@dudsville a little while ago I posted about tearing my pebble boat neck linen dress. I had Toast repair it and completely forgot to take a photo and post it here before packing it away for AW. It was an incredible repair - a patch of fabric taken from one of the inside (waist) packets, and stitched with matching thread. I love it even more now.

dudsville · 25/10/2023 19:55

Aha, that was you @PretLea! I was really interested in that repair but couldn't for the life of me remember enough to reference it, I felt silly posting "didn't someone rip something" 😂. That sounds like a very smart repair... and I'm still eyeing up getting that dress for myself.

dudsville · 25/10/2023 20:07

Is anyone else struggling with the transition to autumnal clothes? I keep feeling bulky, missing the sleeker neatness of summer clothes.

And on another topic, I chuckled to myself today having hit a new high point with toast. As it's all I wear now this was inevitable - I gave my dog a bath whilst wearing the mint tank and the Japanese trousers. I guess I'll soon be foraging for mushrooms (washing the car) in my landscape dress and thinking nothing of it. 😂

faustina · 25/10/2023 20:18

@dudsville - that is totally me too! I wonder if it's worse this year because it was so warm for so long?

I have two beautiful and as yet unworn cord jackets in my wardrobe and I still can't work out how to make them work with my other clothes

Thanks for all the good lucks re the linen robe. I will proudly display it on here when it's done

OftenOrange · 25/10/2023 21:34

Good luck with the repairs @Dee1224 @faustina I hope they both bring joy and longevity to your treasured items.
I’m here wearing my first edition repaired Toast shoulder poncho , very grateful to them . I could have done it myself but it would have been nowhere as neat.
@dudsville Hope you get some Autumn inspiration soon ,
otherwise you may be very chilly !
I find colour is what gets me looking forward to cosying up in knitwear and boots : Firewood, Pear , Citrus woollens and the Toast socks are the best
@faustina I hope you get iinspired to wear those C ord jackets , perfect for now. I regret not pouncing on one in the sale but have my trusty Folk one which is still going strong .

ToastCosILoveIt · 25/10/2023 21:36

I am struggling with autumn wear too. I have had to travel (within UK) for my new job and totally undercooked the layering as it is chilly here. I had to pop to M and S and buy a Boucle wrap to wear over my Toast dresses in the office.

The V Neck Garden Print dress had its first outing today and felt fab. I am away for four working days and bought three Toast dresses and one (nice) M and S one. Now I have met colleagues I might step up the creative dressing for my next trip down here. I will definitely wear my DM boots with dresses: wasn’t sure if that would be an okay look for the office but have decided it will be.

Thanks @dudsville, @ilovecherries and @OftenOrange I will see if I can post a pic showing the repair when it arrives back.

ScottishMouse · 26/10/2023 07:14

It’s getting chilly here and I want to wear my lovely Toast dresses through winter. I cannot abide tights, and struggle even with leggings (due to a rare skin condition). Can anyone suggest some leggings that are either mostly cotton or mostly wool, not too tight, not too thick, preferably come in charcoal grey or dark navy rather than black, and aren’t sports leggings. I don’t mind paying for quality and comfort. I see MamaOwl have some lovely looking wool mix ones, though mostly in other colours. Thanks!

dudsville · 26/10/2023 07:22

That sounds tricky to navigate @ScottishMouse. What is it about tights, the foot? This wouldn't work for all dresses, but could you go for a look that toast sometimes do of the trousers under the dress? You could get a few lovely cropped cotton wool versions.

That garden print dress is really pretty @ToastCosILoveIt!

Bigmousestrikesagain · 26/10/2023 08:00

Hello lovely people

I often browse this thread and love seeing all your outfits and reading the discussions! As a short narrow hourglass blonde however much as I love them I never seem to be able to wear toast clothes so I admire from afar.

HOWEVER I am completely in love - some might say obsessed - with the blue velvet pleated skirt in this winter’s collection. I love a full skirt and usually suit them. I just wondered if anyone had seen it in person or could give an idea on sizing? I’m a 10-12 - small waist but big hips ( hence looking best in full skirts!). Only 5’3 though. Many thanks!

ScottishMouse · 26/10/2023 08:10

Thanks @dudsville trousers underneath do not work for me as I am very short. I cannot stand the foot part of tights, but it is also the fabric content of most. So footless ones might work depending on fabric, but not ones that are primarily nylon.

Snowyowl78 · 26/10/2023 09:05

@Bigmousestrikesagain i don’t know about the skirt but I am same height as you and all my clothes are toast! Got for it!

Bigmousestrikesagain · 26/10/2023 09:07

Thanks @Snowyowl78 - I think I might. Even though I suspect the velvet isn’t that practical. I also love the cord skirts but sadly not colours that work for me

ScottishMouse · 26/10/2023 09:29

Ooh thanks @faustina , will take a look at those.

clowniform · 26/10/2023 09:44

@ScottishMouse how about these from Falke? (I love the tights version in the same fabric, wash and last super well)

Softmerino Women Leggings

ScottishMouse · 26/10/2023 09:47

Thanks @ilovecherries and @clowniform , these look like good options. I love the Falke softmerino socks, and knew they did tights, but not leggings.

clowniform · 26/10/2023 09:54

You are all too busy and chatty for me to keep up with! Definitely peak mushroom season 😉
Happy belated birthday to @Saurus72 sounds like an amazing day and gorgeous presents! Loving the details of @ToastCosILoveIt new work outfits and @dudsville 's ...dog-bathing ones hehe
I have been shopping too much (hence trying to stay off here) but mostly non-Toast. Though if my skin were less stupidly sensitive I would definitely have come home with the new green Bohus-ish yoke jumper last week. I also thought the velvet jumpsuits were beautiful (fabric and cut) but I can't do jumpsuits and am also cheap about formal wear.
Instead I ended up at Liberty like @Noeggsontoast and got some jewellery and ridiculous even by my standards YMC clown cords.

Also quadding with ToastCos, @mizu @OftenOrange in acquiring a new Kate Sheridan conker bag!

If anyone's in London this weekend, there's a Studio Nicholson sample sale at Music Room (2 mins from Toast Mayfair).

@ScottishMouse I love the falke tights. Very comfortable. I can’t bear itchy tights.

clowniform · 26/10/2023 10:06

Great to hear repair updates @Dee1224 and @faustina ! Faustina you must post the results of the sleeve, we will help decode any potential passive aggressive messages encoded within 😁(still think the 'repair' should consist of an entire new robe and posh food hamper and abject apologies....)

The latest live left me obsessed with the colour combo of the last outfit (chartreuse dungarees, light jumper, beige herringbone coat). My winter wardrobe could definitely do with some paler shades! Inspired to actually order the painterly skirt to wear now over tights rather than waiting on a sale/next summer.

OftenOrange · 26/10/2023 10:30

@clowniform I had been considering the Studio Nicholson sale ,but as a long time M Howell sample sale addict I’ve finally realised that 80% of what I’ve bought there is never quite right . It’s the snap decisions that I hate …compared to a nice long online Toast sale !
PS Anyone else with Sale withdrawal symptoms ?

OftenOrange · 26/10/2023 10:41

Post just now , Kate Sheridan Conker Bag
So lovely , and so practical and it smells divine !

Toasties moving into autumn and dusting off the mothballed knits (or buying new ones)
clowniform · 26/10/2023 10:43

@OftenOrange Hmm it does sound sensible to avoid in that case! For me even at sample sale prices MH isn't an impulse purchase so I will leave stuff that's 99% perfect behind and rarely regret it.
Looking through my emails there was a Toast sale late last November, hopefully we will get one soon!
