I also happen to think that Caroline Hirons isn't quite on brand for Liberty, but I suppose it's easy to avoid. I really don't want her samples in my last box.

One brand that's really good for makeup is Surrat. Their single eyeshadows are amazing quality. I buy them as refill, don't bother with their palettes, because I don't need a palette and they come perfectly packaged as single.

They are very good for foundation if your skin is not too pink.

Thanks for that - I was considering trying a foundation but I’m, surprisingly, a lot more on the pink side than I look…if you know what I mean!

Another76543 · 21/02/2024 20:05

I think I’ll hang on until the next box and see what it’s like. I really don’t want any retinols/liquid exfoliants/hair care for curly and dry hair/unisex perfume!

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 21/02/2024 20:06

I know what you mean. That's why I like Shiseido and Suqqu, because they lean more yellow.

As far as I know Lancome is good for more pink-ish skin.

Everything seems to have retinol in it atm, even supermarket brands. I’ve been using La Roche Niacinamide serum for a while and love it but saw today they’ve discontinued it and replaced it with the same product but containing retinol. I already use a lovely retinal serum that I feel in control of, and I know that doubling up is a very bad idea.

Its starting to remind me of the radium craze of the 1930’s. I dread to think what will happen to the skin of all the young girls who must be using multiples of this stuff because of social media.

QueefofSheena · 21/02/2024 20:15

Which Floris one is it @OooScotland? I’ve just got one of their discovery sets as a gift

OooScotland · 21/02/2024 20:21

@QueefofSheena Tuberose in Silk. Awful name, heavenly perfume. I collect all the tuberose scents I can get my hands on, but I know its not for everyone!

DH absolutely hates all my tuberose perfumes 😎 if it were up to him I’d still be wearing CK1.

Next time I am in London I must pop in and try it. I currently use Armani. Thank you. I plan on keeping my subscription for a while to see what happens. I would really like a new bottle of Le Labo Tonka 25.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 21/02/2024 20:34

I have a bottle of Fracas I bought in the Nineties. Not opened, still in its box. it used to be my favourite tuberose, and then I suddenly went off it. Tuberose can be a challenge.

Male sure you try both, the cream and the liquid one.

Love Fracas, but can’t get it to last on my skin at all, but a beautiful scent.

I was surprised to find they’ve started to stock Trinny London (although it’s in store only, not online). I didn’t think that was very on brand either. But it seems they’re leaning towards popular influencer brands for women aged 40+

Nineties Fracas 😳 - You’re not thinking of selling it by any chance are you?

I’m 53 and think of Trinny London as a pretty cheap looking ‘teenage’ brand strangely aimed at older women.

No. Not quite ready yet. I know I won't wear it, but it's safe in its little box.

@listsandbudgets that's really impressive. If your DD hasn't already found this YouTube channel, she might find Lab Muffin Beauty Science interesting.
A really lovely (Australian?) young lady some science background into skincare.

PomsRun · 21/02/2024 21:26

I’m really not interested in Triinny, CH influencer products.
I shop in Liberty for luxury, niche, kits, gifts, some of the home wear/scarfs.

I hope they don’t start this influencer nonsense.

Ducksinthebath · 21/02/2024 21:29

forcedfun · 21/02/2024 19:05

Really? Quite pathetic to not be able to cope with people expressing opinions about your products! (And bizarre,.surely all.the free feedback is.handy!)

She sounds very thin skinned. Must be all the direct acids…

Ba-dum tish

I’m here all week folks. Try the fish.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 21/02/2024 21:31

Not just luxury. Understated luxury. Niche luxury.

Otherwise there is always Selfridges.

BookShark · 21/02/2024 22:22

OooScotland · 21/02/2024 17:10

I really want the LbTy Rosinda from the last box but its too expensive. I’m going to go for my fabourite Floris one instead (sadly not one stocked by Liberty) About half the price and just as beautiful.

I’ve done beauty boxes before and hadn’t realised, there seemed to be something missing from the Liberty ones, tissue paper! Birchbox, Douglas and Glossybox were all full of it.

@OooScotland would you like my sample from the last beauty box? I haven't tried it but I generally prefer musky perfumes to floral so suspect I'd be using it rather than loving it
PM me your address if so - the postage will be tiny on a small sample so you're welcome to it if it means it will be appreciated!

listsandbudgets · 21/02/2024 23:14

@branster thank you I will tell her. it will make a pleasant change from whatever ghastly chemistry equations she's been battling with this evening

TreesinthePark · 22/02/2024 10:25

I think for new or non-beauty drop members it's a really good offer

paristotokyo · 22/02/2024 10:27

Just seen the new GWP, it's a no from me! It's a disappointing one I think.

CornishPorsche · 22/02/2024 10:27

@TreesinthePark what a bunch of piss takers!

Although I ended up liking that car fragrance 😂
