09:42

I have the pinafore but despite wearing it a lot haven’t washed it yet. It’s not near any bits to make it dirt and I air after each wear. I think given what has been said about the crinkle material when I do wash it I’ll do it at 20 for 15. Can’t see it would need more than freshening@puddles75 given the colour. I bought the smaller of the 2 sizes I ordered and am not sorry. The larger would have been too loose .

sonjadog · 05/04/2024 10:52

@puddles75 I don't have the pinafore but I have a dress in the crinkle material and it does shrink a bit (or rather crinkle even more) when washed, but I find it uncrinkles and returns to normal size after a short while wearing it.

SaffyRosie · 05/04/2024 13:16

I'm pleased that finally there are some new items; fed up with receiving emails proclaiming 'new in' and finding it's the same old stuff.

Anyway I rather liked the V-Neck Stripe Organic Cotton Poplin Dress at 165gbp . I would love to get some feedback on how the sizing is. I live in Portugal so it's difficult for me to exchange or return items. I normally get an order sent to a friend who will visit me soon after and get them to try it on for size and style. But it's a bit hit and miss as she's 6 inches shorter than me and an apple shape whereas I'm a pear.

Anyway I showed the photos of the dress to my husband who said "it's a bit plain". Hmm....

And when I showed him the Leaf Embroidered Stripe Poplin Dress he said the embroidery looked like cruxifixes. Which after he mentioned rather put me off. Plua the extortionate price of just shy of 300 gbp.

I also like the Tiered Cotton Poplin Dres but orange is not one of my colours and the liquorice navy is too dark for me. Nice to have a v- neck rather than the round necks everywhere. I find v-necks more flattering on my aged neck, round ones just emphasise the neck rings.

SaffyRosie · 05/04/2024 13:51

Has anybody bought the Stripe Organic Crinkle Poplin Dress in Pulp/bright sky?

Are the colours as "warm" as they look in the photos?

ScottishMouse · 05/04/2024 17:45

Does anyone have the wool cashmere raglan cardi that they are now calling Eden? I tried it on ages ago but wasn’t sure on sizing, but I really like a couple of the colours and would like to try again. They don’t have it in my local store so need to order online. If I remember, I found the medium better in the body, but the sleeves on the small were a better length. I don’t want it super fitted but not massively oversized either. Want to be able to wear it over a thin tee but also over a few layers in winter. Can anyone tell me whether you went up or down a size or compare sizing to other Toast knitwear items you have? Thanks!!

ScottishMouse · 05/04/2024 17:51

@puddles75 I also have the crinkle pinafore and love it. I wish it was a little less snug on the bust but I still prefer this size to the bigger one I tried. I haven’t washed it yet, but I can imagine it tightening up a little bit then relaxing on wear. Hope that helps you decide.

puddles75 · 05/04/2024 21:21

Thanks so much for the crinkle/pinafore advice. That's what I was imagining @BettinaInDenmark and @sonjadog - a bit of sort of extra crinkling that happens in the wash. Glad to hear it doesn't get smaller and smaller though @Stoic123! And good point about it not needing much washing @Countmeout. That's what I'm choosing between @ScottishMouse - a slightly taut or slightly baggy bust! They're probably both fine tbh, kind of wish I'd just ordered one size now. Will try on again in the morning and decide. It's a beautiful dress! Thanks again all Smile

OftenOrange · 05/04/2024 23:04

@ScottishMouse I have that cardigan in orange from the last sale, I took my usual S . It’s quite roomy but despite initially thinking I’d return , I now like it because it hangs nicely and goes with so much in my wardrobe.
I haven’t noticed any change in size with the new sizing so far .Don’t size up in this one !

ScottishMouse · 06/04/2024 08:23

Thanks @OftenOrange. I’m pretty sure that’s a different cardigan though. Is that the one with a wee pocket on the chest? I tried that one too but thought it fitted quite differently to the Eden, especially the sleeves. It didn’t work for me sadly, otherwise I would have pounced on it in the sale.

Countmeout · 06/04/2024 09:50

I now can’t unsee the crucifixes @SaffyRosie .

OftenOrange · 06/04/2024 09:57

@ScottishMouse You’re right, heavens I thought the sale price was steep but £215 for a cardigan with just a small percentage of cashmere is a step too far . I’ve the v neck boyfriend style from Toast which needs constant depilling, and a comparable weight in 100 per cent cashmere from Cos and Bompard which are warmer and don’t pill at all.
Despite the comparison of durability and quality I go back to Toast for the styling and lovely colours.
