@Snowyowl78 I have some Chie Mihara ankle boots - OH bought them for me when we went to Toast at Kilver Court a while ago. I spotted them and loved them but they were a size 5 and I’m always a 6. Anyway, I decided to try them and they fit like a glove! So it sounds like sizing is a bit all over the place.

My order - poppies dress and the Sturlini sandals - is due to be delivered today. They need to be perfect for me to keep them so the standards are high!

Snowyowl78 · 30/11/2023 09:36

@Saurus72 ooh what are they like? Mine are ok length wise but tight on the width!
I’ve been bad and also ordered the Sturlini ankle boots, they are v expensive! Which sandals did you get?

Saurus72 · 30/11/2023 09:47

@Snowyowl78 This is a bad picture but hopefully you get the idea! They’re beautiful boots, really soft and so comfy.

I’ve ordered the Adrie sandals in dark blue - good reviews but we’ll see (hopefully today). Adrie sandals

@Saurus72 ooh I like those, going to keep my eye out for more on Vinted. Sandals are nice too!

OftenOrange · 30/11/2023 13:38

@Saurus72 I have those boots , I love them too and agree that they’re the softest leather , but I find that the way the heel is set throws my balance slightly . I have hung on to them because they look great with dresses , but in reality I’m a fast walker and hate feeling hampered so haven’t worn them recently .

OftenOrange · 30/11/2023 13:52

Both parcels arrived , a very large amount of returns and one or two 👍
The good :
1.Clay Denim Dress . It’s very me and although I’m now beige myself the colour does look ok . Very pleased with it and have nothing similar
2 Robyn Poplin Dress . Just gorgeous and flattering , love the deep navy/black and although I so don’t need it , it’s a keeper

The bad ,too many to list all
Coral print brown cream dress , a real beaury but not flattering on me .
Sailor collar denim @Dee1224 It is quite nice but too roomy and long on me ,
Mariner Laceup neck top …just weird in a bad way on me .
Pierrot collar top , Lovely from the front but dreadful at the back, fabric very light and the cut is terrible .

Onthe fence Citrus and brown crepe dress , Looks lovely but too many dresses languishing and I can’t do justify keeping .
Space check shorts I consider these to be a dressy short and I don’t do that any more , I’d wear them in the garden though .

New to posting on this thread but a bit of a lurker. I'm so relieved Toast is making things that actually fit me once again. I've just received the cable knit wool cotton gansey jumper in bone (size xxs) and the sailor collar wool cotton sweater in mallard green (size xs). Both a slightly loose but not baggy fit. What on earth is with xxs sizing though? I am not a pixie. The green colour is gorgeous but I wonder if the style is slightly dated. Will keep it for the colour.

@Snowyowl78, I recently learned the hairdryer trick for shoes/boots. While you're wearing them, blast the hairdryer all over them for about 20 seconds. Keep them on your feet while they cool down. I did this a couple of times over a few days and it really made a different.

ProfessorMinervaMcGonagall · 30/11/2023 14:01

Just reporting in to record how happy I am with my sale haul of:

cotton twill balloon trousers (although I do wish that Toast would commit to more accurate language to describe the colours of its fabrics: these are not SLATE; they are navy blue!)

crinkle cotton pinafore - I absolutely love this and will be wearing it tomorrow with a Uniqlo black cashmere polo neck sweater underneath. I honestly don’t know why this useful and lovely dress has passed me by before as it is right up my street.

Driftwood scarf - delightfully huge and wrappy and perfect for this weather (we have snow 😱). I have a Toast cashmere/wool wrappy scarf from a few years ago but DD2 has adopted it as her bed snuggler in protest at me recycling her stained and holey baby muslins). This will be a good replacement and the colours are simply lovely: muted but complementary to the typical Toast palette.

Noor blanket in Sea Coral (orange to you and I): OMG, I am in blanket heaven and I only wish that I had ordered another in the ochre colour.

I have the Trailing Ikat jumpsuit to arrive tomorrow so I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will be a full bingo card of hits.

Saurus72 · 30/11/2023 14:09

Very glad to read about the successes!

My parcel just arrived and is a big fat fail. The poppies crepe dress is soo unflattering in every way - colour and design. It’s just huge even though it’s my usual (old) Toast size. The Sturlini sandals, while beautiful, are also going back. They are long, so there’s about 2 years inches between where my toes end and the edge of the shoe. I know this will just make me trip up so back they go. Credit card is v v happy.

applecatchers36 · 30/11/2023 14:12

Professor that is a great haul I have those trousers and totally agree about the colour (mis)description... definitely not slate..

Love hearing about all your hits and misses. Have sat on my hands except for one homeware gift but no clothes this time!

