@LightandBreezy me too! I really like the look of those pumps but why oh why no photo of what they look like on feet?! It's like back in the Covid days when all the clothes were photographed without models.

I'm not really near a Toast, so it's a faff to order and return just to see what something looks like.

Qweesh · 07/03/2024 12:49

@LightandBreezy @AmethystMoonShine here you go.

Well done @Qweesh ,
They'd not caught my eye before.
Sizing - big? Wide?
Comfort - thin soul & cardboard or cushion of air?

AmethystMoonShine · 07/03/2024 13:11

Ohhh thank you @Qweesh ....drat! I like those Grin

TosstTastic · 07/03/2024 13:11

Question to @ScottishMouse and anyone else with a poncho.

Have they worked? I loved how it looked on in the mirror but unlike @Qweesh I'm not a full time model. 😂
I also thought about when I'd wear it - out for dinner, chilly restaurant but not sure a block of wool is the best view for my companion.
Working at home, but would I want something cosier?
When are they working for you?

ScottishMouse · 07/03/2024 13:26

Hmmm, @TosstTastic , I am still kind of undecided about the poncho. I wore it lots around the house - both wfh and in the evening over pjs - when the weather was colder, but I’ve not worn it much in the last few weeks. I never got it to look ok with a coat, so it has been an at home only item so far. I do think it will work instead of a cardi once a jacket isn’t needed, but I’m not sure how much if the year is warm enough for no jacket but cold enough for something wool. So, the conclusion is that while I love it, it may be expensive homeware for me.

ScottishMouse · 07/03/2024 13:30

I have to give up on the Lydia jumpsuit. It is just not flattering on me and the two times I have put it on to wear out, I have taken it off again as I feel a bit self-conscious in it. I really thought I would keep it, but it has been packed up to go back. Still swithering over the red gingham trousers for much the same reason (maybe more flattering on me, but oh so pj-like).

ScottishMouse · 07/03/2024 13:30

The red gingham trousers look good with the poncho though!

🤣 @TosstTastic I saw them styled with a pair of jeans I bought and have been stalking the Toast site for weeks waiting patiently for them to arrive.

Toast recommended a 40 in these, but as I want to be able to wear them without the ankle strap I need the 39. (Interestingly, I ordered the SM sandals in 39 and they were too small, so I have ordered and kept, a 40 in those). I don’t have wide feet but wanted a bit more space for hot feet in the sandals so I would say they were true to size.

Both pumps and sandals are fairly sturdy with a good chunky sole but there’s no cushioning. They are incredibly well made and will last.

Qweesh · 07/03/2024 13:38

@AmethystMoonShine they’re pretty aren’t they? Sorry 🤣

LightandBreezy · 07/03/2024 13:46

@Qweesh thank you so much for the pictures, damn, I'm going to have to get them! They are really lovely and should be versatile.

Dee1224 · 07/03/2024 14:35

@LightandBreezy - I saw that jumper irl at the Kindred event. It is absolutely beautiful- thick, (but not too thick), and very soft. The colour is quite a bright mid green, (but not pea green, which I dislike).

I can imagine it looking wonderful on someone with red, blonde or light brown hair. I am not sure if the colour would have suited me, (dark brown hair and pale-ish skin).

However, I liked it very much indeed. Unfortunately, as there wasn’t a cat in hell’s chance that I would EVER spend that much on a jumper, (even in the unlikely event that it went to 50% off in a sale), I decided not to torment myself by trying it on.

MrsRadichio · 07/03/2024 15:01

@TosstTastic I really like those trousers, which ones are they?

I'm Toasting again today with a cobalt rolled edge top and these indigo trousers. Feel too cold though!

I did laugh to myself about that waistcoat review wehere they are basically thinking of changing it into a completely different garment - other shops are available!

I do quite fancy the waistcoat myself though one to try in the sales.

@LightandBreezy there is likely to be a sale in March (based on last year) but probably full of things that have already been on sale and a smattering of new to sale items. The next big sale is the summer sale - not sure if that is usually in June or July.

