Happy Birthday @Saurus72 ! You have been throughly spoiled and chosen some lovely pieces.

First day in my new job and wore my Toast Tie Waist Geometric Print Dress with some square toed pleated Mary Jane’s shoes from Cos. It all felt great. I am going to wear another Toast dress tomorrow. It is so nice to have a good Toast wardrobe to call on when you need to boost your confidence.

Happy Birthday @Saurus72 - good gift choices.

@faustina - glad Toast head office responded and hope your beloved robe is nicely restored.

Stoic123 · 23/10/2023 21:19

@ToastCosILoveIt - Congratulations on your first day in job!

Saurus72 · 23/10/2023 22:08

Thanks for the birthday wishes, I’m trying to be brave about the big number…

@OftenOrange Yes! Christened straight away so I know it’s a good one - we went to Osip for the tasting menu so the flowiness was essential. The boots really are beautifully soft. I think I may look at the Chie Muhara sandals next summer. I didn’t really appreciate how different the leather would feel.

@dudsville Well, dry cleaning seems a bit weird to me. I read an article about it once which described how your clothes go into the machine (?) with other peoples’ which just seemed not that hygienic. Plus, environmentally it’s not brilliant. Not sure, I just don’t think, on the odd occasion I’ve taken coats/tailoring to be dry cleaned, it feels really clean. But I am a bit of a hygiene freak.

@faustina Interesting to hear their response, I don’t doubt that working in retail rn is very hard work but I would imagine Toast customers to be among the nicest. Fingers crossed for a lovely day on Friday.

@ToastCosILoveIt Your outfit sounds fabulous, I’m really enjoying going into the office - it’s good putting an outfit together.

Dee1224 · 23/10/2023 23:48

Happy birthday @Saurus72
Well done on holding Toast to account @faustina

Noeggsontoast · 24/10/2023 05:28

@Saurus72 Happy birthday! What a lovely weekend - Fine dining and Toast - the perfect combo in my book. The dress and boots are both gorgeous. I'm quite taken by the velvet Chie Mahara sandals. And I'd be pleased to hear your thoughts on the Chup socks I have them on my Xmas wish list.

@faustina glad you're getting your repair sorted. Hopefully they take onboard your feedback. It's such a shame you now feel you can't go back to your local store.

@Stravaig I was distracted by the velvet jumpsuit with the green blouse. It was only when reading your post I realised that I'd missed seeing a few things that were tried on!

Re dry cleaning I only take coats or suits for dry cleaning. Anything else that says dry clean goes on a hand wash cycle in the machine. I've not had any disasters with this approach so far.....

dudsville · 24/10/2023 06:18

Wonderful choices for first days in your new job @ToastCosILoveIt !

That does sound gross @Saurus72 . For me it was the idea of a chemical wash, it feels, smells and looks nothing like a wash with soap and water! In addition to that, it's an added expense and another task to be done. No thanks!

Countmeout · 24/10/2023 07:14

Your outfits sound great for your new job @ToastCosILoveIt . It’s lovely to look forward to wearing something that makes you feel good every day.

@Theteapotsbrokenspout re the padding. It’s quite thin I think as the jacket is not bulky. I used to have a piece of wadding (lying about as you do - not a sewer) which I think may be similar. I looked up wadding online and they say you can wash a quilt made with polyester wadding but I wonder is that because it has stitching holding it in place whereas the jacket has a piece cut to fit the individual parts of the jacket . In any case it might be a nightmare to iron. Anyhow I’m not going to stress about cleaning it, I think spot cleaning might work for quite a while and then I’ll rethink. I’m just going to enjoy it.

I'm glad you’re getting your gown sorted @faustina .

I don’t share your optimism about Toast customers @Saurus72 . While we’re all lovely obviously I’m sure there’s quite a few who are nightmarish and entitled. Just as there are staff in shops who are as well.

Firesideknitting · 24/10/2023 11:50

Goodness, I’ve never had an issue with sizing up until now !! I bought the neat denim shirt dress last month, just gone to wear it today and it’s tight, the buttons gape. I’m a 12/14 only because of boobs have ballooned in the peri menopausal phase … I’ve toast clothes in 14 and a large that are too big !! Well thankfully I’ve just got in the 28day window, so it’s off back, not sure if I’ll buy the size up ! Maybe it’s just that one piece that’s got odd sizing ??

Brillenbar47 · 24/10/2023 13:23

@Firesideknitting I needed to size up in the "neat" cut too - I have it on the olive corduroy

OftenOrange · 24/10/2023 13:34

@ToastCosILoveIt What a perfect outfit for the new job, enough pzazz without being shouty , Toast can’t be bettered for that.
I do love that dress, the colours and cut

Anyone interested in the Alpaca Buttoned Sleevelss Knit…a new one in L on EBay with v low start price .

Countmeout · 24/10/2023 14:23

Forgot to mention , I see Uniform Research have the green coat .

PretLea · 24/10/2023 18:05

Thanks for mentioning @Countmeout - I’m having to hold out for a while and really hope it’ll come up in the Black Friday sale, if Uniform Research have one…

Happy belated @Saurus72! And may your new job be everything you hoped @ToastCosILoveIt.

I recently bought my DH and I some Toast wool jacquard socks and gosh they are beautifully warm. And such lovely colour ways.

mizu · 24/10/2023 18:11

SM doing a winter sample sale Friday 10 and Saturday 11 November.

Dee1224 · 24/10/2023 23:29

Aaargh, sample sale @mizu! I am going on Friday as we will be staying nearby. I was there a week after their last sample sale, (and the rails were bare), and am missing it again by two weeks😱

mizu · 25/10/2023 06:49

@Dee1224 I missed the last one too - a thing called work got in the way! - but did make what they called a small sample sale in 2022 and it was quite good.

I've sold a few things recently though and would like to go as my clothes rail is looking a bit bare and I love a sample sale 🥰

Snowyowl78 · 25/10/2023 09:43

My reworn stuff arrived, the velvet pinafore in Oil is perfect! I wouldn’t know it’s not new. Also the Pond is great condition but too small so have returned

Dee1224 · 25/10/2023 14:55

Big shout out today for great customer service from the Richmond shop.

I got a call today to say my repaired item is ready to collect.

Unfortunately, the store in question is two hours’ drive away for me due to traffic, so I only go once in a blue moon when picking up sister en route.

When I asked could they hold it as I didn’t know when I would be able to come over or send it, Zoe agreed to send it to me FOC.

Sounds silly, but things are a bit crappy here atm, and this unexpected kindness made me really happy!

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 25/10/2023 15:41

That's brilliant @Dee1224 well done to the Richmond store.

Hope things get a bit less crappy for you soon.

faustina · 25/10/2023 15:44

@Dee1224 - that is lovely of them - how kind!

My linen robe was collected today so I'm excited about what they plan to do - I said they could let their imaginations run wild with it. Hopefully they won't embroider 'horrible complainy customer' down the arm 😃

Dee1224 · 25/10/2023 15:51

🤣🤣🤣@faustina
Thanks @Theteapotsbrokenspout

Stoic123 · 25/10/2023 17:57

@faustina - 😂. Hope it turns out really well.

ilovecherries · 25/10/2023 19:13

That was quick, Faustina. Hope it’s beautiful and makes up for the horribleness.

ilovecherries · 25/10/2023 19:14

Sorry to hear life is crap Dee. And lovely when an unexpected kindness helps even just a little. xx

dudsville · 25/10/2023 19:38

I'm also sorry to hear things have been tough@Dee1224.

Also, I'm always curious to see toast repairs. I do my own but I like to be inspired if anyone cares to post their toast fixes!
