I usually spend a day listing on EBay, what with cleaning, photos and the rest.
Then I leave them indefinitely and find that after a couple of months most have sold and the ££ have mounted up .

I’ve had a recent non payer after I accepted an offer , I have just blocked her .
Its a big hassle but aI love getting shot of things that I neither wear nor love.

Noodle421 · 20/10/2023 21:17

@OftenOrange i agree, I can’t quite work out why some combinations work and others don’t or why they work on some people and not others. I guess it’s all to do with height, length of legs, calf size, style of ankle boot - so much to think about 😆 I can’t seem to work it out, I just know when I like the look on other people. This style thing doesn’t come easy to me !

Why can’t you wear the miniskirt and black boots look? With tights and a lovely jumper perhaps. Could look great

Noodle421 · 20/10/2023 21:21

@OftenOrange PS - I thought you looked fab in the Fracap green boots and dress in a photo you previously posted. That combination really worked. I’ve seen staff at Toast wear them with dresses and trousers they seem to look good with everything. Surprisingly versatile.

OftenOrange · 21/10/2023 08:13

@Noodle421 I can only admire the boots and miniskirt on others now.
I used to love it on myself because I thought my legs were my best bit , but going down the path of life has changed that !
Especially the black tights , skinny legs look the worst in those, 😌 especially above the knee !
I’m of a age now when I look at the young and admire their style , but every so often , when it’s a retro style I wore in the day I get a twinge of envy !

dudsville · 21/10/2023 08:27

Just catching up on here, the chat about the selling on of things leaves me cold!

I just watched the layering video. I forget her name now but she makes everything look good and I wish they used people like her to model on line. It's not uncommon for me to find I really don't like the look of a thing on line and then she pops it on and I see it in a different light.

So the video did its job and got me scrolling back into the current offerings. Anyone else get irrationally irritated by customer reviews along the lines of "the 12 was too roomy but the 10 too tight across the chest".... yes, but what size are you normally???? Are you busty? Hippy? Without that your feedback gives me nothing!
(I might need another pot of tea)

Stravaig · 21/10/2023 08:50

@dudsville Drives me nuts! Back in the day I used to put body and garment measurements in all my reviews, hoping Toast and everyone else would take the hint. Zero effect 🤣.

Stravaig · 21/10/2023 08:57

@Theteapotsbrokenspout Bit skimpy there on the wellies, must be huge gaps which need to be filled! (My feel-most-myself footwear :)

ilovecherries · 21/10/2023 09:14

I’m very irritated by the quality of reviews sometimes too. I thought I was just being a grumpy old woman. I don’t go a lot of reviews but when I do, I actually try to make them useful.

OftenOrange · 21/10/2023 09:29

Thank you for my two last purchases !
Kate Sheridan Scout Bag 20 % off thanks to @ToastCosILoveIt
Toast Mustard Glitter socks …back on EBay , I can’t remember who posted originally

@dudsville Yes those reviews are meaningless.
I never get asked to review these days, can’t figure why. I always gave good reviews with the occasional returned because of size .

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 21/10/2023 09:47

@Stravaig @faustina looking at it percentage wise it’s only a 10% increase if I buy a pair of blundstones - and that’s not even counting the wellies.

Today I’m wearing my chocolate fracap hiker boots round the house to break them in, bought in the sale and not worn yet.

My thoughts exactly! With tights or even leggings for extra coverage. I've recently gone back to doing this! I'm 55. I think you can make it work with a gorgeous sloppy jumper over the top! A sort of 'grown up' version. My legs are not too bad.

clowniform · 21/10/2023 12:08

Thought I'd catch up with this rollercoaster of a thread before going down the shops incl. Toast to see new stuff in person but there's too much! Belated birthday 🍰🍷💐🎁 to @faustina and virtual hissing in direction of Toast Cantab. and on behalf of everyone else who has had poor experiences.

Congrats to @ToastCosILoveIt on new job and purchases!

@Stravaig 😆has no-one suggestted Freakishly Large Avocado Pit for the veg juggler's Mystery Sphere? T courting the millennial market.

Still not on board with Toast ReGrift but it's given me a kick up the bum to do some sorting and selling elsewhere later this weekend. Though this also means I spotted the weird-pink-but-goes-with-everything trousers in the current collection up on ebay for a much lower price. Always a bit confused when this happens -- is it just people who miss the return window? Experience a total style 180 within weeks of buying something? Discover item is haunted?

@clowniform oooh, do let us know how you get on in the shop and any items that stand out for you if you get a moment.

I’m very happy with my walnut jacket. Lovely fit and colour and gives a cheering boost on a dull day. I’m deciding colour is definitely the way forward on damp miserable days. It’s interesting how wearing the harissa cardigan can alter my mood. I’m trying to pay much more attention to how clothes make me ‘feel’ when I put them on. Maybe obvious to some but it’s not something I paid too much attention to in the past. I now try and match my clothes to the way I feel when I wake up in the morning instead of reaching for
whatever comes to hand first. It makes me feel more positive at the start of the day and it helps me to get more wear out of all
my clothes. I’m quite surprised what a difference this can make.

