Can you tell I’ve had lip filler?

Basically what the subject asks!
I’ve had lip filler a few times over the last three years and I love the look. I’d like more done to go bigger but then sometimes I catch a glance of myself and think it looks really obvious.

I really want to go a bit bigger but I’m nervous. Can you tell I’ve had filler? Would I start to look weird with more?

Admittedly, I don't know what to look for but they look fine to me. 🤷‍♀️

theprincessthepea · 13/10/2023 09:09

It doesn’t look fake. But don’t go bigger. It will look unnatural and obvious.

Snippit · 13/10/2023 09:10

I think they look lovely. Like many others have said what’s the side profile like?

I’m fortunate that I have full lips, but it wasn’t fashionable when I was younger, I was teased mercilessly. Quite often called Mick Jagger, rubber lips, and some rather rude comments. Now I love them, but still wear subtle lipsticks so they don’t stand out too much.

For me it’s not just about the size it’s the shape, and your lips have a lovely natural shape. Leave them be and be happy.

I once saw two young ladies at the airport that had too much filler, honestly they looked like Donald Duck, it was hilarious, not a good look.

RavingStone · 13/10/2023 09:14

I wouldn't register them as filler if I walked past you on the street. But I would if you were a colleague or friend and I spent time looking at your face. They're not a bad example of lip fillers, but I do think that one can usually tell.

From the snippet of face in the picture, I bet you are extremely pretty. If I was your friend I'd want to gently suggest you didn't need any filler, let alone more. I know that's not what you were asking, but I can't pretend I'm not saddened by the things women have to do to feel ok in this life (I'm not immune from these pressures either).

madeinmanc · 13/10/2023 09:26

Yes, I can tell. The giveaway is the top lip which 99% of the time is smaller than the lower lip naturally. If you do go for more, don't fill your top lip any more IMO.

That's not a criticism, you look great and are very good looking!

MrsMarzetti · 13/10/2023 09:26

You look great. Any bigger and you will look cartoonish

BreatheAndFocus · 13/10/2023 09:27

Yes, I can tell. The lips look slightly bumpy and uneven. There’s also a hint of duckface and that swelled up look that makes it seem like you’ve have soreness or inflammation.

Less is more. Definitely don’t have them bigger.

lizzy8230 · 13/10/2023 09:30

The top lip gives it away, but it wouldn't be obvious just passing you in the street, it's only because you've specifically told us to look. Any bigger and it would be more obvious though.

I'm intrigued though... I imagine your lips looked absolutely fine before! Did you not like your natural lips?

Mydogisamentalist · 13/10/2023 09:38

It’s not that I didn’t like them natural as such. The actual shape was fine but my top lip was way smaller than my bottom lip and while it looked fine with lipstick… without I felt like I had very little upper lip. I’ll attach a picture.

Also I’ve never really been able to leave myself alone! I’ve never been able to leave my hair alone. I’ve always liked messing around with different eye shadows/make up and don’t get me started on the tattoos.

Can definitely tell. The line on the upper lip gives it away every time.

EllaPaella · 13/10/2023 09:39

Your natural lips are gorgeous

GingerIsBest · 13/10/2023 09:52

All these people who claim it's obvious -I think that's because you've got a close up of your lips and are asking the question! Grin In the "wild" as it were, I don't think it would be massively obvious - a few people might notice or wonder, but not in a particularly hardcore way. BUT, your lips are definitely at the absolute limit of what could ever be considered natural and to go for any more would be crazy.

madeinmanc · 13/10/2023 09:58

Yeah, you look good but as everyone is saying don't take it further.

LaurieStrode · 13/10/2023 10:00

"Also I’ve never really been able to leave myself alone! "

Why do you think you aren't good enough as you are?

Gowlett · 13/10/2023 10:07

It was terrible what happened to Lesley Ash.
I also wish that Mel B could reverse her eye job.

But aesthetics is such big business nowadays.
If it makes people happy, then fair enough.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 13/10/2023 10:11

I can tell you’ve had filler but to be honest I probably wouldn’t notice unless you told me.

It looks absolutely fine as it is, natural.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 13/10/2023 10:13

EllaPaella · 13/10/2023 09:39

Your natural lips are gorgeous

Agreed, natural lips are gorgeous, remind me of the Geisha girl lips in a good way. Your new lips look generic to me, as in anyone could have them.

VineRipened · 13/10/2023 10:18

Yes, I can tell, no doubt about it.

Looks good now.

Definitely don’t go further, IMO, or you will cross over into (IMHO) unnatural and ridiculous. But your choice, people can. Look how they like to look.

RedSledgeEater · 13/10/2023 10:21

I think both versions look lovely. You haven't over done the filler, but I would be wary about going bigger.

BTW it's completely normal to have a top lip that is smaller than your bottom lip. I would say that is more common (pre filler) than 2 lips of even size... I'm saying this as someone who is very anti-filler (and semi-permanent makeup etc) due to how it mostly makes people look odd.

Maddy70 · 13/10/2023 10:23

I wouldn't go bigger. I think it looks great right now

sHREDDIES19 · 13/10/2023 10:23

To be honest the tell tale signs are always there on the profile. Go any bigger and it'll be more noticeable. The chances are people know it's fake anyway so if you like them bigger does it matter what people think?

Bananabreadandstrawberries · 13/10/2023 10:43

Hiya, sorry, it looks obvious due to upper lip line migration.

Cockmigrant · 13/10/2023 10:49

I think they currently look borderline - as in "Has she had filler or not?" rather than "She's definitely had filler".
I don't think you should have any more.

duchiebun · 13/10/2023 10:52

I have been accused of lip filler before from photos but never in person & I do think it’s much easier to tell in person

RavingStone · 13/10/2023 11:11

Oh your natural lips are lovely.

Personally I see surgical enhancements as quite different from hair dye, piercing and tattoos.

Surgery always seems to be about making women look like a generic standard of woman. It used to be big tits. Now it's big lips. And we must never age. Regardless of people's individual reasons, the standard is driven by patriarchal media and porn. There's something quite brutal about it too. Breasts and lips being sensitive, sometimes sexual and sometimes nurturing areas of the body.

Playing with your own canvas (hair and skin) with dyes and tattoos and piercings seems more creative and celebratory of one's own self, if that makes sense? There seems to be more self ownership there.
