@Stravaig mine are a S - I'm 10-12 with quite a long body..... I wear them under dresses though and wouldn't feel comfortable wearing them just on their own as the S is quite fitted on me.

OftenOrange · 21/10/2023 21:57

@Stravaig I’m usually 8 Toast tops, took M , they aren’t very fitted on me .

Stravaig · 21/10/2023 22:43

@mizu @OftenOrange Thank you both, I shall continue swithering!

Countmeout · 22/10/2023 09:21

Lovely workshop in email today. Unfortunately I’m not in London until the beginning of December. Hope some of you enjoy it.

PretLea · 22/10/2023 10:28

@Countmeout I just clicked the link to register and it’s sold out - so sad!

Noeggsontoast · 22/10/2023 10:32

@faustina 34 I also wear as perfume too along with Do Son, which I also have in the refillable compact. So great to pop in a bag or pocket. I must try that candle and will pop it on my list for Xmas.

@dudsville yes the coat was a little pick me up. So soft but warm and not heavy. I dislike coats that make me feel like I'm wearing lead.

@Dee1224 thank you - days are very variable

@Countmeout thankfully water came back last night. DH had tried to buy some yesterday but of course empty shelves everywhere.

@Stravaig agree - a good coat in winter is an entire outfit. My mum always had a thing about having a range of coats. I still have one of her coats from Droopy and Brown which I can't part with.

I'd noticed when trying to catch up on the chat the talk re the Seasalt asphodel cords. I have them in green and blue - they're a dupe of my Ashley jeans which I love and so comfy to wear. I love them and highly recommend.

@OftenOrange Ooh thanks for posting, it sounds like there are some beautiful pieces in the new drop. I’m looking for a Christmas party dress - my first party is in November (OH work being cheap and not wanting to pay December prices 🙄) so I need to get a move on.

Has anyone tried this dress? If there’s nothing in the new drop I might go for this - I’ve got some sparkly boots I could wear with it or maybe some silver stilettos to dress it up. I’m quite reluctant to buy something that isn’t really versatile and this looks like it could be.

I have that dress, it’s a beautiful fit, drapes lovely, it’s such an easy wear…

Dee1224 · 22/10/2023 22:42

I would have liked to go to the Toast event but Thursday morning, (such a weird time), is a work day for me!

..but it is dry clean. Worth remembering if it bothers you. I love it in the green but that aspects puts me right off.

Stravaig · 22/10/2023 23:37

Just watched the latest Live.

Enjoyed the random shopper in the background, I like to think it was someone here!

Otherwise I mostly 🤨😫😠🤯 at the screen. Laughed aloud at one point 😬.

Open swingy 'winter' jumper hems are draughty! (As are wide cuffs).

Wool cotton herringbone trousers looked nice, shame about the nappy crotch.

The green cardi and hood are indeed gorgeous, but. they. are. cotton!! The cardi especially makes me wistful. I had something similar back in the 90's, with wee patch pockets and a collar, however it was pure wool. It was very me and much admired, not a usual combination.

The boiled wool trousers look like both waistband and crotch are in sane places, but ofc the bleepity cropped legs. That said, I am short-legged, so they might be okay.

Love the colour of the green jumper hanging on the wall! Dare I look up the fibre composition?

Does anyone else get distracted scrutinising the backdrop clothes then have to rewatch for the actual outfits?

No that doesn’t bother me at all ..

I’m curious - does it not bother you because you are willing to wash things even with a dry clean label (which is what I tend to do but always with some trepidation!). Or are you confidently not messy (I’m not!) Or do you not mind dry cleaning (I don’t think I’ve ever in my life been in a dry cleaner which probably makes me a right mucky pup!)

I’m not especially messy, but I’m also happy to hand wash cupro, I tend to wear things and not instantly wash unless obviously dirty, I always wear a vest under my clothes, so that catches most things, I wash wool items once a worn season by hand, so cupro gets a similar treatment (I don’t wear as often though).

Countmeout · 23/10/2023 10:20

It’s the same material as the cupro skirt from a couple of seasons ago. I think someone said they washed it although I haven’t yet as mines not dirty.

I do like a bit of cotton in a Woolie @Stravaig . Less likely to ball.

OftenOrange · 23/10/2023 16:54

@Countmeout I washed the cupro skirt , it came up as good as new.
I don’t think it advised dry clean for the skirt though .

OftenOrange · 23/10/2023 17:38

I’m thrilled with the Navy Funnel Neck Jacket , it’s such an elevated modern classic , and I’m reminded how much I love minimal understated pieces.
On the navy theme I just bought the Buttoned Alpaca Tank, rather a steep price to swallow but thought I’d just see how it may look with my other stuff.
What a revelation, this could be a pivotal piece for me as it brings many of my old white shirts into line with the modern layered look .
Looks great the Emma t shirt too .
The Alpaca blend is truly cosy so it makes wearing shirts in Winter possible.

