I thought I'd do a Xmas edition of the styling threads I've done before for anyone who is interested 🎄👠

Oh I loved these threads before! I've got a wedding coming up in November and really need some ideas. Slim, big boobs, don't like wearing anything short. Thinking maybe velvet? Nothing too xmas. Love brands like Rixo, Self Portrait but would prefer something a little more budget. Thank you!

I lost the last thread and couldn't find you again so I'm thrilled you've popped up here! :)

Any suggestions for a 50 something 5'3" size 14/16 with big boobs and a thickening menopausal middle? Looking for something for a casual Xmas party and am happy with trousers or a dress. Budget up to £100.

frillseeking · 27/10/2023 20:38

@frimmers it's quite tricky finding an event dress at this time of year because the shops are starting to go full party wear. I had a few styles earmarked that could work. The first printed dress from New Look gives Rixo vibes (at a fraction!) obviously it's styled casually here I can see this with a heel looking really gorgeous. The second style from Nobody's Child is just a really gorgeous silhouette that is simple but super elegant for a wedding. The third style from Coast (which has really upped its game recently) has self portrait vibes and I think would look great with a little statement jacket

Something like this &other stories jacket would look great with the red dress and the lace dress and I love these velvet shoes form
Zara which would work for an occasion but also look great with jeans

I am slim, hipped, short waisted, and I would like some loose jeans that aren’t flappy about the thighs, maybe chambre or soft denim to rest on trainers

shoeawsome · 27/10/2023 21:43

Fantastic!

I don't have any particular questions but I'm here to be inspired!

Thank you for coming back!

GinJarRogers · 27/10/2023 21:57

Thanks - I really enjoyed your first thread.
Any boot recommendations? I’m looking for some to wear with wide leg trousers/jeans. Ideally black and with a comfortable heel.

MandaLynn · 27/10/2023 22:00

Oo an office Christmas party outfit. I've recently been promoted to a fairly senior role but definitely suffer from imposter syndrome- and being quite petite in a room full of people a good head taller than me doesn't help.
5'3", slim, pretty straight up and down

frillseeking · 27/10/2023 22:06

@Pushkinini something like this might work. A bit of subtle sparkle and a tummy skimming silhouette

@PollyIndia these are similar, I also expected Zara to be on this one but couldn't find anything

@MandaLynn how formal do you need to be? My first thought is something wow like this Maje dress here. I've seen a few fashionistas wearing it and it looks amazing on and great for a petite build

Why is she wearing it with Wellington boots?

JMAngel1 · 28/10/2023 09:21

They're not wellies😂 - they're the knee high cowboy boot trend.

frillseeking · 28/10/2023 10:39

@PunchyJudy ha ha, these are cowboy style boots which are everywhere at the moment but I don't think they work with this dress at all. If anyone's interested, have a look at how Debbie le Grainger (the fashionable pan) wears it on Instagram.

I am aware of cowboy boots being in fashion, but these are simply too wide for her legs

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/10/2023 11:07

I’m similar to Pushkinini but a couple of inches taller.
That looks really nice. I have some M&S slim fit black trousers that are ankle skimming ( very last year I know) but ok with an evening shoe but I can’t wear heels

frillseeking · 28/10/2023 11:24

@PunchyJudy I agree they look far too wide but it is a look that's around at the moment. Givenchy started it with their padlock boots and then the Toteme wide shaft boots gained cult like status and now it's filtering down to the high street and being seen in street style

@GinJarRogers it is quite tricky to get the right boots to wear with wide legs. The below styles work because they've got a slightly chiselled toe which works well with this shape as it elongates

As someone with very slim legs for whom boots often look like this it’s a no! 😂

Seems most people have pretty fat legs, so finding baggy ones is going to be an ordeal for them

frillseeking · 28/10/2023 11:50

@PunchyJudy this is the denim shape that might work for you. A relaxed fit but not too wide in the leg and a mid rise waist.

Oh thanks mate. I do find the descriptions of jeans as 90s are rather cute.

frillseeking · 28/10/2023 12:02

@70isaLimitNotaTarget there are lots of really elegant flat shoes around now. Something like this would work or even a velvet Mary Jane
