Nail wraps

I’ve been seduced by ads for Lily and Fox nail wraps. I love the idea of pretty manicured nails. But I’m hard on my hands (young kids so lots of handwashing and cleaning) and I’m not sure if they can possibly as good as advertised

Has anyone tried them?

I'm curious too. The instructions say you fold them over your own nails at the end, so presumably you have to have decent nails in the first place?

AnneLovesGilbert · 12/12/2023 11:56

I used to use them often. Really easy to do, whack a clear top coat on them. They last ages and you don’t have to wait for them to dry.

AnneLovesGilbert · 12/12/2023 11:57

They work on any length @Cookerhood With very bright or patterned designs I think they look better on short nicely shaped nails anyway.

Artyfarty555 · 12/12/2023 23:50

Can you buy nail wraps on the high street? If so, where about …fairly cheaply as just for a Christmas do. Thanks

DontBeAPrickDarren · 12/12/2023 23:52

Yep. Love them. You might want to wear gloves for washing up to preserve them but otherwise I find them pretty hardy. I order from Oh My Gosh.

DontBeAPrickDarren · 12/12/2023 23:57

Oh My Gosh are UK based, if that’s a deciding factor. Small female owned business. Not an ad, I just genuinely love them!

Cookerhood · 13/12/2023 11:01

I've just ordered some, so if you are on commission, I hope you get some 😂
They seem a reasonable price with free shipping over £10. Not a huge amount if I don't take to them.

8lue8irds · 13/12/2023 11:12

. I bloody love these things! Couldn't be without them now. Are use the brands moyou and some others on Amazon, I can't remember

I was unsure if you had to cure them with a curing lamp but doesn't sound like you do?

Some you do and some you don’t. I think there’s some semi-cured ones that you need a lamp for but I’ve never bothered with them.

My tip for application would be to lightly file the surface of your nail to create something for the wrap to grip onto, clean and dry your nails really well before applying and add a topcoat. You might need to baby them for a few hours while everything sets but they’re soon pretty bulletproof.

I cut them in half to get at least two sets out of each pack.

Medstudent12 · 18/12/2023 13:07

Put them on at night and go to sleep after so they don’t get wet
sally hansen hard as nails top coat but not a fast dry one
i want to avoid uv lamps with gels and they’re amazing

Medstudent12 · 18/12/2023 13:08

@DontBeAPrickDarren do they dry out once you’ve opened the packaging? I’d love to keep the sets as I have short nails I bet I could manage two sets

HermioneWeasley · 18/12/2023 13:12

I use lily and fox and they’re great. You need nails that are long enough to have an edge to file - if they’re right down to the quick then they are hard to apply, but they don’t need to be long. I find mine last about a week. They just stick on - no need to warm them or cure them. To remove I lift a bit of an edge and then use a nail polish remover soaked cotton wool pad to work them off.

they need a few hours to dry on - if you soak you hands straight afterwards they float off, but after the first few hours they’re fine until you decide to take them off.

HermioneWeasley · 18/12/2023 13:13

If you order from the Australian website it’s free p&p

@Medstudent12 the lily and fox ones don’t dry out but others I’ve bought off Etsy have

Dynamoat · 18/12/2023 13:14

I've ordered some and so keen to try them as no nail varnish has ever stayed on my nails longer than an hour. I just seem to chip it so easily.

How do you get them off though once you want rid?

EverythingHurtsAndImHungry · 18/12/2023 13:22

I've used the Lily & Fox wraps. They're pretty good, and lasted me about a week (and I'm hard on my nails!). They're really easy to apply, just have to make sure you don't stick them onto your cuticles or skin, as then they won't adhere and will peel off really easily. If you don't want Express shipping, then shipping is free, and usually only takes 10-14 days to arrive.

Not that I’ve noticed - I tend to feed them back into the original packaging once I’ve put a set on

I don’t use cured ones so mine just eventually peel off. You could soak in cotton wool soaked in nail varnish remover for a few minutes and that would probably break the glue down quickly for any that were still well stuck

Thank you for your recommendation. I’ve just ordered a few sets eats for my girls for Christmas. If they don’t arrive in time it’s a January treat.

I ordered just after midnight on Weds and they were dispatched on Saturday - usually by first class post so you should have them before Christmas. I also ordered some for kids so hoping they arrive in time!

Fingers crossed then. It’s a shame they don’t have more choice for kids but if these work well I’ll maybe try a different brand with more selection for little ones.

I became allergic to gels after having them for years. I wish I had discovered wraps aeons ago as really miss having my nails done. I ordered these ones from Amazon and I am so impressed. Put them on last Tuesday...took 15 mins to stick, smooth, file and top coat and they are still on..have re topped coated just for the shine but no signs of lifting or peeling etc.
