Are we going to buy or have we peaked?

Only a £5 discount on JL for me too - strange that not all rewards members are being offered the same!

I’m still leaning towards Space NK and deliberating over whether to buy now at full price or wait for a potential discount/offer!

Space NK seems pretty decent. Would recommend.

Another76543 · 04/10/2023 12:25

The only one which tempts me this year is the John Lewis one, but only if there is a decent discount or GWP.

I think they will only discount if they aren't shifting?

Which with the COL crisis may be so.

As for me I'm buying several, picking what I want ( a few things) and shifting the rest to get my costs back
Hopefully end up with a good personal stash at minimal cost, dependent on what I can shift.

I see it as a little game to play at this time of year!

TheWeeDonkeyFella · 04/10/2023 13:26

Nuxe calender out at £82. I watched it last year to see if it was discounted but never saw it reduce, although a poster on one of the threads has said it was but I don't know when or on which site, I'm pretty sure it wasn't via the Nuxe site. Nuxe

I’ve been looking at the John Lewis calendar but without a discount I don’t feel like I can justify the cost TBH!!

i see boots have released there’s but to get the free product you have to wait until Friday. Not clear what that’s about. Maybe they are hoping they will have sold 10.000 by Friday so the offer no longer applies?

Re. Boots, I think it meant the first 10,000 people who purchased a calendar from when it went on sale (yesterday) will get the free product, but they won't find out if they are one of the 10k and if they have got the free product until Friday (6th). You have to have the Boots app downloaded to qualify as it will appear on there.

Ilikeviognier · 04/10/2023 15:05

@canwetalkaboutcake that’s not how I read it. It says the “offer” is available from 6 October, it doesn’t say anything about buying a calendar first and then seeing if you get a free gift?

My email said: "The first 10,000 people will receive a FREE Future Renew
product of their choice. You must have the Boots app downloaded and push notifications turned on to receive your alert on
the 6th October!
Don't miss out, go go go!"

So from that, I assumed it means the alert will appear on the app on 6th if you are one of the first 10k customers to have bought a calendar...

I signed up for the 1 day exclusive access, maybe you received a different email?

Ilikeviognier · 04/10/2023 15:12

No I got the same one - but it says “customers get a free future renewal product when they load offer to advantage card through the boots ap from 6 October”. I took that to mean you have to wait until 6 October to benefit. Either way it’s very unclear!

I see what you mean... very unclear with how they've worded it, but it seems very odd for them to encourage customers to wait until Friday to get a free gift, not exactly good marketing if so... the Ts and Cs say it's for the first 10k people who purchase a calendar so I think it does mean from the launch date and the free gift will appear on the app from the 6th. Maybe I'm wrong, who knows!
y.

Ilikeviognier · 04/10/2023 15:24

No I think you’re right tbh. Which is annoying as I was hanging on. Arghh.

Whydoiwearsomuchleopardprint · 04/10/2023 15:31

Have tried liberty, selfridges and space nk. For me by far the best was space nk, if I could justify spending 235 quid on a calendar then that would be the one for me!!!

namechange0998776554799000 · 04/10/2023 15:59

I'm having chemo which means I can't use most skincare, have no hair, can't taste anything edible and never go out anywhere. Oh, and have no money. I still want to buy an advent calendar though Grin I had Flannels last year which was excellent but I really can't justify any of the expensive ones this year. I think I'll have to go for M&S and just accept that some of the items will be put away for the future!

CorneliaStreet · 04/10/2023 16:11

@TheWeeDonkeyFella The Nuxe calendar was discounted last year, I think it was on Sephora.co.uk but it may have been Look Fantastic. I think it went down to around £50 and was still on there past the New Year sales. I was sorely tempted but didn’t get it in the end. Keep an eye on Escentual too, as they stock it and often have site wide 25% discounts (though would have to check that advents aren’t excluded). It’s 10% off on there at the moment.

Possimpible · 04/10/2023 16:31

@namechange0998776554799000 Ah sorry to hear that. If you like candles, Yankee do a candle one at a lower price point, although not sure if those scents would be a bit pungent. I also found this one which I could potentially be tempted by myself! Otherwise M&S sounds a great idea, treat yourself!

namechange0998776554799000 · 04/10/2023 16:35

Ah thank you @Possimpible I did think of a candle one but I'm generally too nauseous for anything strong smelling Sad

pinkchampagne1 · 04/10/2023 16:39

Oh sorry, I hadn’t realised the code was account specific. 😞
I have caved and ordered the JL calendar with the discount, but only as it was my birthday yesterday and DH said I could have it as a birthday present.

Ilikeviognier · 04/10/2023 17:52

@namechange0998776554799000 so sorry to hear this. I hope you’re managing ok🌺,

I’ve caved and ordered the boots no 7 lift and luminate it’s a range I like anyway. I may also get the m and s one which I ordered last year but never received as they lost it en route - but by the time this was confirmed it was out of stock :(

TheWeeDonkeyFella · 04/10/2023 18:01

Thanks @CorneliaStreet, I'll keep an eye out. Some of the products are a bit samey but would consider if it reduced. Although I also have a couple of flights next month so if any small sizes pop up in the onboard duty free offers I might do that instead.

MavisMcMinty · 04/10/2023 18:19

The M&S calendar - which I’ll get because it’s such a bargain - is it available in-store?

A little off topic, I applied and was sent one of these during my chemo (completed mid April). It was brilliant, I used everything, I found out about these by chance. You might want to apply for one as your extra advent calendar this year. Good luck with your treatment ❤️Little Lifts Chemo Box
