Just reading the comments on the live video and how it works with two people on screen. I was in the Hampstead store last Friday week when I made by big haul purchase of the sturlini loafers, garden print dress, organic denim skirt, jacquard silk trousers, silk twill blouse in green and the pintuck gingham top. It was only half way through the video that I realised that the person with Evie, Louise Webber, was one of the sales assistants in store that day. Until that point I had felt like some of you, who was she, she seemed a bit of a spare part on the day and that you couldn’t hear her either.
Well, I have to say, in store she was absolutely delightful. All three assistants were helpful and informed but Louise definitely the most so. We had quite a conversation because I was dithering between the Sturlini loafers and the Sturlini tread boots. She really helped me to focus on the pros and cons and we both decided that the loafers were that bit more “special”. Louise really knew her stuff around the brand and was a great ambassador for Toast, really singing their praises in terms of design and cut. She also referenced (without specifically naming) other high end brands that she had worked for and said how much better Toast was.
I think there are a couple of things: Louise is very gentle and softly spoken in real life and that probably doesn’t translate well on a live video link and with someone like Evie who projects so much more. The second thing is as others have said: Louise should have been given a clearer and more defined role and a definite platform within the Iive video to be able to talk. When she spoke to me in store she was really interesting and very much worth listening too. I think there was a missed opportunity with the live video to have bought out Louise’s value and contribution which could have complimented Evie as their styles and their knowledge base are different.
One more thing: Louise was dressed exquisitely in store: trousers, fab socks, Birkenstock clogs and a blouse and jacket put together really stylishly. I think she is one of those people who would look good in any brand and would make it her own.
Re the video, I agree that the ‘older’ model looked absolutely gorgeous and I so loved her hair. If I could get mine to look like that, I would be delighted.
Now that I have typed all of this I have found myself lusting after those Sturlini boots again. Plus, reading all of your comments about the velvet has got me thinking about that too.
I don’t want to look too much like the Toast staff stalker: I am the one who ran into Nikki Sher in the pub and had a conversation (and my photo taken) with her a couple of months ago. Okay, Evie is next on my hit list to ‘bump’ into!!!
