Thanks for the info @ScottishMouse disappointing that the barrel leg green trousers are long, they’re definitely on my wish list, but I’m only 5’ 4”.

I don’t like the colour of either of the two new Gabis, so at least my credit card is safe there.

faustina · 29/02/2024 20:00

@sonjadog - which country are you in? Have you thought of trying Vestiaire Collective? You might have some luck there

ScottishMouse · 29/02/2024 20:11

@Theteapotsbrokenspout I am only 5’2” so they might work on you.
There were a few very tall people at the event saying how they hate that the trousers are always too short and Evie said they are starting to make longer lengths based on feedback. Sad for us shorties.

I was disappointed there was no discount. I got an order in the post today and would have repurchsed the flower mountain trainers at a discounted price and returned the ordered ones. At full price they are really pricey, but I really like them and they fit me well, which almost never happens with trainers as I have odd feet. Will have to sleep on it.

Countmeout · 29/02/2024 20:22

What things did they put together unexpectedly @ScottishMouse . I’m always looking for ideas.

Rain here too @faustina , an odd sunny day. I just want to be in summer clothes so much. I put my slate Alix on the other day with a long sleeve t shirt and a cashmere mix sweater. Had the padded coat on top admittedly but I had forgotten how much I love linen /cotten Alix. The woollen ones aren’t just the same.

Honestly @Countmeout i don't remember that many of the outfits, I just wasn’t that taken with much of the new collection. They paired the new green stripe tunic dress with the green canvas cotton a-line coat from the last drop, which I thought looked a bit odd together. And the green stripe linen sleeveless dress over a pair of blue workwear trousers 🤷‍♀️

Dee1224 · 29/02/2024 20:43

Sounds similar to what they did in London @ScottishMouse.

I am not a fan of the unbuttoned sleeveless dress over huge sleeved blouse and huge trousers styling, myself. Any one of the items would have been better on its own, imo.

I did like the look of the navy knitted waistcoat over a baggy striped shirt.

I don’t like lime green/very bright green - it makes me look sickly due to my complexion, and I am not keen on florals, so much of the new drop is safe from my clutches, (which is just as well for my credit card!)

Countmeout · 29/02/2024 20:48

She paired a dress and trousers in that video today. Is anyone old enough to remember doing that years and years ago?

ScottishMouse · 29/02/2024 20:50

Same @Dee1224 , I don’t like green very much on me. There was a whole section of the shop that just looked very colourful, and I am not a huge fan of colour. I prefer neutrals with the odd splash of colour. I also don’t care much for florals or patterns beyond a stripe or a check.
Just as well really, as I have bought a bit too much lately (gingham check trousers, Lydia jumpsuit, and now perhaps the flower mountain trainers too).

Dee1224 · 29/02/2024 20:52

@Countmeout - you’ve nailed it - that big trousers with a pinafore dress and shirt/jumper underneath look is from the 70s! I knew there was a reason I was - secretly - appalled by it. I was obviously having a subconscious flashback to my early childhood memories!

ScottishMouse · 29/02/2024 20:53

Ha ha! Yes!! I knew I had seen that dress over trousers look before. I think you need to be very tall and willowy to carry off so many layers. I am far from either tall or willowy so won’t be trying it.

Dee1224 · 29/02/2024 20:56

Those flower trainers are lovely @ScottishMouse I am wondering if they would support my - still - Plantar Fasciitis affected right foot, (it came on with a vengeance when I was laid up for weeks with Covid 18 months ago and has never completely gone 😿). I have special insoles for my trainers, but they don’t completely stop it flaring back up.

ScottishMouse · 29/02/2024 20:58

@Dee1224 not sure what your trainer requirements are for your plantar fasciitis, but they are very comfy, and quite wide. I tried a 5 and 6, I am usually a 5.5 and often wear a 6 in trainers, but the 5 is big enough.
I have self-diagnosed a Morton’s neuroma, so need comfy and wide footwear to give my foot plenty of space.

Dee1224 · 29/02/2024 21:00

I’m with you there, @ScottishMouse😹 - but it’s not a look I like anyway, so I don’t feel left out.

