Are we going to buy or have we peaked?

Oh yes, I saw the Boots premium calendar. It does look good value. I am so undecided this year. I don’t wear much make up so would be looking more for nice skin care.
I was too keen with JL last year and ordered on release day. It then went down for Black Friday so I should have held off.

MavisMcMinty · 27/09/2023 16:55

The first AC I ever bought - or heard about - was the John Lewis one, probably in 2017, as that’s where my skincare addiction kicked off. it was because of an email JL sent me, I had a Partnership card, but even though I bought it and had that credit card for several years afterwards, they never emailed me again about the following years’ ACs. I wasn’t very impressed with it tbh, £175 for 25 identically-sized tiny drawers which meant they could only fit tiny sizes into them. Haven’t bought it since, mainly went for Glossybox and/or LF.

I am so excited about the Liberty one!!!!! I’ve gone from tepid disinterest to rip-it-open the moment it arrives!

kerstina · 27/09/2023 17:27

Well my MAC advent arrived today . On the whole pleased with it but the gold eye pencil is not working . Doesn’t show anything on the skin. Anyone else had this problem ? It seems faulty.

kerstina · 27/09/2023 17:29

Also mirror a bit unimpressive and they could have put a more exciting one in 24.

Stokey · 27/09/2023 20:17

I looked at Charlotte Tilbury and now it's following me around the internet. It's really not very good - £160 and only 2 full sizes.

Thanks @AprilLady yes I’m wondering if it’s worth the investment! It does look so beautiful…sigh!!

I can confirm that since I ordered the Vogue AC, I have been filled with an overwhelming sense that all is right with the world. If you think of it in terms of ‘cost per happiness thought’ it’s really very good value.

DarlingCoffee · 27/09/2023 20:34

Oh I think you might have sold it to me! It is such a splurge but it does look like it will be a lovely one to enjoy @WeAreBorg

MavisMcMinty · 27/09/2023 20:38

@WeAreBorg - that’s exactly how I feel after succumbing to the Liberty one today! It has transformed my mood! And it’s been dispatched already, so I have weeks and weeks of self-control ahead of me, but I know I can do it.

AprilLady · 27/09/2023 21:48

I’ve just had an email from Harrods. 10% off for Rewards members (free to join if you haven’t previously). I’ve just tried and it works on the advent calendar, so brings price down to £225 if anyone is interested.

BakeOffRewatch · 27/09/2023 21:52

If you’re waiting for something for a teen, or discount, or Janvent, I thought Oliver Bonas wellness calendar looked really good last year and it was reduced from £95 to £28. If it gets rereleased it will definitely be on my Boxing Day watch list. https://www.oliverbonas.com/beauty/25-days-of-wellness-beauty-advent-calendar-342131

Seriously, the vogue is lovely but I just realised it’s not my lifestyle and there’s actually something quite nice about realising I’ve matured out to have different interests, like the box art is lovely but I prefer pop art and bright colours in the house. Holding my resolve by saying @WeAreBorg is a sophisticated Vogue bot, the username helps! Now if Lululemon did an advent calendar I’d be in trouble… because it would be extortionately priced too.

@Tambatamba

Hmm... maybe. I don't recall there being much anti aging stuff in CB. Maybe a retinal serum. But Selfridges has collagen supplements.

Sephora is a good idea

I feel I NEED Vogue. I do not like yellow “gold” so I am still undecided. Is the Foreo UFO 3 Mini good? This could be the decisive factor for me.

I looked at some online reviews for this that were really positive. Makes me more tempted to buy it!

Puravida23 · 28/09/2023 07:27

What does everyone think of the OK advent . I want to love it because of the price and the fact it has Kate Somerville in it. But not convinced . Ok advent

I just came on here to add the link!
I think it's a very reasonable option which I am now considering (I wasn't going to buy any ACs this year but a more budget alternative might persuade me. Although the French Pharmacy keeps calling me)
You Beauty AC is a similar price bracket but I think OK Beauty is nicer.

I’m moving and clearing out stuff - so much Stuff, where does it come from? Anyway, a few people have talked about making up calendars for DDs or other lucky people and I have last year’s empty Liberty calendar if anyone wants to pay the postage? It’s so pretty I couldn’t throw it out but I have no use for it.

That's a great idea.
I was wondering about what to do with the empty box and boxes after Christmas.
I presume they're all recyclable but I like the idea of personalising a calendar.

BakeOffRewatch · 28/09/2023 08:40

On Instagram promo posts I’ve seen loads of people say they want the box but can’t afford it so I think they’d go on vinted and depop quite easily.

Squishmymallow · 28/09/2023 09:38

I’ve had an email from LIB with a code for £25 off when the calendar launches in 3 days. Code is AC150 and takes the price to £150.

Do I want this one perhaps?! 🤔

clary · 28/09/2023 09:41

Omg have bought Liberty!!

Had to be done - excited about the fragrances. Might still be tempted by JL but only if reduced.

My Liberty boxes sold on eBay for £20 !! so I’m deducting that from the price haha (CB and JL less popular)

Housewife2010 · 28/09/2023 10:15

LIB/Style will be £127.50 for subscribers which does make it more attractive. I wish they would put more make up in it. Recent Lib boxes have contained Surratt & Trish McEvoy. They would have been great additions. Or even a Bellapierre lipliner.

Fancyateapottea · 28/09/2023 10:54

Sorry wrong thread!

LittleBrownJug · 28/09/2023 11:27

Wah. I honestly can’t decide whether to spend my Liberty beauty drop money (+ another £100, ahem) on the advent calendar or buy a full-sized cleanser from the beauty drop that I really liked. It was the insane black mud one that came in the spring box. I loved it, although I don’t think it was very popular on here.

The calendar looks so festive though … but after last year’s M&S one I went off calendars & promised myself no more …

AnSionnachGlic · 28/09/2023 11:36

I've got the Boots luxury AC and it's arrived so v excited! I'm looking at Vogue AC at moment. It's v expensive so does anyone if there are discount codes around? I know I don't need another calendar but my justification is I have 2 college going dds so anytime I'm not too sure of I can pop in their Christmas stockings!

SwordBilledHummingbird · 28/09/2023 11:40

I think I might get the Liberty men's advent calendar, it's much more appealing to me than the women's!
