@Countmeout i have this shirt! I so wish I had bought it in a larger size as it’s quite teeny on me now—it must have shrunk 😉

ToastCosILoveIt · 29/10/2023 17:54

@faustina , I wore it with very, very dark wool grey Falke tights and DMs. You could wear knee boots with it or a trainer or a chunky loafer. I think blundstones would also look good (I think the model is wearing blundstones)? One of the good things about it is the length: it is below the knee but only just. It’s in the wash at the moment: I have worn it twice but managed to get a bit of chocolate down the front that melted 🙄

faustina · 29/10/2023 17:56

Thank you! Maybe if it comes back in the next sale I'll have a go. I usually prefer something a bit longer but your ideas sound good. Chocolate is lethal for stains - good thing it tastes so nice!

Countmeout · 29/10/2023 18:52

@MiracleToast funny I think mine may have shrunk a little too. Should we return them 🤣

@Countmeout good idea! 😂

I did chuckle at Real Time @clowniform
Are you a fan of EF Benson by any chance ?

I just had a panic and tried on the cords but the pockets lie flat.
In the toast photo one is flat and one is bulgy but they dont fit in anyway like mine either, mine are full length not cropped and a more relaxed fit.

I would love to see a picture of the finished cords.

@faustina I have that dress and someone on here made me realise that the lengths differ between the sizes.
I tried a S and a M and preferred the llengthof the M which was longer than the photo , falling about 4 inches below the lower part of my knee.
I look too gangly otherwise.
Such a useful dress and I also have the Drawstring denim one which was also longer than the picture.
I wear both with Blundstones, knee length boots, rock scrambling shoes or sandals .
I really dont understand why toast persist in using young, slender models when most companies are using more diverse range of ages and sizes.
Showing everything in an xs/s or size 8 on very tall models and having differing lengths means we don't see the true nature of all the garments.
Again for the umpteenth timetoast please give us garment measurements.

faustina · 29/10/2023 20:33

@Alpacasoft - thank you! It is complicated, though they do give the heights of some models I think now? In the past I've had dresses (specifically a beautiful corduroy one) and they've hit at just the most unflattering length for my short legs. I will definitely give this one a try if it reappears in the sale in denim. Failing that I will save for a leg transplant 😁

dudsville · 29/10/2023 20:38

@clowniform , that cos wool jacket is perfect, so useful!

Haha!
There are also unflattering lengths for long legs.
I tend to look like a 🦒

Outfit of the day was to do a homeware shop at JL : Check black and ivory shirt with tie neck, dark grey Gabis, Alpaca sleeveless tank from this year topped with an old M Howell greenish Mac from a sample sale ., old black Solovair boots.
As I arrived at JL to meet husband an hour early !! I managed to get a good look around the Mayfair store .
I can eliminate the deep V denim pinafore from my wish list. I felt disheartened what with bad hair, rain and general grumpiness at having forgotten Autumn back.

dudsville · 30/10/2023 10:58

All item names escape me just now, but I'm in the blueberry check shirt dress from a couple of sales ago with dark navy tights and dark wine pascal dm's, so i guess my style inspiration for today is summer fruit pudding.😄

I have the brown neat cardi, a cap and a mustard rain coat just in case, but I'm already warm having run for a train. I was going to wear this dress with just socks, but it's my shortest dress and I just can't get used to the amount of bare leg, which I pretended just wasn't happening in summer with sandals - "don't look down" was my motto!

Noodle421 · 30/10/2023 13:10

@dudsville I love all your descriptions and now you’ve made me hungry ! Loving the sound of your outfit and everyone else’s. @clowniform you are inspiring me to think out of the box and put together different combinations. Love the sound of socks, grey top and painter skirt and a compliment from MHL staff too, very impressive.