Saurus72 · 23/10/2023 18:00

Wow this thread is moving so quickly! I’ve had a very Toasty few days - it was a big (big…😬🙄😵‍💫) birthday for me so lovely OH arranged a gorgeous weekend in Somerset. Obviously this included a detour to Shepton Mallet. They had quite a lot of stock but nothing that I wanted in the right size. So as per usual, I ended up in the normal full priced shop section and bought the tiered crinkle dress in the dark blue - I tried the green too but it wasn’t a good shade for me, beautiful though. The sizing is definitely ‘old’ - I bought a medium but if I had a flatter chest the small would have been perfect. I wore it out to dinner on Saturday and it was just perfect, very glad I bought it. I’m not sure what I’ll do re: dry cleaning because I don’t believe in it really. I imagine if I wash it the slight crinkled effect will drop out which wouldn’t be a disaster.

OH bought me these lovely Chie Mihara boots They had size 5 which fitted like a glove - I’m usually a 6. Not sure if her boots always come up bigger as I’ve never had such lovely shoes before!

My lovely family bought me Toast gift vouchers so I’ve ordered the olive cashmere wool wrap and some chup fair isle socks. I think I’m done for a while now!

@Saurus72 What a great birthday , what a lovely family you have !
I have those boots , they are so soft and special, and the dress is stunning .
It’s fun that you could christen it straight away , always a good sign.
I’d hoped to try it in store but my local Toast seems to be concentrating on Menswear most things are out of stock 😢

Countmeout · 23/10/2023 18:52

Happy birthday @Saurus72 . Sounds lovely. Beautiful boots.

That alpaca tank is very attractive @OftenOrange . I think it could be very versatile with so many things it would go with.

I checked my cupro skirt’s washing instructions. It does say iron on the wrong side. Maybe people don’t read the label and that’s why they’ve said dry clean .

My quilted cotton linen jacket arrived today. It’s old sizing. Very generous, I knew the minute I lifted the smaller one out of the package. Very understated. Goes with so much. Not overly padded. The sleeves are quite wide, overall gives an oriental vibe. I will keep it simply because it goes with so much. I can fit a cashmere jumper under it. Useful for layering under a coat possibly. It’s dry clean on the label, will decide what to do once it’s filthy. I do think they could have made it with 4 buttons as like the jersey top/jacket the bust area would benefit from a different placement of buttons. Not sure what their objection to using an extra button is.

dudsville · 23/10/2023 20:00

Happy birthday @Saurus72 🥳, sounds like a great day out and some amazing lovely new things! I'm intrigued why you don't believe in dry cleaning because I'm suspicious of it but don't know why. I've just managed life without it.

@OftenOrange, I'm constantly wanting a tank but can't work them. Would love to see how you wear it at some point.

I have no toast news. I finally got to wear my black and ecru dog tooth cotton wool trousers today, but i didn't get the outfit quite right as the weather confused me. I may try them again tomorrow.

faustina · 23/10/2023 20:16

@Saurus72 - very happy birthday! Those boots are amazing and the leather looks brilliantly soft too. I bet they will look wonderful with all your dresses!

About my getting something mended attempt last week: I had a reply to my email and they're arranging to pick up my linen robe and will get it fixed in Harrogate for free because I told them how rubbish my visit had been to my local store.

I also told them how shocked I'd been to read how many other of you had had similar not great experiences at Toast stores and I suggested they read your accounts. So I think they did, and they said they would investigate and address, which is nice to know - I hope it's been useful to them. I'd certainly want to know if it were me

I won't go back to my local store, but I'm more hopeful of going to another one - birthday trip still unachieved as we had no trains yesterday because of flooding - rescheduled for Friday!

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 23/10/2023 20:18

Happy birthday @Saurus72 what a lovely OH you have.

Great jacket @Countmeout nuisance about the dry cleaning, do you think it’s the wadding that would cause problems on washing?

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 23/10/2023 20:24

@faustina good response from Toast, let’s hope they do some training in store, it’s to their own advantage surely.

We haven’t had any trains in this area of Norfolk for most of the weekend, and I understand even the major roads have had flooding problems.

Hopefully you will get your birthday trip on Friday and get some lovely things.

faustina · 23/10/2023 20:29

@Theteapotsbrokenspout - thank you! Yes the line was flooded until yesterday afternoon, but I think back to normal now. Hope your area is too!
