So glad the jumper worked on you @RockaLock - it does feel so soft and cosy!

I agree the boots are quite spacious, but I do prefer that.

ScottishMouse · 26/03/2024 17:50

Is that the new apron dress @sonjadog ? I like the look of that a lot.

I tried on my sale purchases again, and everything is going back apart from perhaps the mariner jumper. It would be very useful but I wonder if it will stand up to the amount of wear I might want out of a navy jumper or if it will pill a lot. I have a very old navy fisherman sweater which I prefer but is really worn out looking now. But I have worn it to death over about 8-10 years and I don’t think the mariner would give that kind of service. Can anyone who has had it a while comment on whether it pills badly? I always think plain dark colours look the worst with even a light amount of pilling.

sonjadog · 26/03/2024 18:05

@ScottishMouse Yes, the new one. For once I paid full price on a garment! I think it will be worth the cost for how much I will wear it.

ScottishMouse · 26/03/2024 18:24

Which colour did you go for @sonjadog ? I am ok paying full price for something that will get lots of wear. I have done it in the past for pinafore dresses and Alix trousers and all have been worn lots.

sonjadog · 26/03/2024 18:28

@ScottishMouse I went for the navy. I am much more a navy than a green person. I'll post a photo of it one day when I am wearing it. The green is nice too. If it comes up in a sale some time, I might order it too.

ScottishMouse · 26/03/2024 18:55

I am more of a navy person too @sonjadog , but I probably don’t need another pinafore dress.

sonjadog · 27/03/2024 08:17

Here is the apron dress in action this morning:

That does look good @sonjadog . Love the top too.

Thanks! The top is from Lucy & Yak. I recommend their long sleeved tops, the quality is very good.

Stoic123 · 27/03/2024 08:48

I like that @sonjadog - it's interesting and attractive. You look like you are all set to pick some mushrooms, chop wood or make jam- so it is very Toast!

ScottishMouse · 27/03/2024 19:42

I wore my humbug seamless marl sweater from winter today as it was so cold here. Although it seemed like a fairly neutral colour, it hasn’t had much wear as it doesn’t seem to go with all that much that I have. I have only worn it with indigo Alix so far. What does anyone else wear theirs with?

whinsome · 28/03/2024 12:54

Ok - so 2 more parcels arrived this morning.

The spruce cord skirt and the auburn a-line dress. I actually like both of them, beautiful colours and lovely and soft, thick cord, but I'm not sure how much I'd wear them.

Whereas, I know I'd wear the side button denim dress (https://www.toa.st/products/side-button-denim-pinafore-dress-indigo), which I tried on in a shop and loved, to death.

All my sales purchases are going back and I've just ordered the denim pinafore.

A pinafore back and contrasting topstitching brings a 1970s inflection to our dress. Crafted from organic cotton denim. Available in Indigo.

Another one who loves that red striped top @sonjadog :) and great to see the apron dress on a real person. Wasn't sure how it would hang in real life. It looks lovely.

Countmeout · 28/03/2024 13:50

Who ordered the navy wrap jacket? I see Graham Street have it on on Instagram. Looks lovely.

@Countmeout I thought it looked great too , like the cardigan on the daughter person but it’s £465 !

ToastCosILoveIt · 28/03/2024 14:15

Hello all, been quiet for a while as very busy with work but so enjoy reading up on what you are all doing/purchasing/buying/wearing.

I made the sale late afternoon as I was away on holiday and missed the alerts. I got my much coveted grey patterned yoke Donegal sweater. I already have the orange one and love it so much, I knew the grey would be perfect to leave in the town where I work (live and work 250 miles apart) as part of my ‘carefully curated’ (to coin a Toast phrase) work/out of town wardrobe.

Views and help sought on the navy peacoat please. I bought it in the sale on a whim but pondering if I will wear it enough. It feels very much like a (Toast) jean and gabi coat to me, not quite sure if it has a place in my wardrobe as when I just tried it on with a Toast dress, it made me look huge (I am a 12). Also wondered if it is so thick that when you need it, you actually need a warm and full length coat, and then the warmer spring and autumn weather will be just to warm to wear it. I know a few of you have and love it. I think @faustina may have won it in one of the Toast competitions? If I had won it I would be keeping it, hands down, but wondering if it justifies the £230 price tag or I should send it back?

In other news, I bought the tie shoulder floral print dress before the sale: colour washes me out (I am pale) and it is definitely a slim fit as one of the reviews says, so that is going back. Ditto the A-line cotton slate twill dress which is too low at the front and too a-line below the waist. It might look good with a tee under it but I wanted it to wear alone. I also bought the brick coloured Lina Fracap sandals but as I have the olive version already, plus the tan ola Fracap (which I love but which seem to have been discontinued), I am sending them back. I think they are stiffer than the olive version which I adore.

Many thanks for any thoughts on the peacoat.

faustina · 28/03/2024 14:52

@ToastCosILoveIt I was very tempted by the graphic yoke jumper in the sale but couldn't bring myself to buy something quite so warm this late in the season. Anyway - it wasn't me who won the peacoat (more's the pity) but I was desperate for one and hunted one down - took months - at the beginning of last year. I can confirm that (for me) it's exactly as you say - very thick and warm and really for days when you want something long. I don't think I've worn it at all yet!

ToastCosILoveIt · 28/03/2024 15:01

@faustina , thank you, I don’t know if that is what I didn’t want to hear or did but it does push me towards sending it back.

The graphic yoke Donegal is beautiful, an investment piece and one i hope i might continue wearing into spring when I dispense with a coat but still need something warm when travelling between two places.

Stoic123 · 28/03/2024 15:11

@Countmeout - that was me and it arrived today.

It is fabulous looking but I need to try on with a few thicker jumpers. Sized down on Toast recommendation but not sure if I want it a little bigger (should have got two sizes - there weren't enough reviews to suss out sizing). If I do send it back, I'll def reorder the larger size in the next sale.

Stoic123 · 28/03/2024 15:56

Did a little trying on session and the wrap jacket is a keeper- bar a final quality inspection. It's good for all but my thickest arran jumper. One to size down in if comparatively narrow shouldered.

@Countmeout - you were right to be surprised that there hasn't been more interest- fabulous quality. The inside pocket (good for phone/keys/card holder) was a nice surprise.

Countmeout · 28/03/2024 16:26

@OftenOrange the cardigan was beautiful. I didn’t look at the price . That’s a bit spendy.

i had the Peacoat in the previous sale @ToastCosILoveIt and returned it. I felt the swingy back made me look too big and the material wasn’t that nice I thought.

@stoic so glad you’re pleased with it. I think I might order it next time if available. What did you do sizing wise, is that your normal ‘normal’ Toast size?

OP posts:
Stoic123 · 28/03/2024 16:30

@Countmeout - I was previously a medium and now supposed to be a large (HS Size 14). I don't like things too fitted. I ordered the medium based on Toast recommendation and it is right. I reckon size down from 'Size Chart' unless you are broad shouldered.

Countmeout · 28/03/2024 16:36

Thanks @Stoic123 . That’s helpful.

I can’t wait for it to arrive! It’s been despatched but will be mid next week before it gets here.