Tbh, with my cynical hat on, Toast’s current passion for layering very expensive pieces that could/should be worn separately strikes me as a bit of a marketing ploy! (I am - sort of - joking😹)

ScottishMouse · 29/02/2024 21:05

This is a good point @Dee1224 . One of the assistants mentioned that a customer today had bought the Franca cabin check dress and the navy a-line pinafore one they have been styling in a waistcoat way to wear over the top.

Dee1224 · 29/02/2024 21:06

Ah, thanks for that @ScottishMouse - that’s very helpful. I have relatively narrow feet, so they would probably be too wide. I will try them though, if I see them in store.

My PF responds well/disappears if I wear heels, so the podiatrist thinks it’s more of a stretching issue now. Sadly, I struggle with heels, so daily footwear choices are an exciting balance between being pain free on my right heel and suffering from discomfort on the balls of my feet 🙀

I highly recommend Hokka slides for in the house, even though they are stupendously ugly they are great for my poorly foot. (I am very sad, though, that I can no longer wear my lovely slippers!)

Dee1224 · 29/02/2024 21:08

Sorry for the poorly foot digression, everyone.

I am going to order the Troentorp new season sandals to see how they fit.

I am also trying to wear in my Kitty Clogs that I bought from Toast last year.

Dee1224 · 29/02/2024 21:08

🤦‍♀️ that was about feet too…

Stoic123 · 29/02/2024 22:02

@Dee1224 & @ScottishMouse - thanks for intel from events.

I like a lot of things in the new drop but most of the colours don't really suit me. Not sure if I'm glad or sad about that.

I'm doing a final declutter / cull of my wardrobe (started last March) and will then be just left with things I love. Don't want to start cluttering up my wardobe with 'also-rans' again. Maybe this is not my season (but I loved the browns which some of you sat out - so maybe my turn to sit).

ScottishMouse · 01/03/2024 09:35

Flower mountain trainers are packed up to return ☹️ Just too pricey, and they don’t go with enough of my wardrobe to justify them. I’ll look out for them in a sale though.

Alpacasoft · 01/03/2024 10:02

@Stoic123
I agree with the colours, too faded a palette for me but I wasn't keen on the brown either.

Not sure what season I am but navy, white, chambray blue, denim, hot pink, grey, clean not muddy caramel all suit me whereas pastels don't and yellow makes me look ill.

There are a couple of things I like -the chambray pintuck dress , which I already have and the short sleeve blue shirt.
Could anyone advise me regarding the Steve Mono pumps?
How does SM come up size wise?

FitzLea · 01/03/2024 10:23

They are pricey aren’t they @ScottishMouse. I must admit mine arrived after the pre-order and as soon as I put them on I knew I’d have to keep them. And my perfect colour palette. I did have sell a few items (including my Novesta trainers) to justify keeping them. Like you, I’m not sure the style will go with much I have but they are just so comfortable. Really hope they come up in a sale at some point 🤞

mizu · 01/03/2024 10:24

@ScottishMouse shame about the flower mountain trainers. They are indeed too pricey for me too but I keep looking at them 😁

Alpacasoft · 01/03/2024 10:24

Just saw the layering chat.
I think you need to be of a certain age to recall this but it reminds me of the house coats that my DM and GM wore, sleeveless buttoned up and between upper thigh and knee, designed to keep your clothes clean when doing housework or gardening.
They would be whipped off if visitors arrived!
Im very fond them but not a look I would be going for out of the house!

MiracleToast · 01/03/2024 10:27

Hi @Dee1224 where did you find the kindred video about growing veg? I can’t seem to find it, have I got my wires crossed?

MrsRadichio · 01/03/2024 10:36

@ScottishMouse i saw some flower mountain trainers in the uniform research sale. V limited sizes though.

@Dee1224 have you looked at exercises for PF? I can suffer but not too badly and find doing heel lifts clears the pain.

@Countmeout I thought it was funny the way she was wearing the dress over trousers in the live video. As the dress was so long you couldn’t even see the trousers.

I admit to being partial to the look at I used to wear dresses over trousers in the 90s. Not sure I would do it again though.
