Cartier ring - decisions decisions!

Finally, my chance to post about high end stuff after plugging Uniqlo and Next on here for years!

I have always loved Cartier jewellery and am now very fortunate to be able to choose a wedding band from there.

I have 2 favourite styles I've loved forever, both Cartier classics, and now have to pick one! The 'Love' or 'Trinity' in either gold or tricolour.
CRB4085000 - LOVE wedding band - Yellow gold - Cartier
Trinity ring (cartier.com)

Any opinions, experiences etc that would sway me one way or the other would be much appreciated! I'm 100% committed to one of the two though, and won't be entertaining other options. If you hate them both and just want to come on and tell me that.... be my guest I suppose, I don't really care Grin

I prefer the trinity ring!

Covetthee · 24/10/2023 04:43

I like them both OP. I have the love one ( not as a wedding band) and I love it and would recommend it, its a classic style imo

Will you be wearing your engagement ring with it? If so is it gold/platnium?

RoseCurry · 24/10/2023 04:49

I don't have either but if I were to buy one it would the trinity ring because I suit and wear gold and silver and they seem more versatile and less popular style. It's also more classic with a twist and feminine, soft, bohemian type style. I would choose this dress if you wore a lot of swishy feminine dresses, skirts, heels. I feel this style will last forever, a classic.

The Love wedding band probably will feel nicely flush on the fingers but it's been done to death even Shein has this style.. also would dirt settle into the recessed parts? I feel this ring is suited if you dress androgynous or sporty/casual, it would look good with jeans and work suits. This style I saw on many social media influencers, usually women in 20s and 30s.

Questions to think about:

  • What metals suit your colouring?
  • What metals do you enjoy wearing? If you only ever wear gold it makes sense to choose loveband
  • Are you casual or more dressy? Loveband is more casual IMO
  • Is your style generally vintage or more modern? Loveband suits modern style
  • what is your age group?Loveband seems to be worn by younger women
  • How sensitive are you to bulkier rings? I don't know if the trinity will be comfortable.
XelaM · 24/10/2023 04:49

Love them both, but Trinity ring has a slight edge

RoseCurry · 24/10/2023 04:53

The trinity one looks classier, loveband is everywhere seemingly. I feel trinity is more 'quiet luxury' and I always think you can't go wrong getting the classic version. it's also more versatile with 3 different metals it gives you more freedom to wear different metals. I know some people happily mix metals but many still keep to all gold or all silver rule.

NeunundneunzigHorseBallonz · 24/10/2023 05:09

I love them both and would choose the trinity if it were me. (I also wear all shades of gold and silver) however, I worry that it wouldn’t sit nicely with an engagement ring. I had that for years and it drove me bonkers. (Now re-designed to have a solid line.)

Saggypants · 24/10/2023 05:32

Interesting views, thanks so much. Definitely a preference for Trinity. Your points about metals are good ones - I am warm toned and generally wear all gold but it would be nice to tie in with my silver or rose gold pieces which don't normally get a lot of wear.

My engagement ring is yellow gold and diamond and quite a curvy design. It's vintage, I can't find something like it online but the shapes are sort of similar to this one England Hallmarks Vintage Oval Brilliant Diamond Engagement Ring 1.32ct M/VS1 (eragem.com)

Excellent questions @RoseCurry , you've given me a lot to think about!

England Hallmarks Vintage Oval Brilliant Diamond Engagement Ring 1.32ct M/VS1 GIA

This spectacular vintage English ring is centered with one (1) oval brilliant cut diamond weighing 1.32 carats and set into a four-prong setting. The shoulders of the ring are each accented with three (3), bezel set, round single cut diamonds. The ring...

I have both (not as a wedding band) and I think you should choose the Trinity ring for a wedding band. It's more comfortable to wear, very understated, and matches everything.

