@Stravaig - I thought their selections were really good and Iiked their enthusiasm.

The poncho is edging ever closer to checkout for me. The site photos don't do them justice ...but they look great on the 2 live sessions they've featured in. I have a bunch of wraps and ponchos already so really trying to hold back.

mizu · 04/12/2023 21:16

@HoldingOnForAHeron well done, it's a great feeling isn't it when you win something really good.

Thanks @Dee1224 I might leave the dress for now, it'll probably pop up in another sale nearer spring.

Not putting tree up quite yet, probably next weekend but will put together the TOAST paper chains soon and put them up.

DD1 back from Edinburgh uni on 21st for the hols - haven't seen her since 9th September and want our little place looking lovely for her return 🥰

faustina · 05/12/2023 06:40

@Stravaig - something happened while I was watching that live and I forgot to get back to it, but they both have a really good eye for things don't they? If you're on instagram, they're called Stixstyled, and then they have another account called styleinthestix where they have sales of preloved things. Both really nice accounts to follow

@HoldingOnForAHeron - congratulations! It doesn't happen too often, but lovely when it does - enjoy your wonderful boots! which colour did you get?

QueenJaineApproximately · 05/12/2023 23:33

Thank you @Countmeout for the new thread. 😊

HoldingOnForAHeron · 06/12/2023 08:59

@faustina , burgundy, which was what I wanted, got black already. I've been really lucky this week. There was something I quite fancied on as buy it now, and had been umming and ahing about making an offer, and the price was dropped. Still very expensive, but I was after a certain pattern and colourway and it was just right. (big clue: Toast sell something not dissimilar but the Toast one isn't right for me due to size and pattern, and the vintage one was slightly cheaper)

I also have been looking for something pretty niche for ages but it's something that has a name, but unless you know what it's called you won't search/list it under that name. It's something unique and artisanal that has a list price in the hundreds, but I looked under a vague description, and put a fairly low bid on it. Got it for less than half my bid. The bad news is that it is collection only, and about a 90+ mile round trip.

I have to limit my ebay to selling only. It's been an expensive week and it's only Wednesday!

@Stravaig , 'lovely', 'stunning', 'beautiful' and 'gorgeous' are fairly meaningless. It detracts IMO. If I see something listed on ebay or vinted with one of those in the title, I'm already put off, and the item is not usually stunning/beautiful/gorgeous.

Anyway, it's not an ebay thread. I really like some of the Toast clothes on here despite having lost interest in Toast many years ago now. I've just had a look and want lots of things. I entered the competition. Fingers crossed!

MiracleToast · 08/12/2023 23:00

Did anyone win the competition? I can’t see the winners section

Saurus72 · 08/12/2023 23:18

Definitely not me sadly!

A while ago I think someone on this thread found the manufacturer of the glycerine soap that Toast sell. Does anyone recall who it is please? I’ve googled but can seem to find it. I love the petigrain one, I’d quite like to buy in bulk for a lower cost! TIA

Noodle421 · 08/12/2023 23:39

@Saurus72 the company is called Droyts I think. I made a note of it at the time it was discussed and then forgot about it until now !

Saurus72 · 08/12/2023 23:40

Thank you so much 😊

AmethystMoonShine · 09/12/2023 03:53

@Saurus72 annoyingly Droyt don’t sell the same soaps they make for Toast. That said the ones they do sell directly are lovely.

Saurus72 · 09/12/2023 04:21

@AmethystMoonShine Insomniacs of the world unite 😵‍💫🫤

Yes, I searched for the petigrain and couldn’t see it. Lemon might be nice, and they’re almost half the price of the Toast ones. Definitely worth trying a few I think.

AmethystMoonShine · 09/12/2023 07:54

@Saurus72 ha ya yes not much sleep here at the moment as we have a ten week old puppy! 🥱
Droyt soap is lovely quality

HoldingOnForAHeron · 09/12/2023 08:27

The boots arrived and apart from a superficial scratch that's not really noticeable are as new. They make my other ones look quite drab in comparison, and the burgundy colour is great. What a bargain.

I've also collected my big ebay purchase, and it's great. It's a vintage version of Melin Tregwynt Welsh Blanket | Mead/Ash | TOAST but in the colourway I wanted, and big enough to cover a double or king size bed. It was cheaper than the linked item, so I'd say that was a win.

applecatchers36 · 09/12/2023 09:01

HoldingonforaHeron wow those are great finds by the sound of it love a Welsh blanket and boots sounds like a great success! Can you post the colours of the blanket love to see it...

Am currently putting a few bits on eBay hoping for some sales to fund future sales purchases!

Brackenfield · 09/12/2023 09:19

If you're ever in Pembrokeshire the Melin Tregwynt Mill itself is absolutely gorgeous, and has a lovely cafe and shop as well. I spent far more than I should have on blankets when I lived there! And depending on your route you can also take in the Toast outlet 😌

applecatchers36 · 09/12/2023 09:32

Thanks Brakenfield just googled the mill might be dangerous so many gorgeous throws and blankets. Will have to plot a trip to West Wales next year...

HoldingOnForAHeron · 09/12/2023 09:44

This was the colourway I was after. Might not be everyone's favourite. I had a similar one on my bed as a child.

I need to list things too. I have many things listed and it's amazing what sells and what doesn't get a single view.
The questions I get are bewildering. Here's today's (listing is for a pair of beige trousers 'Hi are these pants really light coloured in real life?'. I resisted the temptation to reply 'No, they are jet black' Smile

I'm nowhere near Pembrokeshire unfortunately but I remember going to Trefriw Woollen Mill as a child. The blankets were a typical wedding present in the old days.

alliscalm · 09/12/2023 10:15

Melin Tregwynt is one of my favourite shops, it has a great cafe and the beach down the road is glorious. Well worth a visit @applecatchers36 . I went to a talk on the history of the mill recently and they said they like collaborating with Toast because they credit them. And it seems it has worked in spreading the word. Sadly, @Brackenfield the outlet side in Llandeilo closed about a year ago, replaced by menswear.

alliscalm · 09/12/2023 10:17

Gorgeous blanket, @HoldingOnForAHeron

HoldingOnForAHeron · 09/12/2023 10:42

Thank you. The seller had a different one which was probably nicer, but I specifically wanted a mainly black one, and that pattern. The Tregwynt ones are nice but modern. I looked up the price for a new MT one and it's £380!

Stoic123 · 09/12/2023 11:05

@HoldingOnForAHeron - the blanket colours give off a lovely retro vibe. I feel cosy and safe just looking at them.

I have the mead/ash version from Toast- love it.

HoldingOnForAHeron · 09/12/2023 11:16

Yes, they definitely have a retro and cosy vibe.
On a positive note, I've just had an ebay sale.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 09/12/2023 14:23

@Noodle421 @AmethystMoonShine Thank you for the Droyt soap info, I have just ordered a selection to try, and maybe add to a few Christmas presents.

HoldingOnForAHeron · 09/12/2023 15:06

Why did I post on this thread? I keep reading about things I never knew I wanted. Like the Droyt soap and Clay utility dress. And a donegal jumper.

I've been looking for a donegal jumper for years and the men's one looks perfect but £££ even more than my blanket

mizu · 09/12/2023 15:39

@HoldingOnForAHeron 😁 it can be a bit like that on here, lots of sharing of things you never knew you wanted! Also great fun when sale time hits.......looking for to the December sale which is one that I usually buy something from.

Well done on your eBay sale. I've sold a few bits recently but then bought a lovely TOAST coatigan in charcoal from Vinted to replace 😁
