Will I be overdressed in this for NYE??

First time away (city break) with a guy I'm seeing, coinciding with New Years Eve. I bought this dress to wear with black ankle boots and a leather jacket.

Going for an early dinner which doesn't help but is the only availability for where we want to go. Then he's mentioning pubs rather than bars.

Will I be overdressed? It fits like a dream so I'd gutted to change it but don't want to feel self conscious all night either!

I also think it will be fine. Even if you end up at a pub where people aren't dressed up, it will be crowded so most people will only see the top, and it's the bottom that makes it dressier.

Do you actually want to go to pubs afterwards though? Or would you prefer a bar?

I like it. For traipsing round pubs in this weather I'd likely wear it with my platform doc boots, sheer patterned tights and either fur coat (I have long or short) or leather jacket. Long earrings and bright lip stick.

Heels kill my feet nowadays so I just don't bother.

Well I’m a Londoner thus cool and never knowingly overdressed - so I think it’s OTT as well as cheap and the wrong kind of 80s.

But hey it’s the north so a. There will def be others equally bizarrely dressed and b. Most people will be too drunk to care.

There's some mean comments on here... OP has said it fits like a dream and she obviously feels good in it, why poke fun at it and make her self conscious? Just say it's not your taste and leave it there

Perfect with leather jacket & boots. If weather is bad just lift it slightly on walking, of course thats assuming it does reach the ground with boots on. It's lovely 😁

If you wear it OP, just wear it with confidence and don’t give a shit if others are less dressy than you. You’ll only look out of place if you feel out of place.

Yes I wore it! With tights and boots, and didn't feel overdressed at all, there were women out in much dressier outfits than mine. Thanks everyone for all the help :)