The Love ring is not as comfortable on the finger and it looks much more like a fashion accessory than a wedding band. Of course that's just my personal opinion... my brother and sil have the Love rings for their wedding bands and I think it looks lovely on them but it always makes me feel abit weird that my fashion ring is the same as their wedding ring if you know what I mean.

happylittlesloth · 24/10/2023 05:41

Thr first one looks much more everyday friendly

Sgtmajormummy · 24/10/2023 05:43

I had a three, now a four-ring Cartier style on my right ring finger. It has our names engraved inside each one. It signifies our family and has more importance to me than my engagement ring.
DH has a Bulgari style ring on the same finger made from his parents’ wedding rings.
Go with whatever has more meaning for you, OP.

RoseCurry · 24/10/2023 05:45

Loveband has an industrial masculine look about it.

Asiatoyork · 24/10/2023 07:28

I know I’m in the minority but I prefer the Love band. However, not sure that would go with the style of engagement ring you describe, so maybe the Trinity.

Totalwasteofpaper · 24/10/2023 07:31

Trinity.

Pro tip: If you want to wear the engagement and wedding band together make sure they are the same carat. If not one will wear the other away. Lower carat will wear on higher carat.

lenalove · 24/10/2023 11:06

I have the Trinity ring (wedding present from my parents, worn on middle finger) and I absolutely love it. I never take it off, and the mixed metals mean it ties together whatever other jewellery you're wearing.

Covetthee · 24/10/2023 12:10

i know you said you don’t want suggestions but the trinity with the stone setting is also beautiful and works great as a wedding band.

regularmumnotacoolmum · 24/10/2023 12:15

I have the trinity and absolutely love it. I like that it's understated and timeless. X

geoger · 24/10/2023 12:20

I have the Love but don’t wear it as a wedding ring (have a different brand for that) I don’t really wear it anymore because (dare I say it) I think it looks a bit tacky now.
the Trinity is lovely but I’m not sure if it’ll go with your engagement ring
i know you don’t want to know about other brands but Piaget (and Bulgari) have some beautiful rings -DH and I have matching bands and they really are timeless classics

Saggypants · 24/10/2023 12:21

That is very beautiful @Covetthee but unfortunately only the plain bands are in budget.

OP posts:
IDoNotMoisturise · 24/10/2023 12:21

I do not like either but the flat looking bands are very uncomfortable to wear, no way could I wear one as a wedding ring, they have sharp edges

EmmaGrundyForPM · 24/10/2023 12:21

Asking on here will only tell you what people on here like, not what you like.

Get a coin. Toss it.

Heads is Ring 1
Tails is Ring 2

By the time it lands, you'll know which one you want

Chewbecca · 24/10/2023 12:21

The symbols on the Love band look like No Entry signs to me so that puts me off. I really like the trinity but I don’t think it works well with an engagement ring? I would have that on the other hand.

SoddingWeddings · 24/10/2023 12:25

Trinity - it's absolutely lovely and would look good with that style of engagement ring.

I'm really not sure about the screw head look of the markings on the Love band, that doesn't look like a wedding band to me! That said it's also a very stark contrast to the engagement ring, so if you like the serious contrast in style then go for it. Personally I prefer them to work together not look separate.

Whataretheodds · 24/10/2023 12:27

I agree the Love band doesn't look like a 4-figure piece of jewellery.

The Trinity's a Russian wedding ring style, pretty ubiquitous. To me the tricolour looks more everyday (more casual?). All gold would look more obviously wedding ring. Non- Cartier options will also be available, potentially including having one of the rings stone-set within your budget as you won't be paying for the Cartier name (which will hardly be visible). But maybe the branding is important to you.

ToniTTtopaz · 24/10/2023 12:30

I have the love band and I love it, i don't wear it as a wedding band, I wear it on the other hand, middle finger.

Witchesdontburn · 24/10/2023 12:31

I love the trinity, not sure either of them would compliment an engagement ring , but you can wear them on different fingers