Am feeling very toasty today despite the freeze in cord Gabi's and Fair Isle knit been waiting to get these out!

faustina · 30/11/2023 15:13

@notwavingbutdrowning1 - welcome to the thread and thank you very much for the hairdryer tip - it sounds extremely useful!

I liked that gansey too but felt the colour might wash me out

Both my parcels arrived. It's quite hard to decide on things out of season isn't it? A couple of pieces were easy fails: the denim skirt just not right for my body shape and I think it would drive me bananas buttoning and unbuttoning those side buttons too. I finally tried the drawstring waist denim dress and that's not great on me either - odd shape and a bit too short

However the green gingham Alixes in cotton are fabulous! They're stiffer than the linen ones I have - in a good way. I had ordered an 8 and a 4 and ridiculously, the 4 is perfect (my current Alixes are all 8 and 6)

The Kitty clogs in tan are surprisingly comfortable and I really like them - am wondering if I should try the next size up just in case they're a slightly better fit, though maybe I should just try the hairdryer tip?

notwavingbutdrowning1 · 30/11/2023 15:36

The hairdryer works well on soft leather, @faustina. I imagine the leather on clogs would be quite stiff, so I don't know if it would have the same effect.

But if they're comfortable and you love them, I would keep them!

ScottishMouse · 30/11/2023 16:05

My sale parcel arrived too. Yet to try anything, but thought this photo might amuse. I put a pair of indigo Alix in my order too, as I love them so much and am afraid of what will happen when mine wear out. Luckily I ordered both 6 and 8. My old ones are a 6. Look at the difference in size between the old 6 and the new 6! The new 8 are just about ok, still a bit smaller than the old 6, but will be fine once they have been worn in.

Dee1224 · 30/11/2023 16:31

That just sums up Toast’s sizing @ScottishMouse 🤣

Thanks for the feedback @OftenOrange Looks like I was right to hold off on the jacket.

I have only received the clogs so far - the dark green ones. They are lovely and the straps actually have punched through holes, (unusable holes on straps was a fault on a lot of these shoes).

They fit, (I knew they would as I tried them on in-store and have been wanting them ever since), but the hard wood of the sole is far more uncomfortable on the ball of my foot than I remember. Given my Kilver Court clog fail in the summer, I really can’t have another pair I can’t wear!

I was at work in highish boots this am, however, followed by an exciting tour round two supermarkets, so will give them another try tomorrow morning when my feet are feeling better.

MsDastardley · 30/11/2023 16:32

I received the Alder dress today. It is lovely, much nicer than photos.

I wore my neat denim dress for the first time yesterday. I don’t think I’ve ever had so many compliments about an outfit before. I was feeling unsure about it, so pleased with feedback!

clowniform · 30/11/2023 17:27

@faustina what size is your side button denim skirt please? I ordered the 6 and the waist measures 32" 😮Utterly bizarre. So much for Toast's new 'true' sizing.

faustina · 30/11/2023 17:32

@clowniform it's an 8 I'm afraid. It fits but isn't comfortable and not flattering for my shape. I didn't measure it but your 6 sounds as bizarre as my size 4 alixes

faustina · 30/11/2023 17:37

@ScottishMouse can I ask how much the new size 6 denim alixes were? ( if you don't plan to keep). I might find them more useful than the green gingham

clowniform · 30/11/2023 17:51

@faustina thanks! More fool me for dismissing the 4 out of hand (still think that's not even a real size! 😅) Oh well, making the most of my kindred membership before they cancel it.

Snowyowl78 · 30/11/2023 17:52

@MsDastardley which denim dress is that?

@notwavingbutdrowning1 welcome! Thanks for the tip I will try jt

@OftenOrange I have the Robyn from last sale, love it, not worn yet!

Countmeout · 30/11/2023 17:56

Aaagh only 5 to go and I’m making dinner can someone start a new thread please

agnesmartin · 30/11/2023 18:01

My parcels arrived today.

Am sending everything back apart from the cotton merino mustard marl tank. It will be useful I think. Looks great with dark denim and I can wear it over my black/slate dresses for a bit of colour.

I ordered the green version as well but in a smaller size, which was a bit tight/short. Will consider getting that as well in the winter sale.

Coral embroidered skirt is pretty and a nice shape but arrived really creased and I realised that given how unlikely I am to iron anything anyway, the chances decrease markedly when there is embroidery I need to think about as well. Just wouldn't happen.

Ecru barrel legged jeans are a nice shape and are designed for hips which my other Toast one's aren't (from years ago) but the colour's not really practical for my lifestyle.

The Montella ? v-neck didn't suit.

And I decided that I don't need another pair of the diamond print trousers.

Obviously I'll have time to rethink all of that in time for the Christmas sale!
