That’s pretty shocking @Countmeout - thanks for the heads up!

Things to do with 14 year old:
Japan Centre: The one just off Leicester Square, followed by a visit to the really cool Japanese restaurant that’s attached, (the one with the separate entrance on the street, not the one in the shop itself!) This can be combined with a trip to Chinatown round the corner and to the excellent Korean supermarkets on Charing Cross Road just by Chinatown.
Covent Garden: Shops and market area. They often have street performers too.
The British Museum - still free.
The V&A - still free and depending on whether your DN likes that sort of thing.
On Friday - Sunday: Borough Market. Can be combined with a visit to Southwark Cathedral and a walk past the Golden Hinde along the Thames to the Globe Theatre and the Tate Modern, (the Tate is also free to go in).
Further afield: Greenwich - it’s fun to get the boat along the Thames from near London Bridge all the way to Greenwich. Once there, Greenwich market is fun to visit at the weekend. The Mayflower has also reopened. There is also Greenwich park, the Maritime Museum and the Observatory.
For shopping with teens, you can’t beat Oxford Street/Regent Street for Primark, H&M, Uniqlo, etc.
Visiting Harrods is an experience that everyone should have at least once, imo. The Food Hall is still lovely, (although I don’t like the shop itself as much as I used to before it changed hands.)
The IMAX at Waterloo is a spectacular cinematic experience!
Let me know if you want any other suggestions.
Re: Toast - the King’s Road one is small, but they are quite friendly in there. Everyone says the Notting Hill one is the best for size and stock, but I haven’t been. At the weekend, a trip there could be combined with a visit to Portabello Road.