The postman arrived just in time for me to open the parcel before friends arrived for lunch. I thought oh and hmm and maybe not about the dress. After they left I had a try on. Of course it feels just right to pull on to go to the shops/schoolrun/out casually . It was slightly more A line than I expected after @AvaGardens (was it you) described it. I bought small and I don’t think I’d want it bigger. I don’t do oversized. I also have this cursed half stone still to lose. It’s not too long ( I’ve haven’t watched the styling conversations yet) I’m 5’4. If you’re taller there’s a 2 inch hem on it. Annoyingly I think it might look fantastic with the waistcoat we all want to alter. I wouldn’t ever wear it buttoned up .

I also ordered the chalk cotton half sleeve lounge T. I got this in large as I’d bought a jersey piece earlier in the year and found it small. I wanted it to wear under the crinkle pinafore as the boat neck T doesn’t work with it. This does and the half sleeve is good for spring. I think I’ll keep it despite it being rather thin and had a very smooth feel for cotton but it works with the pinafore. I love this pinafore do comfortable.

@MrsRadichio It's the check cotton wool pull on trousers from the last winter sale, similar shape to your indigo cotton twill ones. (Might have just put those on the wish list.

Interesting about the poncho @ScottishMouse if it never leaves the house it could be the best value, worn daily three months of the year. perhaps we all need to spend more on house clothes less on the wedding dress type fleeting moments.

AvaGardens · 07/03/2024 15:44

Oh it looks so much better on you @Countmeout 😍
I think I need to size up then, I obviously chose the wrong size in denial and hopefully it will look like yours, mine was very straight.
Although I did go by Toast recommended size 🤔
I absolutely loved the fabric and colour.
I'm off to reorder.

ScottishMouse · 07/03/2024 15:57

The green dress looks so great on you @Countmeout. I also love the crinkle pinafore, I have that one too. Is the new half sleeve jersey top the same as the Emma ones, a-line in shape, or is it straighter? I love the half sleeve on the Emma, but hate the a-line shape on me.

ScottishMouse · 07/03/2024 15:59

That’s true @TosstTastic , even if it just stayed in the house it has got plenty of wear so far.

AvaGardens · 07/03/2024 16:00

@TosstTastic totally agree re the point focusing on day dressing.
I've been concentrating on transitioning my wardrobe to those items, I now feel much more 'me' and don't worry about saving things for best, I wear my lovely things every day and cost per wear is much better value.

faustina · 07/03/2024 16:00

@Countmeout - that dress looks lovely on you! I watched the first ten minutes of the live today and one of the presenters was wearing it - oddly she is 5'9 and it looks the same length as it does on you! (I think it looks better on you though). You have given me major crinkle pinafore envy too, so am off to have a look at it

Snowyowl78 · 07/03/2024 16:03

@ScottishMouse which Lydia jumpsuit is that?
I just got one in a M from Vinted and it’s way too long in the body for me! I have the black v neck one and it’s my favourite but it seems like the normal Lydia’s are really long- I can’t put my hands in the pockets properly and the crotch is really low along with the length. Strange really, as I have the v neck in a M and also the Lydia dress in a large which fits!

ScottishMouse · 07/03/2024 16:09

@Snowyowl78 it’s the original one, not the vneck one. It’s a bit long in the body and so the backside looks saggy and unflattering. I was thinking I could take it in at the shoulder to lift it a little, but I realised the armholes would be too tight to fit anything underneath. I had to take a L even though I have the vneck dress in a M.

Snowyowl78 · 07/03/2024 16:11

@faustina after worrying about le Bon Shoppe Arc pants being too small I think they’re actually a bit big! I tried them in the denim. Bit annoying because returns are not free and also I can’t find the smaller size anywhere except for in a ‘long’ which I definitely don’t need. I find them full length even though it says they are cropped!

Snowyowl78 · 07/03/2024 16:14

@ScottishMouse i think I might be on the old sizing with the one i just got as it’s bigger than my v neck one, and far too long in the body. Is like it’s meant for someone at least 5’8

sorry yours didn’t work for you either. I’d recommend the black v neck one though. It’s shorter in the body.
