…..a “Rains” rain jacket.

It was the first rainy autumnal feeling day this season and almost every adult was wearing a Rains rain coat, including me.

I mean I didn’t buy it to be ‘radical’ or ‘different’ - but I didn’t realise they were such a thing?! Like a uniform. Made me laugh a bit.

Is it the same in other places?

I’m in an affluent town commuter distance from London.

I've heard of them and seen a Rains store in Copenhagen, but they're v expensive. The trousers look fairly ridiculous to me, but I don't mind the coats. I've an M&S version that I got in the sale for £35!

But we're living during a time when crocs are lusted after (well they are by my kids anyway!) so clearly anything goes.

They're practical, sometimes that's what you need!

I wore my Rains coat at a very wet event in July this year and got pretty soggy as the rain just came through the stitches in the single layer of coat, especially around my middle as it has a belt. It’s fine for my normal life but not for actually being out in the rain for long.

I'm heading for three years in my weird fish coat, same cut as the hip length one but in a brighter colour

I had to google because everyone else did - guess I am their target market (sheep).

The coats are fine but I think I might have actual nightmares about the modelling, the spinning ones especially!

They had a big sale on Rains stuff on brand alley last week, I nearly bought one but I wanted something that was a bit more of a technical fabric like goretex. The rains jackets were a bargain thought so that's probably why everyone bought one.