Noeggsontoast · 21/10/2023 14:26

Hello all finally rejoining the thread since August when I fell off. Not been too well so haven't felt up to much. Just on an endless carousel of consultant appointments and drug regimes. Today is a lighter day for me so felt up to popping back on to say hi.

@faustina happy belated birthday. I hope you get to enjoy a lovely Diptyque treat. My favourite candle is no.34.

@ToastCosILoveIt good luck for Monday. You have a lovely haul there.

@clowniform enjoy your shopping trip

I finally managed to catch up with the autumn winter Toast collection. The green blouse and the tie neck cardigan are the only items on my wish list currently and I haven't bought any Toast except the abstract Bryn dress when it came out. I love the green blouse with the navy silk velvet jumpsuit but can't really see me getting much wear from it.

I have treated myself to a coat because an offer arose that was too good to pass up at Liberty. A navy wool collarless Max Mara coat with sort of kimono style sleeves. I love a collarless coat as I find scarves sit so much nicer and you can do a whole variety of knotting styles. It was £100 off every £300 spent, then I had Liberty loyalty and beauty drop vouchers which in total gave me 60% off the coat. it will last me forever.

I hope everyone is ok after this terrible storm. We've been lucky really - just haven't had water for 19 hours so far, it could been much much worse.

faustina · 21/10/2023 15:28

@Noeggsontoast - I'm so sorry to hear you haven't been well, but that maxmara coat will hopefully make you feel a bit better (very good bargain too!)

I wear 34 as my scent - it's amazing isn't it? They do a little (very tactile) compact with it in a solid perfume which you can buy refills for. That would also make you feel much much better!

My favourite candle is the bois cire, which instantly makes your house smell like you waxed all the floors.

The flooding everywhere has been terrible, and no trains here today because of it, so tomorrow's London trip is still theoretical, but I still have my fingers crossed

@OftenOrange it was Dee who mentioned the ebay glitter socks and me who bought them - haven't worn yet, but they look lovely. Did you get some too?

dudsville · 21/10/2023 17:42

I'm sorry to hear things have been so tough @Noeggsontoast. Hope getting such a good deal on a great coat gives your spirits a boost.

That sounds like a really nice way to get dressed @Noodle421 . I'm not sure how to do that but I'm going to give it a try! Although it happens much, much less, i still have some days where i seem to empty my wardrobe trying to work out what to wear.

"Discover item is haunted?" 🤣@clowniform

mizu · 21/10/2023 17:49

@OftenOrange which colour did you go for? I was all for the black until I saw the deep conker colour (which weirdly makes me think of a similar sort of bag my grandpa used to have)! and now I am torn.

Dee1224 · 21/10/2023 18:10

Glad you are feeling a bit better @Noeggsontoast !

So who has bought the newly appeared glittery socks?

I was contemplating a totally unnecessary second pair, but have been saved as they have gone 🤣

Countmeout · 21/10/2023 18:17

The coat sounds like a lovely pick me up @Noeggsontoast . Also hope your water comes back soon.

I got the socks @Dee1224 . I don’t have a pair in that colour so thought why not?

Dee1224 · 21/10/2023 18:18

You, me and @faustina are now sock triplets @Countmeout ! I hope you like them as much as I do!

OftenOrange · 21/10/2023 18:43

@mizu I went for Conker , I love very dark brown . I’d love a pale oatmeal coloured version for Summer !
I think it may have been you who recommended Uniglo ribbed superfine merino jumpers ?
Currently in the bright green with T dungarees abd bought the purple today ( not really my best colour but so pretty) in polo necks , great value and nice snug neck.
I hate a flaccid polo neck 😃
@Dee1224 I received the glitter socks today and am very pleased 😀

Dee1224 · 21/10/2023 18:54

Ooh, Toast quads @OftenOrange !

mizu · 21/10/2023 19:07

@OftenOrange no one likes a flaccid polo neck Grin. They are great, aren't they? I have the olive and the black and may purchase another.

Yes, the conker colour is gorgeous. I must make a decision soon!

lordloveadog · 21/10/2023 20:52

Showed youngest of my sons the men's coats yesterday in course of style discussion.

'But why is he holding that ball thing? And that one, what vegetable even is that? And why is he stepping on that??'

Couldn't get to coats at all

Stravaig · 21/10/2023 21:19

@lordloveadog That's a fine discerning mind you're nurturing there 🤣

@OftenOrange @mizu Those Uniqlo extra fine merino turtlenecks look so snuggly! Any surprises with the sizing? The models seem to be wearing S not the usual model XS, so thinking I should size up too.

Lovely to see you @Noeggsontoast - your Max Mara coat sounds fantabulous. I always feel I can take on the world when I have just the right coat.

@clowniform 🤣 Perhaps that's why the niggling feeling that I should know what it is ...
