Has anyone pre ordered the waistcoat? 13th May seems very far away. I think I’ve discounted the top to use instead but am reluctant to tie up money for that length of time, never mind needing to order 2 sizes to see what the fit is like? I assume they take the money now rather than on dispatch.

I never pre-order tbh. I would just wait until you see it selling out.
In other news I got the a dark red/burgundy dress by sideline at the bargain price of £66 from Uniform research. It should come tomorrow. Its a medium but I have heard that they run large and this dress is described as 'oversized' It may not suit me either but at that price, worth a try.
I also ordered the scoop neck olive long linen dress and the linen garment dyed apron dress with the fine straps in coffee colour and a stripey Alda tee. Rather a lot for me to order but with sizes, who knows!

couldhavegonethen · 08/04/2024 21:45

@ScottishMouse I have that cardigan in pea shoot. The size I bought was determined by the sleeve length. I tried S & XS and bought the latter. I don't think you need to size up.

ScottishMouse · 08/04/2024 23:22

Thanks @couldhavegonethen I have ordered S and M to try as they weren’t available to try at my local store. They should arrive tomorrow I think, so fingers crossed one of them works well.
Do you find there is much pilling?

couldhavegonethen · 09/04/2024 06:05

@ScottishMouse . It's a beautiful cardigan but for some unknown reason I haven't worn it yet!

BettinaInDenmark · 09/04/2024 12:45

I was good :)
Returned most of the things I got in the recent sale, and only kept:

  • Ruffle colour crinkle twill shirt in spruce
  • Dotty print crepe shirt dress in posy green
  • Flecky wool cashmere sweater in spruce
  • Gathered waist crinkled cotton pinafore dress in navy
  • Fair isle yoke mohair blend sweater in marble green
Today I'm wearing the black crinkled cotton dress from last year, and it fits perfectly with today's weather. Right now, I'm wearing leggings and trainers with it, but hopefully it won't be too warm to wear later on with sandals.
ScottishMouse · 09/04/2024 16:26

My cashmere wool cardigans arrived, and I cannot decide what to do. The size small is a bit neater than I would like in the body, it feels a bit too neat over anything more than a tshirt, and I am a layerer. The medium is so comfy and I can layer better but I wonder if it looks just a little too sloppy.
I also ordered the neat vneck cardigan in harissa which I tried last autumn but couldn’t decide on. It is even less useful for layering, the sleeves are slim so it doesn’t fit that well over long sleeves. But the colour is amazing and I do like the style.
What to do….
I also ordered the new button back top in the same fabric as the Lydia dresses. The medium is too tight on the bust, the large is pretty good, but it might be a smidge long (I am short) and as a result a bit frumpy looking. It needs to be tried on with more.

For all those put off by high seller fees and/or only listing during seller fee offers, eBay has just made it free to sell pre-owned clothes.
Bit bemused, but hey! 🤷‍♀️🤗

ScottishMouse · 09/04/2024 16:40

Well that is a bit weird @Stravaig .

Countmeout · 09/04/2024 17:00

I saw that @Stravaig but wondered how they’d recoup it somewhere e.g. postage or something. I haven’t sold on eBay for a long time so not sure they can do that. There must be a catch.

couldhavegonethen · 09/04/2024 17:12

@ScottishMouse . If you really love the wool cashmere cardigan then get the medium and embrace your layering! Which colour did you order? I'm more likely to wear mine just over a shirt/tee shirt unbuttoned or round my shoulders.

ScottishMouse · 09/04/2024 17:19

I got the carmine red @couldhavegonethen It is really beautiful, but it has gone back in the parcel for now. It has to be absolutely perfect for that price and I’m just not sure it is.

MrsRadichio · 09/04/2024 17:43

A rep from eBay was on you and yours on radio 4 yesterday. I didn’t hear the full interview but sounds like they needed to change their model due to vinted et al.

I really love that waistcoat with the embroidered —crucifixes— leaves on it.

I’m Toasting today in the chambray dress with tie collar and floral gherkin. Feels unseasonable in this unexpectedly chilly weather!

@neveradullmoment99 would be interested to hear about the sideline dress. Is it the striped one? I keep looking at the blue one on there. Also the linen silk shirt from toast on there looks good.

annoying @ScottishMouse , perhaps the cardigans will appear in a sale if the full price costs seems too much. I size up for knitwear as I always cause the dreaded shrinks!

MrsRadichio · 09/04/2024 17:44

Hmm annoying cross out fail

Yes it is the striped one with the slight ruffle on the collar. It came today and it is gorgeous. I would say extremely generous. I am a 14 and It is slightly oversized in the medium. Its a keeper at £66. The material is absolutely beautiful.

MrsRadichio · 09/04/2024 18:03

Lovely dress - am jealous as they did it in blue which I would have bought at that price, but the rust colour wouldn’t suit me.

neveradullmoment99 · 09/04/2024 18:06

My olive dress also came today from Toast. It is gorgeous. I ordered the medium but it is slight snug on the back. I have ordered the large to compare. Just thinking it will probably be huge and I will be between sizes yet again.

They'll make money from promoted listings I imagine. I've used these when something has taken a while to shift. Normally a high demand for Toast so not needed but other brands can need a boost.

Snowyowl78 · 09/04/2024 19:55

@ScottishMouse im interested in that Lydia top too, and the matching shorts! Based on what you’ve said I’d probably try a large, and I’d generally do a bit of a half tuck on the front to deal with any length issues. Are you going to keep it?

ScottishMouse · 10/04/2024 01:14

I don’t think so @Snowyowl78. It was almost perfect, but a small but gapey under the arms in the L and a little too swingy for me too - swingy tends to just hang down from my bust and not look great.
But it is a really nice top, the neckline is great and the buttons at the back are lovely too.

MrsRadichio · 11/04/2024 10:36

There is a peacoat in size 14 on reworn if anyone is interested...

Countmeout · 11/04/2024 12:36

Has anyone noticed there is no upcoming live? I like to watch these and am slightly disappointed they are not showing any summer things despite adding items .

@Countmeout - yes, and I also noticed neither Nikki nor Laura (the designer) have done one for quite some time either
