Will I be overdressed in this for NYE??

First time away (city break) with a guy I'm seeing, coinciding with New Years Eve. I bought this dress to wear with black ankle boots and a leather jacket.

Going for an early dinner which doesn't help but is the only availability for where we want to go. Then he's mentioning pubs rather than bars.

Will I be overdressed? It fits like a dream so I'd gutted to change it but don't want to feel self conscious all night either!

Looks perfect to me. The long sleeves and teaming with a leather jacket and boots means you will look stylish and comfortable in any place.

I think it will be great and if you can't make an effort on NYE when can you! We are off to a local pub for their NYE menu and I will be wearing something with sequins. I can remember when even a visit to a pub meant making an effort and I am now firmly in the camp of any chance to dress up is one I take. Go for it and enjoy your evening and if an outfit makes you happy, no need to feel self-conscious in it.

Doingmybest12 · 28/12/2023 17:42

For me that would be a statement but with flatter or chunky boots, biker jacket , something on your legs , casual hair it could look pretty cool. So I think it depends on your confidence levels and your usual style.

icelollycraving · 28/12/2023 17:44

I think that is perfect for a pub on NYE.

Belleoftheball83 · 28/12/2023 17:46

Thanks everyone. I rarely (if ever!) Dress up so you're making me feel better about wearing it! Got my spray tan booked to sort out my pasty legs, I might just dial back jewellery etc

For a pub I'd say yes, and also looks very see- though. But for a party it's perfect!

Soontobe60 · 28/12/2023 17:50

If it’s raining, that hem’s going to get soaked!

ChristmasAgainWTAF · 28/12/2023 17:52

Toned down with boots & tights, leather jacket it's perfect for that situation

coolkatt · 28/12/2023 17:53

soz i think u will be way overdressed, think of the weather too u will need a big coat, i'd go for more short dress or skirt, or trouser
set with a nice fancy top that's easy to wear
but still looks glam.

Goldypants · 28/12/2023 17:56

It’s the back bit.
You’ll look a bit Fleetwood Mac

cheeseandbiscuitsplease · 28/12/2023 17:56

I'd wear that with biker ankle boots and a biker jacket. Don't go too mad with the tan 👍

Oakbeam · 28/12/2023 18:02

Don’t forget your castanets.

RogueFemale · 28/12/2023 18:28

Definitely sexy and you can't really be overdressed for NYE. But I do agree with PP about the hem getting soaking wet if it's raining and you're going to be walking from restaurant to pub. And that wouldn't be fun or sexy.

Ironlights · 28/12/2023 18:43

Sorry it's a bit much 😟

Wheredidthebackboobscomefrom · 28/12/2023 18:47

Not to much at all, it is lovely, go for it!

WonderingWanda · 28/12/2023 18:47

It's lovely and it's NYE so go for it.

onemorerose · 28/12/2023 18:51

My pub is a local pub but it’s nye. Wear it and hitch up if walking in the rain. Obviously

Cakeandcardio · 28/12/2023 18:57

I never dress up like that but always think that people look fab when they do - no matter the venue. NYE is for dressing up so go for it.

Snacx · 28/12/2023 19:00

It's not much at all, i would say heels and a fur coat if it's not raining as ankle boots and leathet jacket make ir too casual

Ewoklady · 28/12/2023 19:03

I love it !! Because it’s black it doesn’t overly stand out and if it feels good it will look amazing

Frances0911 · 28/12/2023 19:17

I don't know if you'll be over dressed or not, but the dress is gorgeous.

therealcookiemonster · 28/12/2023 19:18

it depends on your personal choice.... I found the combination of ruffles and leopard print all a bit much.

Thatswhy11 · 28/12/2023 19:21

I'm not keen on the dress it's the bottom part. I prefer how the model has it on. Don't wear tights and boots it's a night out! NYE of all nights too. Go with heels and dress

SeanMean · 28/12/2023 19:21

It’s NYE, go for it!!!

Hibernatalie · 28/12/2023 19:24

Not too much at all. In fact, I'd wear it with heels. It's NYE!
