I’m prepared to hold out for the next one then cancel unless it’s spectacular. I need some clarification from them on how the timing of cancellation works and how I can avoid paying more months than I have to though.
Like most others here, I thought it was a way to get captive customers; worked for me as I’ve been spending money with Liberty that I wouldn’t otherwise and finding the occasional new product so adding to the spend with them. No way those boxes are worth £15 though.

John Lewis has pulled a similar trick, they used to have lovely boxes a couple of times a year free with a particular beauty spend but now they only have paid boxes.

Orcadianrythyms · 14/02/2024 07:21

I’ve cancelled- I can’t believe they wanted to charge me £5 to keep my money and interest. This has really left a sour taste from a company I have a long history with and wanted to do well.
The ‘new’ benefits WERE THE SAME as before, it’s not on to treat loyalty this way.
My advent calendar was a disaster- empty boxes, multiple messages to get the products sent and I’d already decided not to order again.
Like others I’ve spent my credit and I’ll take my money elsewhere- it’s not nice to be treated like a mug.

slipperyeel · 14/02/2024 07:30

I doubt they’re this organised but I wonder if they calculated a lot of people would use their credit which would then be realised spend or profit as they approach the end of the financial year.

CaramelMac · 14/02/2024 07:43

I think what will happen is the people that stay who are now paying £15 per box will be more likely to complain about the contents, because when it’s free if it’s just a tiny sample or something is missing or items are repeated you’re more likely to shrug your shoulders and say well, it’s free, it when you’re paying £15 you expect more. I never thought the stuff came anywhere near the £300 mark but as it was free I wasn’t bothered.

RockaLock · 14/02/2024 07:43

Liberty's year end is the end of Jan, so it's not that.

But a good thought, though!

UntamedShrew · 14/02/2024 08:22

New kit email just received 👀

LoveLabradors · 14/02/2024 08:26

Not fussed about the new kit (once again!). Wash bag is very pretty. Too much money to take a risk on whether I will like the candle or not, ditto the perfume. Don’t like foaming face washes or Margaret Dabbs and not fussed on neom bath foam.
But I really did want to spend my credit asap so am disappointed this isn’t for me!

LoveLabradors · 14/02/2024 08:27

In typical Liberty style as well the one thing I’ve been waiting for a GWP to splurge on is Diptyque Eau Capitale but it’s not in stock. The same old story!

Wild0212 · 14/02/2024 08:34

Gutted about the price change. Even though the boxes were getting worse I was still preferring it to other beauty boxes because you can spend the credit. Doesn’t feel worth 60 pounds but I’m on the fence.
Is there any similar boxes like this where you keep the credit?
Feels like an odd thing for them to do, they must have realised they’d lose a lot of subscribers.

Hawkerslife · 14/02/2024 08:35

If I'd had around £100 in credit sat in my account I'd have probably gone for that new kit but alas, I cancelled yesterday and spent my credit. For me, it's still not worth the extra £5 a month.

TreesinthePark · 14/02/2024 08:36

This new kit is not for me, too expensive and foot lotion does not excite me one bit.

Ideally I'd use my credit asap and be done with it all since I cancelled yesterday but there's nothing I want. A GWP would be great but I feel it's risky now holding out if they are struggling and there's a chance I'd lose my credit. Really not sure what I'll do...

PomsRun · 14/02/2024 08:37

Ive ordered the kit - I had £50 in loyalty vouchers plus want to use some credit up. I’ll use most things and can pop the rest on vinted.

Nospecialcharactersplease · 14/02/2024 08:38

I’ve gone for the kit. I had a £20 loyalty voucher so it was £97, making each item £10ish. I use the Neom and the Ren regularly, and happy to try new QMS and Omorovicza as they are generally solid brands. My sandpaper feet might benefit from the Margaret Dabbs and I like a fig perfume, especially in spring.

I think I’ll cancel after this month and use my remaining credit towards a final GWP. Irked they haven’t had one already this year.

Housewife2010 · 14/02/2024 08:40

I really like the kit but not enough to spend £117 on it. Liberty used to do fabulous GWP's every September. I haven't bothered getting them for the last few years as the value & contents has declined.

I get the boxes (thinking of cancelling now) but haven't had an email about kit and can't see anything on website. Am I missing something?

Countmeout · 14/02/2024 08:47

I had already jumped and spent my credit last night. So much I had on my wish list was out of stick and made me a bit nervous . Nothing in the kit this morning particularly grabs me. I’ve yet to cancel but will. I’m going to try to find the original email from when I joined to see if they just change things do leaving conditions apply.

marshmallowface · 14/02/2024 08:47

Thank you! - looks good. Think I will purchase and then have a think about cancelling or not.

mum2three48 · 14/02/2024 08:48

Can someone link the new kit please. I don't get the emails and need to spend my credit

periodiclabel · 14/02/2024 08:59

I agree, OP, the September GWP used to be the highlight of my (admittedly, very very sad) year. It’s the reason I signed up to the scheme as I reckon I would always get the GWP. But last year it was crap and I didn’t bother, not sure I did it the previous year either. So I’m now holding out for one, which should better be the GWP of all GWPs, and they will probably make us wait …. Another thing, which I don’t know if anyone else had was two years in a row I was on holiday in Greece and got an email detailing an absolutely fabulous GWP from liberty involving a huge spend, but which I justified to myself as the gifts were so so good. But when I put the requisite amount of stuff in my basket, no GWP showed up so I didn’t buy. Emailed customer services who – classic – just didn’t bother getting back to me. It was almost like some kind of Mirage. I couldn’t work out if they had been trialling potential gwps, and for some reason sent emails out to people with foreign ISPs or what was going on ….

Jellycats4life · 14/02/2024 09:00

The kit isn’t very exciting so I won’t be buying.

I’m hoping for a Spring GWP which will allow me to spend my credit and my loyalty vouchers. Then I expect I’ll cancel.

Still can’t believe they’ve shot themselves in the foot like this. So many of us have said that we started shopping in their beauty department (and other departments!) after signing up, when we could have gone elsewhere. Now I’ll cheerfully move over to something like Cult Beauty.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 14/02/2024 09:19

I like the wash bag.

QueefofSheena · 14/02/2024 09:33

I spent my remaining credit on a Lisa Eldridge palette. Quite happy with that as I’m not thrilled with the kit. I did think about leaving the credit towards the AC but then I remembered the issues some people had with them. I'll probably go elsewhere for an AC this year.

ElleWoods15 · 14/02/2024 09:37

Liberty have just confirmed by email that they won’t be taking a final payment from me, which is good news at least….

‘Thank you for reaching out to Liberty London.

I can confirm with you that no payment will be taken from the account for 20 February as the Subscription will be terminated on the date.

We sincerely apologize for any dissatisfaction you have experienced. We appreciate your feedback and will take it into consideration moving forward.

If there is anything else we can assist you with, please do not hesitate to let us know.’
