Thanks @Qweesh and @Dee1224 for your help with my toast wishlist, I ended up making a trip to the islington store yesterday and tried both jumper and shoes - thankfully the jumper was not for me, although that was more due to fit than colouring ( I'm also pale with dark hair @Dee1224 but the greens weren't draining ) The sleeves were just too huge which made the overall look a bit bulky. Absolutely love the shoes though, hopefully they'll be comfy over long distances.

ScottishMouse · 08/03/2024 14:26

Don’t put it in a pile @Countmeout, what could that even mean?? How very odd.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 08/03/2024 14:30

Just caught up with yesterday's live. I thought the dark olive striped dress looked very nice, much better than on the product pages, and more like your photo @Countmeout . I promised myself I wouldn't buy any more dresses but as it's very different to anything I've got I am very tempted.

I was surprised they didn't mention the chunky tank also comes in a turquoise, and that is also on my wish list.

I found some of the clothes combinations a bit odd, especially with the gingham skirt.

I did like the poplin jacket, although it seems more of a shirt weight, but I don't think it would work for me.

Chunky Italian-spun cotton yarn lends texture to our knitted tank. Shaped with a ribbed round neck. Available in Turquoise.

@LightandBreezy Hurrah for new shoes!! My smaller size came today and they are deffo keepers. Out of interest did you go for your usual size? Black or Tan?

LightandBreezy · 08/03/2024 15:07

@Qweesh Hurrah indeed! I feel like they're quite an elegant shoe ( for me anyway, I like clompy boots and chunky loafers generally. ) I went for my normal size in the black, because I really liked the slight texture to the leather that that colourway had.

Stoic123 · 08/03/2024 15:12

Watched the Toast Live - aren't the Stix presenters lovely? Liked the poplin jacket and Olive Dress (on the live and on @Countmeout) also the drawstring Raft skirt. None of them will suit me though.

Not much of the new collection will suit me and the few items that would are similar to things I already own. Looks like a cheap season for me.

However, like @Theteapotsbrokenspout, I am very pleased with the Garden Bloom bandana. Even nicer than expected..

I might also get the new charcoal version of the neat sweater as they are wardrobe stalwarts. I bought the Olive version back in Jan but it looked a different colour from the online photos (better for me). Toast has now listed a 'Dark Olive' separately which matches the one I got - so they must have had complaints from some people.

Qweesh · 08/03/2024 15:19

@LightandBreezy they are very chic aren’t they. I added the black to my wishlist yesterday because until I went for a close up nosey at the images I didn’t realise they were textured.

@Stoic123 its funny isn’t it, I felt like that last season, I bought very little and was quite disappointed with the offerings. However this season is a winner having so far bought 7 items from the new drop. 🙈

Stoic123 · 08/03/2024 16:28

@Qweesh - I'm slightly relieved as my bank account could do with a little rest from Toast. I do have a couple of AW 2023 items on my wishlist that I'll try if they appear in a sale.

FitzLea · 08/03/2024 19:25

Hi @LightandBreezy - I love those cotton socks too, what kind of red are they IRL? I have a blue pair from last year and I wore them loads in spring and autumn.

I wanted to thank everyone for the poplin advice from a while back. I decided to get the stripe poplin dress and it’s beautiful. I did go for the bigger of the two sizes I usually go for, just in case it does shrink.

Dee1224 · 08/03/2024 19:47

Btw: Thanks to those who encouraged me to keep my sale circus tam! It’s been getting a lot of wear over the last few days since the weather got colder, and I really like it.

LightandBreezy · 08/03/2024 21:49

@FitzLea They are speckles of 3 or 4 different colours and overall look rusty orange red, so bits of mustard, brick and a true red but blended subtly. It highlights the knit and I love them!

MiracleToast · 08/03/2024 23:32

Has anyone tried the chore jacket? I have become enamoured with it

OftenOrange · 09/03/2024 09:07

Does anyone recognise these shoes.? Love the whole look , neat utility jacket etc
Otherwise I’m just not getting it from the collection whereas last season was the best !
Editing to say I found them ; Paraboot Yosemite in Olive ,as I have Fracap Olive boots and Olive Laceup shoes it’s an Olive too far !

Stoic123 · 09/03/2024 11:01

@OftenOrange - clearly drawn to Olive 😂.

I keep on dipping back in to check if my love for this season will grow as some seasons have been slow burners (second drops can be less themed so work for me better). Not happening this time.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 09/03/2024 11:09

I've tried the two stripe pieces together and I can't get over the pyjama vibe. It's also made me doubt them altogether.
I tried them with the navy cotton tank and then the top on its own with my loden gabis, which looked more like a work uniform.
Now I also think my hips look very wide in the shirt.
On a plus note DH liked them.

@Theteapotsbrokenspout - I like the trousers but I'm less keen on the shirt.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 09/03/2024 11:39

I think I agree with you @Stoic123 , but I’m wondering if it’s the way I’ve styled it. I loved the shirt when it first arrived and I think I tried it with wider trousers and it looked better.
Perhaps @AvaGardens can give me hints how they’re styling it.

Countmeout · 09/03/2024 12:59

Thanks for sharing photos @Theteapotsbrokenspout . I really like the shirt with the Gabis. The trousers are longer than I expected . I’d probably want them a couple of inches shorter. Might it look better with a lighter colour underneath? On the other hand if you were wearing it with the Gabis as a jacket you’d maybe want a dark colour under to tie the Gabis together . Not sure if just the shirt and trousers give that pyjama vibe.

OP posts:
Theteapotsbrokenspout · 09/03/2024 13:39

@Countmeout the trousers are longer than I wanted but I think I can live with that. I was struggling a bit with styling as most of my summer clothes are still packed away.
Funny how we all perceive things differently, I thought the shirt with the gabis gave off an auxiliary nurse vibe.

I think I like the two pieces together if the shirt is worn as a jacket. I hadn’t thought of wearing a lighter top, I might try that later.

FitzLea · 09/03/2024 14:32

That sounds perfect @LightandBreezy, thanks! Going to add them into my next basket.

AvaGardens · 09/03/2024 17:28

@Theteapotsbrokenspout I rarely wear trousers but when the shirt arrived I was wearing the loden Gabi's!
I thought it looked good.
As @Countmeout said, I think it needs a contrast, I will wear it with a darker colour to anchor it, as you've done with the navy tank too.
Mainly I wear skirts and dresses so I'll wear the shirt buttoned and as a jacket.
I tried, and loved it, with the crinkle olive skirt, it looked summery, nostalgic and pretty and also with the artichoke garment dyed denim skirt.. please excuse dark pic, creases etc (recent move) seen here https://www.toa.st/products/garment-dyed-denim-skirt-artichoke

I have this skirt to wear it with too, but still packed away.. https://www.toa.st/products/pleated-patch-pocket-cotton-skirt-rye
I will also wear it over sleeveless linen dresses from past Toast seasons.
🙂

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 09/03/2024 20:14

Thank you for that @AvaGardens I wear a lot more trousers than skirts but I’m sure I’ve got summer things packed away that will work with the shirt.
I shall keep experimenting until I find a look I am comfortable with.
I really want to keep the shirt because I have so much trouble with Toast shirts gaping and this one is a much better fit.

Dee1224 · 10/03/2024 13:05

Just had a look at the new maker’s stuff on the Toast site. I like the furniture - but not keen on the rest of it.
