That shirt is lovely.

@Dee1224 what has been wrong with the eBay purchases? not as described or just not suiting? I usually buy a lot from eBay but recently haven't seen anything I like.

I love the print of the sea kelp skirt and dress.

I am fully in Toast today (including a couple of eBay purchses 🙂). Wearing an assymetric blue dress with tall collar from a few years back, floral gilet (gerkin?) and a tencel striped top underneath for warmth.

ScottishMouse · 05/03/2024 11:07

Many layers of Toast here today. I am determined it is time to put away my giant winter coat. Slate cotton/linen pinafore with an old cashmere/cotton black & white gingham shirt under, the light grey alpaca buttonless cardigan with the cable sleeve from a couple of years ago, and topped off with the caramel coloured fine stripe shirt with pockets (same as the new indigo one) from a couple of years ago worn as a light jacket.
Loving seeing and feeling a hint of spring.

lordloveadog · 05/03/2024 11:12

@AvaGardens that linen not-actually-boxy shirt sounds really nice. How's the fit on the shoulders? I'm wide across the beam so neater fit tops don't work on me. Thanks!

and @sonjadog do you have any tips for where to order good woollies in Scandinavia? Also good etsy sites? i sometimes look but never take the plunge. takk!

Dee1224 · 05/03/2024 11:20

Hi @MrsRadichio - my big recent mistake was a top that was far too expensive for what it is and just not at all nice. It was one of those times when I made a last minute panic bid without thinking. Totally not the seller’s fault - all me😹There’s no way I am ever going to wear it and I couldn’t sell it for what I paid, (overpriced😿).

I also bought a tunic top that’s almost identical to one I already have- to be fair, I quite like it, but did NOT need two!

I love my too-small stripy cotton top, (seller missized it, but I can just make it work), so that’s probably my favourite Toast eBay purchase.

My problem is that, having made a successful few purchases, I can then get carried away, so I am calling a temporary halt after realising just how much I have spent on eBay Toast purchases over the last year!

I am loving my green zigzag toast socks with my kelp dress today. It’s a shame I have nowhere to go😿

Qweesh · 05/03/2024 11:48

@Alpacasoft I think it was you who was querying the sizing of the Steve Mono? Size Up!! I ordered a 39 as per chat and I need a 40; my toes are right to the very end. They also feel quite snug so perhaps not suitable for wide feet.

Qweesh · 05/03/2024 11:58

@Dee1224 I do this with eBay and Vinted as well. I find some good stuff and get carried away, the amount I’ve had to resell is ridiculous!

I’m at the point now where if I don’t love it enough to pay full price I just don’t buy it. I have made many sale mistakes too. The only times sales have been a success for me have been things I’d missed the first time around, before I started shopping at Toast.

faustina · 05/03/2024 12:35

That embroidered shirt is beautiful and quite possibly not overpriced if hand embroidered, but still very very £££

@Dee1224 - it is really annoying when things go wrong on Ebay/Vinted. I'm having a break from Vinted after a spectacular disaster which involved me ordering a sweatshirt and then having a small combination microwave/oven delivered in its place (which was someone else's Ebay (not vinted!) purchase). The hoops I had to jump over to resolve it took way too much time, and I never did see the sweatshirt though it was eventually refunded. At least you ordered Toast and got Toast!

@Sooverthemill - I really like their balloon trousers too, but didn't order because they were elasticated at the ankle so didn't feel they'd be adjustable enough for my short legs - their socks are great though -I have a pair of the cloud in a bright coral colour. Where did you manage to find the khaki? I think that might be my next buy. I test wore my arc pants yesterday all day and was very pleased to see they didn't stretch out at all which was why 'I had to say a sad goodbye to the double faced indigo Alixes (they have a lovely new home now though). I have missed seeing your daily outfits on WAYWT - hope things are ok with you - please do show me the khaki pair when they arrive

OftenOrange · 05/03/2024 12:49

@Theteapotsbrokenspout it’s dry clean only , not surprising considering the embroidery but for a pale top totally impractical.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 05/03/2024 13:11

As much as I love that shirt I won’t be buying it. It is just too impractical and too many ££££.

Sooverthemill · 05/03/2024 13:28

@faustina i got them from https://teaandkate.co.uk/ where I nearly always get le bon shoppe. I’m 5’1 and find the balloon pants are fine. Thanks for asking how I am. I’ve suffered a shoulder injury a month ago and have been in a lot of pain and on very high pain meds. Basically in joggers/balloon pants and cardigans every day since. Still waiting for urgent physio.

this is a really old photo of me with balloon jeans on when I had covid!!!

AvaGardens · 05/03/2024 14:58

@lordloveadog Hi, it is neat across the shoulders, a proper shoulder seam, not dropped, or relaxed.
I'm quite small shouldered and dropped seams don't suit me.
I'm a 38'' chest though, and it does flare a little thanks to the pleated back, which comes down low.
I've attached pics.. hopefully 😅
The shoulder seam on one side looks relaxed, but that's just the hanger.

faustina · 05/03/2024 15:07

@Sooverthemill - ouch! Hope you heal soon. The balloon pants look good in that pic! Good luck with the physio

lordloveadog · 05/03/2024 15:09

Thank you @AvaGardens, much appreciated!

Sorry to hear about injury and wait time @Sooverthemill, that's awful.

Also several people's digressive feet. I also suffer with my feet, and from the feeling that if I talk about it I sound like a Wodehouse butler. Strictly trainers with space for inserts here.

I'm on a self imposed buying ban but this top is seriously swaying me...!

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 05/03/2024 15:42

I've given in and ordered that shirt @AvaGardens it looks so nice, and also the North Sea bandana, which I've been thinking about for ages.

AvaGardens · 05/03/2024 16:04

@Theteapotsbrokenspout @Brackenfield It is lovely, very versatile, as a shirt and jacket this spring and summer over dresses and skirts.
The colour is pretty too.

Dee1224 · 05/03/2024 16:53

With you on trainers @lordloveadog !

@faustina - microwave instead of sweatshirt 🙀Can you see the funny side yet?

I want to order the Troentorp clog sandals, but I just know they will be as wide as last year’s in tan so must resist😿

Stoic123 · 05/03/2024 18:20

@Sooverthemill - Thanks for this. I'm going to be in Felixstowe next week to see family. Will pop in to the shop. Looks interesting.

Stoic123 · 05/03/2024 18:22

@Sooverthemill - and hope your shoulder gets sorted soon!

sonjadog · 05/03/2024 18:51

@lordloveadog I generally buy knitwear through a local selling site where people advertise single items they have knitted themselves, but a few that might be of interest are:

https://no.daleofnorway.com/dame/genser/?page=3

https://www.epla.no/handlaget/kategorier/dameklaer-og-sko/overdeler/gensere-og-topper/

I also recommend checking out Faroe Island knits. They can be really nice. Sirri is a good make.

Stoic123 · 05/03/2024 19:10

@Theteapotsbrokenspout - I've just gone for the North Sea bandana tonight having also been thinking about it loads.

Thought about how I'd feel if it sold out and realised I'd be really annoyed.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 05/03/2024 19:42

I was hoping there would be a nice green, but, like you @Stoic123 I realised I would be disappointed if I missed the blue.

sonjadog · 05/03/2024 20:07

@faustina I didn't see that. That's great! Also, what an excellent sweater design!

lordloveadog · 06/03/2024 07:21

Thanks @sonjadog ! Will look at those
