I have just had a look at my balance and it’s £219. I think I might go into Liberty and get colour matched for some Lisa Eldridge foundation and maybe a lipstick in a couple of months. I have a few foundations in my stash that are either quite old now or aren’t quite right.

Then I’ll go back to letting it build up and get the advent calendar at the end of the year.

BurningTheToast · 11/02/2024 09:30

@Peridot1 My balance has got quite high too because I didn't buy the advent calendar. I'm in the wilds of Scotland and not likely to be in store soon so I'm hoping for a lovely GWP soon to scratch my new-products itch.

In other news, one of my birthday presents was the Penhaligon's Scent Library - ten samples of their most popular perfumes - so I'm enjoying working my way through those. Pity that I can't buy them in Liberty and use my BD funds for that. In the meantime, so far my favourites are Empressa and Halfeti. I'm looking for a new 'signature scent' as Clinique Aromatics Elixir seems to have changed...

But I digress - hoping for a GWP soon!

Peridot1 · 11/02/2024 09:34

@BurningTheToast - yes that would be quite a trek for you! I’m an hour by train so although I don’t go into London often I do a few times a year. (Your user name reminds me of my Dad who always burnt the toast and we call burnt toast after him now.)

BurningTheToast · 11/02/2024 09:42

@Peridot1 I'd love to live closer to London - galleries, theatre, easy access to the Eurostar and so on. And shopping.

In the current novel I've a character, Evie, who's commandeered every December to accompany an elderly aunt to do her Christmas shopping in Liberty. Evie follows in Agatha's formidable wake trailing purple wrapped packages of scent and silk scarves and then they go to Harrods's for tea and to buy violet creams in the food hall. I wrote it imagining myself as that Aunt when my nieces are old enough to be my pack ponies!

Peridot1 · 11/02/2024 11:08

@BurningTheToast - that sounds fabulous and like something I’d love to read. And do!

BurningTheToast · 11/02/2024 11:38

@Peridot1 Well, we'll see how it goes. I usually write crime but had this idea for a romance/women's fiction novel and have an editor at a publisher I love keen to read it so we'll see how it goes!

Couldn't agree more, shopping and violet cremes in a book, heaven!

Peridot1 · 11/02/2024 21:52

@BurningTheToast - best of luck with it! (PM me the details of your other books please.).

No longer free!

We’re writing to let you know about upcoming changes to your Liberty Beauty Drop subscription. Starting 16th March 2024, we will be introducing a service fee of £5 per month to your subscription price. Like many businesses, we have had to make this decision to manage the increased costs of running the program and to ensure that the Beauty Drop remains sustainable for our members for years to come.
Your monthly price will increase from £20 to £25, £20 of which you will continue to receive into your Beauty Drop account every month as credit to spend at Liberty. To ensure you continue to see outstanding value from us, we are upgrading the package of benefits you’ll receive as a subscriber.

Cancelled our 2 already

Someaddedsugar · 13/02/2024 14:36

I really don't think the boxes and the free shipping add up to an extra £60 worth of value!

Ap24 · 13/02/2024 14:36

So I've just received the update email. Am I right in thinking that the £5 service fee gives us no real benefits? We were always able to spend the credit across the site, free shipping was always a thing and we often received money off the advent calendar anyway?

They can stick it. I'm not paying £60 a year to have my money locked away, especially when I can often buy the things I want like fragrances cheaper elsewhere.

Conqueeftador · 13/02/2024 14:36

Has anyone else received an email to say that the beauty drop subscription is going up to £25, with the extra £5 to be a service fee?

Bimblesalong · 13/02/2024 14:37

Same here. Will be cancelling.

RJnomore1 · 13/02/2024 14:37

How many of us are cancelling then? I find it hard to spend the credit tbh so that really doesn’t appeal…

Edited

Just came on to post this. So effectively we are paying £60 a year for 4 random boxes we may or may not like?! Am tempted to cancel as well.

Conqueeftador · 13/02/2024 14:37

Oops, was a bit slow posting that😂

LaBrujaPiruja · 13/02/2024 14:38

Im cancelling

appears they want to end the scheme

Babysharkdoodoodood · 13/02/2024 14:38

It sucks. I can stand the £20:month in an account that gives interest

I'll wait until the next drop, then cancel

Ametora · 13/02/2024 14:38

I have no problem spending the credit as I live a short walk from Liberty and my dog loves the trip out

Honeymooner24 · 13/02/2024 14:39

This isn't going to go well for them. I'll be cancelling.

I checked t&c's and the credit remains valid for 24 months after cancellation.

ferretface · 13/02/2024 14:39

I received two emails, one saying it was changing from 16 March, one saying 16 May -which is it?

I'll likely stick with it til the summer and then cancel. Does your credit remain banked once it's cancelled?

Ducksinthebath · 13/02/2024 14:40

Definitely cancelling too. The “benefits” we’re already getting are , strangely enough, not very appealing.

ferretface · 13/02/2024 14:40

ah xposted with @Honeymooner24 - thanks :) i'll cancel after 3 months or so then wait to see what's available to use up my credit on.