Countmeout · 30/10/2023 15:02

The most utterly miserable wet day here. Hate this weather. Wearing the concrete cords and navy linen shirt with my Scarlett knitwear triangle scarf. Added the green waxed(?) Mac but have pulled out a Mira sweater on getting home as I felt a bit chill. Sticking to trainers for the present although it’s really boot weather.
Is anyone apart from @ilovecherries having decent weather?

it's not too bad here! Sunny but not very warm, though I'm dreading the sound of this new storm arriving on Wednesday night. Not wearing one single toast item today - big black cashmere jumper, very old Uniqlo jeans and brand new (extremely cosy) fit flop micro shearling boots, with Kate Sheridan mustard tote

applecatchers36 · 30/10/2023 16:45

A bit rainy and miserable here today. In my wool check Gabi's, pea top and a Mira jumper which was recently repaired as had a couple of holes and they did a great job.

Am really tempted by the Alpaca Navy tank with the cute buttons. Has anyone got it and how are you getting on with it, do you find it a versatile piece does it go with a lot?

We only have 48 hours to go. I’m miserable already at the thought. Scotland is freezing and wet apparently. I’m still wearing toast every day though - mainly one of several pairs of the linen shorts and a tee and sometimes a Hush sweat added in the evening. Starting to look a bit out of place amongst the locals who have moved into coats and jumpers! I’ve never had an extended break before, it’s been wonderful.

ilovecherries · 30/10/2023 17:04

Although it may be time to get home to protect my wardrobe. I bought a dress n the FB group last week and told my dd to open it and hang it up when it arrived so it didn’t get crushed. Next thing a photo arrives saying ‘I think this really suits me. Would it be ok if I borrowed it for a wedding on Saturday?’ She didn’t put ‘borrowed’ in inverted commas but she may as well have done.

dudsville · 30/10/2023 17:09

Uh oh @ilovecherries !

Saurus72 · 30/10/2023 17:26

@Tsukiko Hi, yes I tried this dress on a couple of months ago - it was difficult to really envisage it because it was a boiling hot day. I usually know straight away if a dress is ‘me’ or not but for this one I’m very torn. The sleeves are definitely a statement and not something I would usually go for however this dress was not what I expected. It’s quite fitted in the bodice with a v low v at the front. I’m still not sure, it’s quite tempting as a cosy winter dress, would look great with knee boots I think.

I just popped in to say that the Chupwool socks are absolutely gorgeous and I think I’ve finally found something to keep my block of ice feet warm while I’m sitting at my desk through the winter (worn with Falke wool slipper socks) Very tempted to get the other colour. When will it end..?

Tsukiko · 30/10/2023 17:32

Thank you @Saurus72 It looks so sumptuous yet simple, which I am usually drawn to. I would likely have it shortened to just below knee if I purchased it, but the arms are bothering me. I like the length but not sure about the puffiness. I could imagine having to wear something under it, too, perhaps.

Dee1224 · 30/10/2023 17:37

Hi all, I spent last night curating my already extensive Toast wishlist in optimistic preparation for a - probably imaginary - mini November sale!

Bizarrely warm here in Somerset the last few days, and sunny apart from a daily downpour seemingly every day at about 1pm for a few minutes!

I went to Bath today and enjoyed looking round shops - I saw the Astrid & Miyu shop in real life and spotted some lovely earrings in the window that are currently on my radar. I mustn’t buy them, though, as I have enough costume jewellery to bedeck a small town, but always wear the same stuff!

I was going to wear one of my Toast garment dyed tees today, but pre-Halloween had to wear my black cat sequin tee instead🤣

PretLea · 30/10/2023 17:54

@Tsukiko I absolutely love that dress. Saw it on a sales assistant, and asked her how she would make herself warmer wearing it. She mentioned layering under it, including a roll neck top/thin jumper, or popping a tank over it. But I’m not sure there’s much you could get over it, like a coat, since the sleeves are voluminous.

@Saurus72 those socks are very much on my wish list!

I wanted to ask about the tie neck Donegal cardigans. I think they had them last year too, in plain green colours. And this year they are striped. I’m curious about the style and wearability of them. Any advice or suggestions would be great, whether positive or negative.

Ha! It is a lovely dress.

Stoic123 · 30/10/2023 18:26

@Saurus72 - my Chups have arrived and they are indeed gorgeous 😍. Suddenly £39 seems a very reasonable amount to pay for a pair of socks 😬.

Also tempted to get the other pair - will wash a couple of times first to see how they go.
