Are we going to buy or have we peaked?

@monpetitlapin the 24 days Clarins one looks really good and good value too! You get 10% with first order on Clarins website and they have a free gift on spend over £30. May well be cheaper elsewhere, I haven't looked. Also there might be cashback through some cashback websites?

I use Clarins regularly (my most favourite accessible brand) and I've tried lots of their products over the years. so there isn't an element of excitement for me, no surprise and no real need to stock up on anything at present. I had to dismiss it from my shortlist.
I would have absolutely loved it if this was around when I first started using Clarins. And I would be very happy to receive it as a surprise gift.

Tambatamba · 08/10/2023 04:41

Selfridges is back in stock for anyone who wants that one.

QueefofSheena · 08/10/2023 10:16

@monpetitlapin I just had a look at Clarins and added it to my basket. I signed up for emails and used code 'SUPERGIFT'. It appears to have given me the AC, a handbag essentials set and a day and night cream worth £49, along with 3 free samples, plus 10% off. So that's £121.50 in total. I'm sorely tempted!

clary · 08/10/2023 11:17

Oooh @QueefofSheena that's a good deal!! I say go for it <vicarious spending>

QueefofSheena · 08/10/2023 11:27

@clary I'm not sure if the GWP stacks with the other gift for spending over £90 but I'd rather have the day/night cream combo anyway out of the two. I'm sitting on my hands at the moment as I already have Liberty and I'm waiting to see if this years Flannels gets reduced. I'll leave my basket a day and see how it goes 😁

clary · 08/10/2023 11:32

Yeh I have Liberty and am trying to be relaxed. I had three ACs last year so I am deffo only getting another this year if it is an unbelievable bargain (like, rude to refuse, you know Grin)

monpetitlapin · 08/10/2023 11:54

@Branster I had no idea they did 2 different calendars, I had seen the £65 12 day one in Boots and had been wondering about getting it as I'm completely new to ACs but started looking at beauty ones after finding this amazing Disney calendar for DD (who will turn 2 soon) and DS (4) which has 24 storybooks that they can share for bedtime stories. I come and go from Clarins as a brand as I get a bit bored of them sometimes but I find myself wanting to try more of their products atm.

@QueefofSheena OMG that's a bargain! I really liked the look of the Elemis one but it's a big investment and none of their discounts/freebies apply to it.

Any thoughts on the Harvey Nichols ac? I didn’t buy one last year (not even M&S) so feel like splashing out.

I considered it but have ultimately ruled it out. Too many lip products, I've tried the Hourglass, AB, and Escentric Molecules products and don't particularly like any of them, and I don't live near a Harvey Nics so it's a pain to use the vouchers. But it's so individual, it might be the one for you.

I'd personally choose Harrods or F&M over HN, those are the two I'm stuck between. Struggling to decide if they're really worth the extra over JL - any thoughts on these ones?

chloechloe · 08/10/2023 18:39

Personally I don’t like the fact that the HN one has vouchers for treatments - you’d have to be sure you’d use them. It also has too much perfume in for my liking. But I know lots of posters are happy with trying new perfumes.

chloechloe · 08/10/2023 18:42

My above post was in response to @Belindabelle asking about the HN AC, the reply function didn’t work!

Emmmmz9 · 09/10/2023 07:27

@kerstina I am considering this for my 17yr old as a Christmas present. Does it look good please?

kerstina · 09/10/2023 08:32

Yes the looks fantastic beauty chest looks good but maybe a few too many anti ageing products for a 17 year old ? Have a watch of the video it’s quite a quick one . Diary of a beauty geek you tube .
How about the MAC advent one for a teen ? Lots of full size make up products .

kerstina · 09/10/2023 08:34

I think advent calenders make great Xmas presents .I got DS the asos grooming one .

kerstina · 09/10/2023 08:34

Last year .

Tambatamba · 09/10/2023 09:54

I bought Selfridges for my 19 year old dd for her birthday - she specifically requested it.

Emmmmz9 · 09/10/2023 11:39

@MavisMcMinty I’m looking at this year’s Benefit one for my 16yr old daughter as a Christmas pressie. Never used Benefit but heard so many good things

ferretface · 09/10/2023 12:33

Harvey Nichols is a great calendar (appealing to me as a perfume fan) but probably a bit above my willingness to pay.

Whenwillglorioussummercome · 09/10/2023 13:45

This weekend I successfully (worryingly effortlessly) filled last year's JL calendar with spares from years gone by for my daughter. So she's sorted now and will be thrilled.

Emmmmz9 · 09/10/2023 18:22

For 13 and 16 year old dd
Pretty little thing? Revolution? ASOS?
ideally a mix of makeup and age appropriate skin care

Pinenu · 09/10/2023 18:34

What was the general consensus on last year’s CB AC?

There’s someone at my sister’s work selling one and I think I’m tempted.

Pinenu · 09/10/2023 18:50

Sorry, I meant JL not CB.

But it might be irrelevant anyway as she has “replaced some items” 🤔 not sure I’m interested anymore.

I have CB this year. I love it - really happy with the contents. I didn't buy a luxury one last year though.
